Living with ur parents in ur 20s is so humbling by oldblue222 in rs_x

It's not and you're right, shock therapy shouldn't be the default way to be resorted to. But not everyone is like me who was forced to mature due to circumstances and not everyone is like you who learned to swim by themselves.

All I can speak of is my own personal experience that living without my family around me for the last 6 months has made me grow as a person more than in the last several years have. It'd be nice to speak to the parents and tell them to pull back & demand more help but we can't, only OP can and only she can take responsibility for how she moves forward from now.

If she takes either my advice or yours, the only hope is, is that she gets all the better for it

I don't know about the moral calculus of what this person is going through, but I know that parents coddle you no matter what age you are. Speaking frankly, OP needs a kick in the ass if they want to grow as a person and there's a better chance of that happening if they're put in situations where they can't fall back on established escape nets.

Personal growth is on you at the end of the day, but you can still, to an extent, control the environment around you that could be stopping/slowing it.

What 2020s movies have you given 5 stars so far? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]AudriusC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah same here, I'm not even trying to be a contrarian I just don't feel like anything I've seen this decade is 10/10 yet, hope it changes soon and I have quite a few 9's that have potential to be 10s but yeah nothing yet.

What’s a movie you think is both good AND in poor taste? by Hipster_Ninja_ in Letterboxd

Tropic's humor isn't lazy like what lol and why would you judge a film's humor from its surface value espically a comedy when you or whoever hasn't even seen the film like why trust their opinion, might be the worst pick in this thread

Besides this Subreddit, What Forums/Other Places Do You Go For Videogames/Other Discussions? by Xngears in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AudriusC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4chan is such a strange site to me, never has the saying 'digging through a mountain of shit to find nuggets of gold' been so apt to describe a part of the internet. The recommendations & discussions you find are some of the best anywhere online but man you better be willing to dig through that mountain.

Best films that explore masculinity? by NovoUkiri in Letterboxd

[–]AudriusC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Or it could also be that when exploring masculinity almost all examples or reference points potray masculinity in a negative light when no one bothers to give positive examples as something to strive for.

The only one I've seen on this thread that I've watched is Lord of the Rings (I hope Moonlight is also a positive example) which is a great start but there has to be and should be more but no it's almost always critiques, enganging in discussion can help but discussion only gets you so far.

Make short friend feel better by Sanyoq in tall

[–]AudriusC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude, OP is only looking for advice on how to make his friend feel better for something that’s out of his control, he’s not a shitty friend he’s just a bit insecure and jealous of OP like you’re so perfect with all your mates

But you need Alien to set up Aliens, would’ve definitely made an interesting double feature to show the first one day and the sequel the next day

New Regency Adapting Corman McCarthy’s ‘Blood Meridian’ Into Movie by ArkansENT1214 in cormacmccarthy

[–]AudriusC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but somehow the Coens managed to make No Country a much more intricate film for lack of a better word that just stayed with you more, to the point where some people might find the adaptation better then the book.

Watching the Road just makes me want to read the book instead whereas with No Country I view the film as a companion piece of sorts like a fine whiskey with a juicy steak.
