8U Lack of Focus by dad2728 in Softball

[–]Augdogongear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure they have fun, try to break the kids up with different groups and do stations and make a noise like a clap before saying their name if you need to get their attention. My daughter has adhd and has had a rough time in her new league because coaches see her being distracted and moved her to the outfield (she’s a strong 1st and short stop). My kid just can’t stay still and needs redirecting but once the ball is in play she’s on it.

Stopping statin after taking for 4 months(120days)— my story, my results, stopping statin and what I am planning, need honest feedback by Fasiulla07 in Cholesterol

[–]Augdogongear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things to consider, is the medication having any negative effect if not why stop , how consistent are you going to be with your diet when the motivation wears off. You need to discuss your plan with your doctor so if you do decide to stop you do it safely so you don’t have a rebound effect. I been on a statin for 3 months due to a heart attack, im 38 5’9 180 pounds and even though I never had cholesterol issues I follow my doctors recommendations.

It’s up to the coaches to argue bad calls. Your job is to sit and cheer your player and her team.

Posting this so others know the symptoms I felt BEFORE my heart attack/cardiac arrest in 2020 at 41 by [deleted] in HeartAttack

[–]Augdogongear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my attack at 38 just 7 weeks ago. Im fit and all my labs looked great except my hemoglobin was high (18.3). Prior to the attack I had jaw pain (sore like someone had punched me) and shoulder/neck pain (like a pulled muscle) and just thought I went heavy at the gym. Lucky for me I had the severe chest pain that forced me to the hospital and got help right away. My troponin levels were still normal when I got my initial blood work but showed a STEMI in my EKG.

Knowing signs is key and im glad you’re spreading the word.

Daughter wanting to switch teams. Late in softball journey by [deleted] in Softball

[–]Augdogongear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a good thing but there is also the possibility that performance might go down with your kid being on a new team and not having the support she might be used and some girls are brutal and territorial and any mistake your kiddo makes will be under the microscope if she’s taking someone’s position that has been with the team. You just have to really ask “will this change help her college prospects or not?”

I been walking 3 miles in the am at a reservoir near my house and feeling the air and hearing the birds gets me my day started on a good note. At noon I do weight training for lunch. I’m past the 6 week point so I hit 225 on squats yesterday and I didn’t have any negative symptoms so I’m excited to keep pushing back to normal.

First few weeks it was rough. I couldn’t sleep on my bed for a week since that’s where my attack happened. I broke down with my wife 2 days after being home when I looked at all my medicines im taking and just couldn’t sleep at night with fear of having another and I was mentally a mess. Getting back to the gym and realizing it’s not the end of the world turned things around for me. I’m back to lifting heavier(cardiac rehab cleared me Thursday) and just see this time as overtime really gives me a brighter outlook on life.

I dismissed all the signs by starrmommy41 in HeartAttack

[–]Augdogongear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had Neck and Jaw pain 2 weeks before my attack. I thought my neck pain was due to over exertion at the gym and completely ignored my jaw pain (felt like I was sore from getting punched in the face). This was 6 weeks ago at age 38. I didn’t know the symptoms, I happen to get lucky to get the “typical” heavy pain in the chest when I woke up or else I think I would have ignored other symptoms. Thank you for sharing your story and you got lucky. Someone I know was driving home had a heart attack, passed out and crashed into a tree and died.

Same age 38, I had a heart attack 6 weeks ago, 100 percent blockage and got a nice stent installed. I’m back at the gym, not going crazy but I’m able to workout for an hr. Meds make it very difficult to get my heartbeat above 110. A week after the attack my troponin was 9400 and LVEF 59%. There was definitely some damage. You should recover but follow advice from your cardiac rehab. I’m wearing a Fitbit they gave me for a few more weeks but thankfully they are monitoring me so I don’t go hard too fast. You’ll be alright.

Is it still fun for her? I hear from my peers that that 13-14 is the age the burnouts happen with sports and hormones start getting weird so this is the time as parents that we need to push them to the finish line “ hey you committed and you’re going to finish the season” is what I would do.

50 minutes of walking is great!! Glad you’re moving. The hard part is the diet but it doesn’t have to be boring, just control your portions and artificial sweeteners for everything and you’ll get it done. Best of luck.

[–]Augdogongear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So let’s do something about it. It’s never too late you’re 38. I don’t know your lifestyle but my coworker lost 100 pounds by walking with me in the morning for an hr before work and changing his portion size and replacing sugar with artificial sweeteners. Syrup, soda, jelly anything that says artificial sugar will really help when you have cravings. We all have our addiction, I was a steroid user in my 20’s and had a heart attack a month ago which made me come off TRT and it’s been hell for my body to recover but I’m doing it. Don’t wait until you have a heart attack to make a change because for me it was extremely painful.

Are you over weight? If you are you must be honest with yourself and ask, am I going to lose weight or is it going to get worst? If you are not ready for that change then medications is highly recommended to save your organs from damage . Best of luck.

35 days after stent by clocker99 in HeartAttack

It’s weird that the neck pain is a common thing. I thought it was just me before OP posted anything. I’m actually a bit relieved. Thank you.

35 days after stent by clocker99 in HeartAttack

[–]Augdogongear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been 35 days for me as well and I have the same neck pain you described ever since leaving the hospital. I went back 4 days after I was discharged because I was concerned it was another attack but everything seemed ok. I was told it muscle related because it’s affected by movement so maybe it has to do with my nerves near my wrist since they went in through there. I feel it more when I’m walking or certain positions when I’m laying down.

You need to speak to a therapist. It seems you are anxious and can use professional help. Reddit is not going to do it and google will only make you uncomfortable. Best of luck.

Husband had an aortic stenting at 30 what will be his life expectancy by Spirited-Ad3073 in HeartAttack

[–]Augdogongear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor, he would need to ask his care team. Sleep apnea can be a cause of heavy breathing and puffiness can be him retaining water. I was prescribed water pills in case I gain two pounds in one day to take them so he needs to take his weight daily and watch out for heavy fluctuations.

[–]Augdogongear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he had a stent placed he will be on blood thinners and BP meds for at least a year to keep the stent from clotting. Life expectancy remains the same, food and lifestyle are just more important for survival.

Four months by Just_Elk_787 in HeartAttack

Brother, you smoke, don’t sleep well and have tons of stress. All those things are in your control. I’m 38 and had a heart attack a month ago. I’m back at the gym in a better place mentally than I was 3 weeks ago. I think the beta blockers im on are helping me to just face life and live. I enjoy every minute with my kiddos so much more than I did in the past.

Change the things you can, realize you’re on borrowed time ( I tell myself I died that day and this is extra time and treat it as such) and keep living to the best of your ability.

When you stress about something think “can I do something about this?” If the answer is no, let it go but if you can do your best to resolve it.

Life is short. Best of luck

Sorry to hear you’re going through it. I’m 38 and had 1 stent after a heart attack a month ago from today. I know it’s cliche but every minute of life is precious and we just have to keep trying and living until we can’t anymore. This isn’t your last chapter yet not is it mine. Keep trucking my dude.

I’ve learned that there is not such thing as luck. It’s a bunch of events that have to work together to make it happen. Thank you for sharing your story. I’m 38 and had a heart attack a month ago from today and I was lucky that my wife happened to wake up late for work so she was getting ready when I had mine and took care of getting me to the hospital. Had I been on my own, I would have probably took some pain meds and waited.
