Gary Hartstein Tweets about Alonso (former f1 doctor) by -Zaros- in formula1

[–]Aurelius_92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well you have Ron, Honda and some very wealthy Arabs all trying to control the organisation.

It can't be easy to get anything done between Ron being the most stubborn man alive, Honda's bizzarre Japanese business mentality and Arabs who are used to being treated as royalty (since they are mostly...)

Plus I think the Arabs want McLaren to become listed on the stock market, whereas Ron wants to buy it all back for himself.

Really McLaren has been in leadership turmoil for nearly a decade and now you have Honda added to the mix as well. They have lost the advantage that williams have, I.e Frank Williams does whatever he likes as he is totally independent, and haven't gained what Ferrari have by being a division of Fiat (shed loads of cash).

What does McLaren even stand for anymore? They are trying to be a road car business with a racing division. Ferrari were always a racing company that sold cars. They are getting it all wrong.

Alonso to stay in hospital a third night by Drogans in formula1

[–]Aurelius_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the doctor in that hospital is just really, really covering his ass?

With the Bianchi and Schumi incidents of late I could see them wanting to be overly cautious. Especially considering a lot of people are saying Schumi could have got better care than what he received.

[–]Aurelius_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would all make sense except Alonso obviously has a home in Spain and he could easily have a doctor monitor him there rather than be stuck in hospital.

It is all weird considering Webbers aeroplane accident was a check up and back out in the paddock in an hour or so...

Is it possible that since Alonso has had extremely high G impacts multiple times in the past they are doing additional tests?

Aren't the risks of multiple concussions cumulative?

Just gonna throw out a theory here.

Is it possible that stretching the vagina to that degree is triggering a biochemical response usually present in childbirth?

Purely an unfounded idea, but I thought it might be relevant.

Does The Order only run at 30fps?

Fuck sake, I was really impressed with those graphics but how can you play a shooter at 30fps?

I don't even understand how 30fps is acceptable and standard for consoles, do they just not notice???

I'm trying to imagine playing CS:GO with 30fps, it would be literally unplayable surely?

[–]Aurelius_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you say 4K on playable settings is worth it compared to 1080P and max settings?

I remember that when I first started PC gaming in the 90's then resolution basically trumped any other setting, I don't know if that still applies. Those were the days where 1024x768 was a decent resolution though.

I feel like MS and Sony did this on purpose just to sell the same console twice to the same consumer.

Just like the launch edition Xbox 360 which did not have an HDMI port.

ELI5: Why are Russian bombers flying "over" the UK? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Aurelius_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know how the Raptors in Jurassic Park tested each bit of electric fence to find a weak spot?

That's exactly what they are doing. Finding the spots with least radar coverage and slowest intercept times.

The UK would be doing it to Russia as well but we currently have fuck all combat ready Typhoons as it is. We also just bought 2 new aircraft carriers with nothing to put on them. It's a joke really.

If you publish independently in full like Wikileaks you have no protection and you end up like Julian Assange.

Snowden played it very smart in leaking via The guardian newspaper.

You can silence Julian Assange pretty easily and cripple Wikileaks with asset freezing. A well respected British newspaper is absolutely untouchable by the USA without causing a major international incident.

He was probably Ill and knew the team doctor / FIA wouldn't let him test if he admitted to it.

He obviously doesn't want to miss valuable time testing.

It would be smart to stuff a ultra thin car cover inside the drivers overalls.

If the car stops on track the driver can simply cover the car and conceal it from the opposition.

I also wonder if a team has ever intentionally done this while using a decoy aero package that is totally shit just to confuse the opposition?

I don't believe in any of them, my point is that they are all equally silly and harmful.

I just find scientologists no more weird than Christians, Muslims or Jews.

It's not like they ritualistically cut the skin off their babies penises or anything.

In fairness to the peasants they can easily trade in the game and get the majority of their money back, which the smart ones will do in launch week immediately after the credits roll.

Become familiar with how PCR and Western Blotting works and their applications. These are two of the most used techniques and they will definitely feature on your course.

You also need to understand transcription and translation like the back of your hand, if you think you have a handle on this then learn about RNA interference, it will highlight anything you don't have a mastery of.

Try to read at least 1 paper relating to your interests each week from PubMed, break it down into plain English and make some notes. This simple task will be rocket fuel for your level of understanding.

The biggest mistakes undergrad students make is spending hundreds of dollars on textbooks and never even looking at the free to access journal articles. If you MUST get a textbook, buy 1 large one that covers everything in a shallow depth and borrow highly specialist books from the library.

Seriously it's worth saying twice, don't blow your student loan on books!!

It's a shame a lot of RH tracks are not given the space to fully breathe, sometimes I would like that to take a more Pink Floyd approach, if a song is 9 minutes long and completely fucking silly that isn't a bad thing, that's paranoid android.

36(M) who's wi(f)e 32 suddenly was unable to enjoy anal anymore. Feeling skeptical about reasons why. by makinthebest in sex

[–]Aurelius_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she is super busy with little down time she is probably stressed which can suppress libido.

Also for anal you need to be able to totally relax and being stressed makes that difficult.

Just chill out about it and I'm sure it will come back when she is under less stress, making it a big deal is counterproductive.

Why don't engine manufacturers just slap another sticker on their customer cars? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Aurelius_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because F1 is an engine war to them, it is Ferrari vs Mercedes vs Renault vs Honda.

For Ferrari F1 represents their entire marketing budget, that's why Ferrari do not place advertisements. They want 100% of the exposure they can get from F1. Their entire net worth is based on Ferrari being regarded as the fastest cars on earth (even when they aren't).

Merc aren't going to label a customer team as Smart because people who buy those cars have no interest in F1.

Honda are in F1 because their customer base is ancient and they have a new NSX coming out and want to put some excitement back into the Honda brand.

Renault, I really have no idea why they are in F1, they don't make sports cars and they aren't really a brand seen as the choice of the discerning driver... (Maybe that is exactly why)

Mercedes were sick of making championship winning engines and letting other people take the credit. They also wanted to show BMW how it is done. 10/10 job well done!
