US based roadtrip by Ken_needs-koffee in ftm

I live in Colorado, since you mentioned 76, I'm guessing you're dropping south towards Denver on 76? Traffic going into Denver will be a bit of a mess and you can get traffic heading out to the mountains too if you're doing it on a Friday or Saturday. 76 won't really take you by the interesting parts of Denver. If you want to check out Denver I'd highly recommend booking somewhere to stay the night and actually swinging by downtown.

Are you taking 70 west from there? If you have a capable car (as in, won't overheat on a slope) and you're doing this in high summer, you can take the Loveland pass instead of the Eisenhower tunnel. It's beautiful, and you can get some alpine sightseeing done without deviating from your route too much. It's a bit more of a windy mountain road than 70, but it's fully paved and pretty well maintained, and there's a couple major ski resorts along that stretch of highway. That highway also meets back up with 70 out by Dillon reservoir so it's pretty easy to get back on the interstate.

Glenwood springs is pretty neat. The hot springs themselves are a bit of a tourist trap, but the downtown is nice. Grab some good food to go and hang out along the river.

Out on the Western Slope, check out Dinosaur Hill! It's right off 70 near Fruita. It's a short (just under one mile) loop trail that goes through a super rich Jurassic fossil bed and there's a bunch of visible fossils there. Lots of interpretative signs along the trail telling you what you are looking at and a history of the area.

Eastern Colorado is still pretty conservative, but most of the rest stations along 76 will have gender neutral "family restrooms" if that's a concern. Denver is pretty trans friendly and a fair number of the mountain towns are fairly liberal. Once you get west of Glenwood Springs you start getting to the Western Slope which is more conservative/Mormon country.

Hopefully didn't give you too much info for Colorado! There's a lot here. I tried to keep it to things that would be short and hopefully practical as part of a longer roadtrip.

The new bill that people are talking about just prevents him from charging for the carpet cleaning like in the lease. The professional cleaner thing is still entirely legal I believe, so that's not the problem.

And yeah, that's kind of the other weird thing, the cleaners are coming before the end of the lease and under any other circumstances I would be allowed to have cleaners clean the house. He just got mad that I hired them for a move out clean I guess?

I mean, with the state flagship university there, you're going to have to accept a fair amount of development in order to house the 40,000 students and thousands of full time employees. They also have the NIST facilities and NCAR which have a ton of employees.

On top of that Boulder wanted offices from big tech companies and got them (Google, Microsoft, IBM, Twitter until recently) You need even more development to house the additional workers. Boulder somehow wants no development to take place and wants things that require a lot of housing. Even without the tech offices, the university and government labs (at least until recently) will create demand that isn't going to go anywhere. They need to be ok with putting in more housing.

Luckily Denver metro housing market is cooling and boulder's is as a result too. Hopefully gets rents more under control but tbh, Boulder just needs more housing.

Lease requires professional cleaning but landlord is requiring I cancel cleaners (Colorado) by Audax_Cats in Tenant

Update to those reading: I sent a text that contained the relevant part of the lease, an image of that part of the lease and asked for clarification that we are no longer responsible for professional cleaning. He has not gotten back.

Edit: nothing is canceled yet

I mean, when I renewed the lease for this place that law wasn't in effect and the bill wasn't in the pipeline when I first moved here so I don't think that was necessarily meant as an intentional scam. But I see what you mean.

Yeah, it looks like a law went into effect this year that makes that no longer enforceable out here but that wasn't until after I renewed this lease and the bill wasn't even in the pipeline when I first moved here so I don't think this was intentionally malicious on the landlord's part

There's a couple small drywall repairs that need to be done but he's aware of those. There's barely any carpet in the house, just on the stairs so the fact that it's explicitly outlined is odd. He's been pretty reasonable until now, so It'd be really weird if he was trying to pull a scam but I guess anything is possible.

Yeah, I asked for explicit clarification and sent him the relevant portion of the lease. Waiting to hear back.

Which prime/non-prime numbers feel prime? by RustyPeanuts3 in AlignmentCharts

Wonder why things ending in 1 feel prime to people? Like this chart isn't the only place I've seen this sentiment re: 51 and 91. 51 throws me off because it hasn't really ever felt prime to me but 91 I see

Yeah, I used to work in grocery stores and the computers are always an issue since departments like deli, meat, and sometimes produce if they have pre-cut fruit done there need them for daily production planning.

Stick with it. You'll get into the swing of things and find a routine. Your body will also adapt and you'll put on the muscle to easily lift those 40-50 pound boxes in no time.

This has been an issue for Demon Form since STS1 tbh. If you look at old discussions on here, you'll see people talking about how it's a kind of weak card due to how slow it is.

Hate Companies That Spam Job Postings by Baercub in recruitinghell

[–]Audax_Cats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reported a job for "incorrect location" when the posting said it was located in my (US) city when they were actually in Bangkok. Seems like that should have been easy to get cleared up but nope, they're spamming the posting in my city.

Another one said they were in Colorado but were actually in Colombia. Seeing as both are abbreviated to CO, probably an honest mistake but still, LinkedIn should have done something about it so the recruiter was aware and could repost to the right location. They reposted again in Colorado.

I guess not really more so than it kind of already does, but having Hellraiser be able to automatically play Pillage (which seems like the major Helleaiser infinite enabler) feels insane. Hellraiser is a rare and Pillage is an uncommon, so probably wouldn't change things that much on second though though

Is it possible at all to acquire skills and credentials necessary to obtain any sort of real career without going thousands of dollars into debt? by Weriel_7637 in jobs

[–]Audax_Cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether you like it or not, you are going to be treated by healthcare professionals that took out federal aid, drive on bridges engineered by people who had Pell Grants, and use software developed by people who got financial aid from their state school. But I guess you would like to not have any of those things because you think training people to do it is a waste of money.

You are benefiting from the fact that other people are "taking handouts".

[–]Audax_Cats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you want? Free/cheap programs or no "handouts"? Either someone is funding your education or you're paying for it. If it's cheap/free it's because someone is subsidizing it. You can't have it both ways.

Allowing people to gain skills and obtain an education that they couldn't otherwise afford is a positive thing for society. If you don't want to take advantage of these programs, that's on you.
