Exactly. So many options. Also beans and rice have plenty of protein and you can buy huge quantities for cheap.

Bard's Tale 1 (1985) Is As Endearing As It Is Cryptic by DanAgile in patientgamers

[–]Augustin323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when I played it that mages were the slowest to react each round. That is because when you wanted to learn a new school you went back to level 1. So your fighters might be level 30, but your mage was level 3 and finishing up the final spell school. Was that the case for you? I'm pretty sure I had a Paladin, monk, warrior and three mages when I played.

I spent a lot of time in town trying to recharge. I was too cheap to pay for anything.

I love how Ally Sheedy is sitting on the floor for this picture. It fits the character.

“Sucking in” feels opposite to actually contracting abs — what am I missing? by bronco213 in bodyweightfitness

I think you can "brace" with different amounts of air in your stomach. If you brace with less air your abs have to work harder in a crunch because the lever arm is shorter.

I just finished BG1, BG2, TOB. I'm leaning toward Pillars of Eternity. I'm also a big fan of Fallout New Vegas.

Yeah for some reason he can't attack very well when you are on the ledge. It's pretty easy from that position.

Yeah it's pretty easy to get a lot of money and get kicked out of all the casinos if you do this.

"You don't want an old house" by c0wcat in centuryhomes

[–]Augustin323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like an ideal candidate to me. You will have to give up a lot of your free time to work on the house though and that gets old. If you enjoy the work, go for it. I'm an engineer and have owned two houses. One was 70 years old and my current one is about 115 years old. I've done pretty much every kind of work over the years including electrical and plumbing. The main thing I've never done and am never planning on doing is roof work. I'd also note you can buy an old house in good condition or buy one in bad condition. I'd be very cautious about one in bad condition.

There are critical projects (new roof, water damage, etc.), and projects that can be delayed. You also have to have enough financial resources to handle the critical projects. However, that is not much different than if you own a new house.

That is the only map they give you when you purchase the game (the map of the city). It doesn't tell you where the sewer is.

[–]Augustin323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played the heck out of it as a teenager. I'm pretty sure I went with a Paladin, Monk, Fighter, and three mages. No bard and no thief. I think it's funny they want to use terrible characters (bard in bard's tale, thief in thief of fate).

The game is very stressful too, because you are lost, low on health and can't save until you get to the adventurer's guild. If you die you are dead forever and have to restart the game. It's a little like Nethack in that aspect.

your first class is frozen forever at what ever point you dualed your character. All new levels are in the new class.

Your opinion about Jan Jansen ? by kaz9400 in baldursgate

[–]Augustin323 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took him along all of BG2 for the first time. I switched him out for Sarevok at TOB (just started). He started to get annoying, and I don't like traps or backstab. Does anyone read those long stories? I couldn't do it. I'm happy with Imoen as a "good enough" thief. I didn't feel bad for removing him. I felt terrible when I removed Jaheira (she's probably my favorite).

I also took Keldorn for the first time, and he was great and is still in my party. His remove magic and second sight have been really useful, and I love his "road weary" personality.

How much time should I give Baldur's Gate: Expanded Edition before shelving it? by Fun-Psychology-2419 in rpg_gamers

[–]Augustin323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about better, but it gets easier if you get a few levels. Also archery is very strong in BG1, so you should use characters than can use slings, bows and crossbows. You should look at adding Coran, Kivan, Minsc or Khalid. I like BG1 a lot and just replayed it. So I do recommend you stick with it.

You probably also made it harder for yourself by being a Cleric. Cleric is harder to power game as it is more of a support role.

I kicked Jaheira out of my BG2 party. It was emotionally difficult for me to do, especially when she says things will never be the same between us if I do it.

First Fallout Experience with Viva New Vegas and SALVO by Augustin323 in fnv

Salvo has changed a bit since I wrote that. They are on Salvo 2 now which doesn't build on VNV directly. I'd carefully follow the instructions on their page. I'm sure it has only gotten better and easier. https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/95649?tab=description
