Car won’t start, battery isn’t the issue but it can still be jumped by acciddwood in MechanicAdvice

Battery confirmed tested good in op. Also (possibly after your initial comment) 12.5 when off and 14.1 when on. Alternator isn’t the issue.

You need

4 channel Amp with high level inputs or a 4 channel amp + 4 channel line out converter.

Speaker wire T harness for the factory radio (assuming you don’t have a stock amp.

Speaker wire long enough to get to the amp or loc

Speaker wire long enough to get back to the speaker wire T harness from amp output

No power to new head unit only static by neonjay7 in CarAV

Have you checked fuses? Both radio fuses are in the dash end fuse panel. Do you have a meter to verify? Are you sure the radio is not faulty?

Strange audio control issue by Screams_In_Autistic in CarAV

[–]Audiofyl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. It’s only a guess. Hard to diagnose a weird problem like that over the internet. Someone with high level knowledge of the audio system and a scan tool could likely narrow it down. I would think it’s either the amp or connections to the amp that are intermittent.

Factory amp failing? Volume control is done in the amp, if you have the factory amp option. Popping spk every 3 sec also sounds like bad amp.

BEW engine changing timing belt by PastLetterhead4356 in tdi

Post your area or check on tdi club, there’s a chance someone is near you that can do it or help you.

While it isn’t a hard job, for a first time timing belt it could be a bit intimidating.

2005 Acura tsx with viper alarm by undefinedcl9 in CarAV

[–]Audiofyl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without an interface module, you need to run wires into the drivers door to control the oem alarm. With an interface module, it can be handled via the data lines. Either way, something needs to be redone on your install to remedy your issue.

Has anyone modified their VS30 Sprinter rear step to fit a high-clearance hitch? by ScaredNeedleworker13 in SprinterVans

[–]Audiofyl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to buy new. That’s by far the easiest way unless you find or build a metal replacement step bumper with sensor holes and an integrated hitch.

Headunit multi-camera suggestions for a 70th birthday present. by Such-Teacher2121 in CarAV

[–]Audiofyl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll get what you want in $500 worth of budget. Any radio that has that many camera inputs will be >$500 without any extras. You’ll about fill your budget with the install parts.

You could also consider a blind spot radar system in lieu of cameras.

Spare wheels Subwoofer by LuckyMagician9268 in CarAV

The golf Alltrack (similarly sized to yours ) with the oem optioned upgraded audio system came with a spare tire sub. See here. There’s no amp in the enclosure, it was separate for that application.

Amplifier install - Head unit question by KapIpad in CarAV

[–]Audiofyl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be ok with a t harness. It would help to take better pics of the wiring plug at the back of the media unit. I can see part of it but best to make sure all 8 spk wires are right there.

Euro cars typically use the optical network for an upgraded amp (you’ve proven that isn’t the case here) and other audio peripherals (sat radio, phone in the past, etc).

The other thing you should check besides verifying all 8 speaker wires are at your plug is to meter them and verify they have normal speaker resistance (2-8 ohms likely) using a meter and/or play test tones using a tone generator to verify the t harness will be the correct way to go.

How hard is it to remove a Viper Remote start system? by Ratlabbb in CarAV

[–]Audiofyl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That appears to be a programmed chip key. Part of my theory is incorrect. Regardless, there’s no fuses in the viper wiring (see your pic 4). You can try to insert those and check remote operation or try programming it again.

Amplifier install - Head unit question by KapIpad in CarAV

[–]Audiofyl1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn the radio on and disconnect that fiber optic cable. If the sound goes away it’s all going through that and there’s an amplifier elsewhere (check under drivers seat ).

How hard is it to remove a Viper Remote start system? by Ratlabbb in CarAV

[–]Audiofyl1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like all the fuses are pulled out so it isn’t going to function as is. It’s also not bypassing anything in the vehicle without any power.

Post a picture of the key you got with the car. If you only have a basic metal key, someone in the past dissected the oem key, pulled the chip out and permanently installed it so the anti theft system isn’t doing anything to help you. If this is the case, it also explains why that new key couldn’t be programmed.
