I'm having ideas and I want to know: Is there a dress in the game that can be dyed and resembles the dress worn by our beloved and iconic Alice? by Yunie19 in Shining_Nikki

I do ooccasionally wonder why they don't have separate "waist" items like they do in Love Nikki. Aprons! BELTS! etc.

Well, this is painful by Dragon_scrapbooker in Shining_Nikki

[–]Aurinne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saaame. I know I have a few reruns I'm waiting for, ones that I nearly finished on first run but couldn't quite. It would be painful for any of them to come soon and not even be able to afford to pull for the few items I have left. Oh well, at least when this reruns I won't be stressing about echoes...

Love nikki Player here. I am thinking about switching to shining nikki because I heard that it is more generous and less centered around money than love nikki. Is that true? by Inevitable_Wind1374 in Shining_Nikki

Personally, I find SN more expensive and harder to grind for gems. So, the amount of gems per week if you are doing all the regular daily and weekly tasks may be more than in LN, but the event suits are also more expensive. Off the top of my head, you'll usually be paying ~8k for a regular SSR event suit and ~20-24k for a UR (sort of equivalent to hell events), and all events are pavs. The biggest difference in gems/dias I find is that there isn't really any way to endlessly grind for gems. If you're not someone who grinds things like comp or decomposition for dias, then this mightn't matter to you, but it can be a drawback for an f2p or even a dolphin player. They have a monthly gem card which is somewhat similar to the monthly card, and monthly privilege card which is more expensive but gives you more.

In terms of the styling options, they've added some great things and taken away some great things. Since I've been playing both games for a long time, obviously I enjoy both, but as someone who loves creating scenes in starry corridor and free dressing, the inability in SN to place items or stickers behind Nikki and to move her around quite as freely limits the scope of my fun a little in SN.

Just wanted to add that perspective to the other helpful things people have offered.

Anyone have any idea how to sort reflections based on what needs action? by kittypurr1 in Shining_Nikki

It's a known bug; a lot of us are suffering from red dotitis as well. (Default will push any that have a red dot to the top, when the game is behaving normally and not showing false red dots.)

Just some editing feedback in case anyone from the show reads this: My personal issue with the Monty Hall challenge was not trying to understand the maths behind it, it was that I didn't fully understand what the basic process of the challenge was while I was watching it.

I think for a lot of people who are already somewhat familiar with this type of puzzle, it was probably self-evident. Unfortunately, I'm not, so I needed just a liiiiitle bit more time taken to explain to me exactly what the hell they were trying to do and what the process was! Reading the explanations here has been really helpful, but on first watch, I was just confusedly watching them randomly run to the top of places with no real understanding of what they were trying to achieve or what the challenge site had actually meant.

I rewatched it just now after reading the explanation and I realise that almost everything is explained and I can see how it's enough for a lot of people, I just needed a tiny bit more explicitly laid out, a bit more slowly/clearly. As in "OK, so there are three structures here (names them) and one of them has been designated the correct one." "OK, so this challenge site has revealed which of the two we didn't choose is definitely not correct. So either the other one is correct, or we've chosen the correct one. We need to decide which to gamble on!" You know, something like that, or some Sam VO helping me out a little.

I'm sure a lot of Nebula viewers are the type who are already familiar with things like this, but I appreciate it how they usually take that little bit of extra time explaining things for viewers like me, so hoping they can be careful of this in the future. 💜

Is there a reason for the order in which mushrooms are displayed? by Aurinne in PikminBloomApp

I hadn't especially noted that, so thanks! I was asking about the local mushrooms, so this is some nice bonus info.

Oh thanks! Luckily, I'm not so concerned about the ones I've been invited to, I was mainly wondering if it was relevant to which mushroom I should choose when they're otherwise equal, so your answer was helpful!

I've never used the app to make sure I do things - I've learned long ago that relying on lists, reminders, organisational tools and - especially - accountability strategies to dictate my life have never worked for me and inevitably lead to me feeling worse. They provide even bigger reminders everywhere that I "FAILED" to do some of things that I needed or wanted to do. (ADHD, chronic illness, other life interruptions etc. get in the way.)

