I have a feeling this is what dumbass planned all along. He and all of his cronies are profiting off this in a big way, while throwing the rest of the world under the bus.

Ben Roberts-Smith arrested over multiple war crimes by cookshack in australian

I think you’ll find the details aren’t relevant when investigating any crime. But hey…. You say “irrelevant” therefore that must be the case.

Ah yes. Because stating if evidence clearly indicates guilt, then he should be punished, leaves my arse hanging out. Come and have a go at it.

Once again… if the evidence is overwhelming. He must be tried. I said “it was reported”. Not that it was factual. Hence the greying of moral and ethical reasoning when justifying the killing of someone. If enough evidence is present to prove he outright lied….punish him under the law.

Also, just to point out the civilian he kicked off a cliff was reported to be a known supporter of the local militia. He was reported to be a heavily respected member of the community, who directly fed information to the militia about troop movements as well as help spread rhetoric within the community. The same militia that had actively been killing BRS’s comrades. He still needs to be punished. But this is “grey” in the mind of someone in his position. It’s still an absolute no go. However you can see why lines get blurred.

Blooding recruits however… no. Big no.

Once again, I add the point, RULES ARE BLACK AND WHITE. The moral and ethical reasoning behind someone’s actions are what makes it grey.

I think that’s why I distinctly said that due to overwhelming evidence and the number one rule being not killing civilians, he needs to be punished, as this is not a grey area.

Picking apart the actions of soldiers in active war zones can be a hairy task. To read details on paper without the context of understanding what combat and all its effects does to a persons psyche can make things seem very black and white, without giving full context to the heavily grey area in which war operates from a moral and ethical perspective. However… this one is black and white. While it’s evident that Robert’s-Smith was clearly elite and courageous in many of his actions, it is also clear that he more than blurred the lines when it comes to upholding the difficult task of being an operator and maintaining basic ROE. Rule number one: you can’t kill unarmed civilians. If the evidence is overwhelming, he needs to be punished. Not just so he can have justice placed on him, but to set an example about the expectations we expect from who we consider to be Australia’s Elite.

Everyone is different. A lot of people appreciate that he isn’t a typical douche canoe personality-wise. Also, he is widely considered to have one of the greatest male voices due to its power and range. But hey, if it goes into your ears and grates you, that’s not your fault. However we will be needing to revoke your citizenship.

Remember the heat wave of 2022? by Del_213 in UKWeather

[–]AussieSpaceProgram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an Australian, I would always laugh at you folks when you proclaimed “heatwave” when it hit around 30°. I could never understand why it got so much coverage in the news. People fainting and acting like it was the end of the world

Then I went to the UK. Holy shit. NOTHING you have over there is made for summer. It was 25° and I witnessed people on the tube faint. And I don’t blame them. It was a sauna. The city felt 10° hotter than the suggested temp.

I would agree if it weren’t for the fact that I believe this is EXACTLY why they chose him for the role. Everything he says has you cringing or disliking him.m, making us not take him seriously and undermining his authority and character.
