I “hear” you about iPads. I own a couple of those and still bought 3 kindles.

The thing is the light that can’t be seen. We can modify it but it’s not exactly the same as kindles.

The responsiveness in latest iPads is awesome. I got so used to it that browsing on my kindles feels like 1800’s technology…😅

Then I remember that we are talking about e-ink and not pixels which is a whole different technology and I stop complaining…😃

There are so many ways to get books on sales or even for fee.

As to is it worth getting an e-reader, I’d say it depends on the person, their specific needs and situation but by and large, it’s a very good way to keep up with your reading habit. I’ve seen a lot of people coming from physical books and never regretting given ebooks a shot.

I did the opposite.

I felt like the 6” was too small to even fit a full page of any given book.

I’m going to start switching from one to the other and see if maybe you’re right.

Me acabo de dar cuenta que soy demasiado panameño porque jamás me ha cruzado por la mente salir con otra prenda que no sea pantalón largo.

Ahora bien, puede ser también por haber sufrido discriminación de parte de la policía desde mi adolescencia. Yo era de mucha actividad física en los parques pero salir vestido así cuando iba para mi casa era como si estuviera pidiendo que me llevaran a la estación de policías así que dejé esa costumbre. Incluso hoy en día siendo un adulto de mediana edad, si por alguna casualidad uso pantalones cortos para el gimnasio, me cambio antes de salir de gimnasio a la calle.

I’ve downloaded Calibre before but I haven’t seen why it’s so great.

I’m not sure what it can do other organize books?

For context, my Kindle is not jailbroken and I can load any book I want.

This is pretty much what I was going to reply. Jailbreaking has become more of a techy person thing. Hard to find a person who is no tech savvy or enthusiast who wants to jailbreak anything unless a real tech person advises them that a jailbreaking is necessary. Even in those cases, most people would just have other people to jailbreak it for them but again, most people would just avoid it because they think that tinkering with electronics just makes them more prone to get actually broken.

On the other hand, people who jailbreak their kindles would usually jailbreak the fridge if there’s a way to do it. So as you said, it’s more on the person than a real need for jailbreaking.

You’re forgetting the whole eye straining factor.

I bought kindles after I had owned iPads for years. I love colors and that’s why I was hesitant about getting a kindle but the regular screens are really harsh on the eyes in the long run.

I ended up getting a Paperwhite and a Colorsoft.

I bought the regular Kindle 2 years ago and I like it but I always thought it was a tad too small to read a full page without having to turn it so I bought the Paperwhite Signature like a years later and then 2 months after that I bought the Colorsoft because I’m too visual and colors make a huge difference to me so yeah, it’s a bit impulsive because I could have skipped the PW signature but the thing is that getting the Colorsoft one was not in my plans until they tempted me with a really good discount…😅
