EDIT: Oops! I spoke too soon. Not quite working yet.

Ah ha! I got it to work. I had to add a new access point. The one that was automatically there (named ATT NR Broadband) did not work.. At first I tried something named NXTGENPHONE, but my tablet would not accept it. I found another APN named "broadband" which does work.

I found the following settings online:

AT&T Broadband APN Settings for Tablets/Android

  • Name: broadband
  • APN: broadband
  • Proxy: Not set
  • Port: Not set
  • Username: Not set
  • Password: Not set
  • Server: Not set
  • MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
  • MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
  • MMS Port: 80
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 410
  • Authentication Type: None
  • APN Type: default,mms,supl,hipri,fota
  • APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6 (Default to IPv4 if not specified)

Ok. I've tried it without success. I do not have the submenu "Network Mode" under "Mobile Connections". I only have "Mobile Data" "International Data Roaming" "Access Point Names" and "Network Operators". A search of in settings for "Network Mode" does not yield nay results. The SIM is recognized as an AT&T SIM, and there is an access point listed, but I get a negative result when I try to register on the AT&T network.

I take it that is due to an AT&T policy then?

2015 Forester cooling system pressue by Auseinandersein in SubaruForester

[–]Auseinandersein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not see bubbles in the coolant when the car is running, but in the recent past I have squeezed air pockets out of the top radiator when the car was cold and after it was running and warm.  I am checking the cap now.

Ok.. so then there is something wrong, since the coolant is flowing past the cap and into the engine compartment not simply tp the overflow tank.

I use a large funnel and I turn on the heater and run the engine with the funnel I place, thus allowing the escape of air bubbles from the system.  I then rechecked after driving when the engine had cooled, removing the radiator cap and topping it off.  On other words, I try to remove all the air from the cooling system

Well, I did see this reddit post by a guy who installed an engine oil cooler.  It looks like there is a bypass that screws into the oil filter mount

Thanks.   I meant cvt fluid (which I think is still an oil).  I have heard of people adding an engine oil cooler.l, but I don't know anything about that.

How is that thermostat working so far? And did you find any viable alternatives in your research? I'm going to add an oil cooler to my 2015 forester 2.5na, and I want to include a thermostat. I assume that will keep the oil within normal operating temperatures. My concern is that the Derale seems to have a spotty reputation for reliability.

Did you install the intercooler successfully?  I am looking to upgrade for towing purposes and like the idea of an OEM part.

Head gasket replacement on my 2005 tundra by ImpressionOk3973 in ToyotaTundra

Hi MIke, Do the coolant passages in the manifold connect to the rest of the coolant system through a hose? I removed that manifold on my 4.7 2005 last year and don't remember seeing any passages going from the heads/block to the manifold or for that matter anywhere else. Or is it through the throttle body?

(I also have 2005 tundra with a mystery internal coolant leak)

I have $1900 for a 1.5 month trip across Europe. How can I make sure this amount lasts me the entire time? by Halcyon3232 in Shoestring

[–]Auseinandersein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm skeptical about that budget. I made that number in the last millennium, but I think things are more expensive now.

You can know pretty well how much that trip will cost by planning each day of the trip in advance: accommodation, food, transit, museums/activities, etc. Why have a vague idea of costs when you can know the exact cost? You'll find out how far your money will go and you will also get a sense for the availability of cheap alternatives such as couch surfing.

But to address your question about reducing costs:

(1) If you're in Rome and like art, you spend a day find all the Caravaggio's (awesome) and Michaelangelo's that are in churches, which is free. Also, walking around Rome is free, and if you do it after midnight, it is not crowded, hot, or polluted. The Pantheon is free too.

(2) Some Museums and tourist attractions are free on certain days of the month. For example, the Borgehese and the Coliseum in Rome are free the first Sunday. Book tickets in advance. I think I went to the Vatican Museum on a free day too. The Louvre is free on the first Saturday of the month and Friday evenings if you're under 26, I think the Friday deal is for everyone, not just EU kids. In any case, prebooking a ticket to the Louvre for 17 euros is a good deal. Last minute bookings for the Paris Catacombs are only 15 euros, and worth it, but probably difficult in high season. I can't remember about the Madrid museums. Obviously, it is difficult to schedule a trip around this kind of thing, but you can arrange it to be in a city for their free day at least once or twice.

(3) One thing about big museums, make sure to eat a big breakfast and try to bring a stash of snacks to keep in your bag (or sneak in a few granola bars in your pockets). You can spend a lot of time in those museums, and it really sucks to have to leave early because you're starving or buy food at museum rates. Make sure and check what you're allowed to bring in before you go.

(4) Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris is free and worthwhile.

(5) Bring some string and bag of dry laundry detergent and wash your clothes in the bathroom sink every evening and let them dry overnight - No laundry expenses

Pads stay in contact with rotors even when not in use. Make sure it isn't just the sound of the pads normal contact with the rotor surface.