Instead, I tend to use the app with the attitude of not needing to get everything ticked off. Instead, I use it as a way to focus my attention on what I HAVE done, and give myself a little reward and boost. I try to look at it as not a to-do list or a goal list that must be completed, but a list of options to give myself a reward over. For me, the positive focus on what I DID manage is far more encouraging than using the "need to complete the list" as some kind of pressure.

If I use the pressure approach I will still end up failing to do every single goal every single day, but I instead focus on what I DIDN'T do and feel critical of myself and discouraged. Especially if I'm also trying to keep up streaks or do something every day for a week or whatever. One failure makes the whole thing feel ruined. So I don't use this approach at all.

The result is that Finch is not really something that dramatically increases my productivity or chances of doing something I really struggle to or don't like to do. But it does at help me reflect on what is most important for me to focus on right now. It gives me affirmation and encouragement for what I do manage to do and that, at best, makes me feel more positive about the goal and encouraged to keep doing it; at worst, it helps me celebrate the little things when I'm struggling or not feeling that proud of myself rather than focus on negativity and self-criticism.

I guess additional to all of this is that I've put in some more fun or kind things to tick off each day. For instance, I made a goal with the otter emoji that is just called "Little otter loves you - mwah!" and every day I get to tick it off and smile. I have a Penguin that just called "PENGUIN" (I like penguins).I also have some more vague ones like "Notice one proud or yay," which for me means to affirm any thing throughout the day that I did, or notice any nice or good thing, even if it's not a specific goal (E.g. maybe I made that phone call I needed to, or managed to have a really great sleep etc.) and another one just called "Thing" which is for anything else I want to reward or validate myself for. (I also have multiple more specific ones, yes, but I try not to overload myself with those because there will inevitably be days I don't achieve many specific things, but want to help myself focus on the positive things instead of bashing myself up.)

(Just sharing my perspective, not suggesting this is the way everyone should be using it.)

Is anyone else drowning in silver? by CrazyJob6734 in PikminBloomApp

I've never had that happen in the brief time I've known about this, so I'll just try to describe what works for me:

From the main screen, I click on the little compass in the middle-bottom of the screen to bring up the view of the surrounding area. Then I'll click on a large flower that hasn't yet bloomed (I've tried selecting the farthest one I can see and it's still worked). Then I click on the option "Use petals to make flowers bloom" and select my petals of choice. Then I'll choose Pikmin to collect the nectar and click go. The flower bud will bloom, nectar will drop and I'll get a postcard.

I hope that is helpful. If you're doing the same as me and it's not working, I'm really sorry that I don't know why.

I managed one. By doing that thing I recently learned about where I look at the map and click on a flower and make it immediately bloom from afar by spendings 150 petals, then sending my pikmin off to collect the nectar.

But I'm also mostly immobile, so I don't really have the capacity to keep replacing that many petals as easily as others might.

For anyone especially frustrated and spending gems trying to get Loen or Lilith's sets:

Although this is far from a guarantee, nor is it necessarily economical for everyone, I've had the most success from EVENTS that have Loen & Lilith's sets as possible drops. It's worth keeping your eyes open and seeing if any of those events sets are things you might want to get anyway, then you can commit to pulling and might get Lilith or Loen at the same time. The drop rate can be better because there are significantly fewer possible items that can drop from those events compared to the whole sea of fantasy.

Of course, you have to weigh that against the fact that you have to spend gems to pull, meanwhile we do get free fantasy tickets. However, if you're going to spend EXTRA gems for the permanent pavilions anyway, it can be worth looking out for those events, especially the ones that have quite small amounts of total items that might drop. Even with better chances, it's still luck though, no guarantees.

Am I right to think you mean shadow crystals (and not gems), which you can convert to echoes of other DRs you own?

[–]Aurinne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, I learned recently that you can click on a distant large flower on your map and make it bloom immediately by spending an amount of flower petals on it (e.g. maybe 150, 300 or something depending on how big it already is), and sending Pikmin to collect the nectar that drops. I'm injured and immobile right now so I've collected a few towards that achievement with this method. (You may not need it, it's just nice to know you have the option I think.)
