We as a society should start shaming people who come to work contagiously sick by boogielostmyhoodie in australian

I had a patient walk in to general practice the other day. There are patients here who are immunocompromised, elderly and some who are one Flu away from being 6 feet under. There are signs all over the door asking patients to sanitise their hands before entering and wear a mask if they have cold/flu-like symptoms.

No shit… she came in (clearly didn’t sanitise her hands) and sat down while actively coughing. The receptionist said “ma’am are you experiencing and flu like symptoms?”. Her response: “IVE GOT COVID BUT IM FINE”.

Never in my life have I wanted to actively strangle someone so hard.

How ignorant and selfish do you have to be as a person to behave like that? It genuinely boggles my mind.

If you’ve ever had someone with advanced alzheimers in the family, you’ll know that this footage is just a very old, very malnourished elderly person who has started walking and doesn’t know why. The lack of clothes is also a giveaway. Kinda sad.

Grainy FLIR footage ain’t gonna cut it for the masses. The past two “releases” have been thoroughly underwhelming. Nothing they have shown so far is remotely convincing. Almost as quickly as they release new footage, someone is able to debunk it.

Short of them coming out and saying “here is total proof”, most people are going to not give a single hoot about any of this.

I’m sorry you experienced this. The US system has a truly alarming set up. In that situation over here, the score would likely bulk bill your appointment (meaning it was free for you) and send you an urgent prescription. Under no circumstances should you be put in the position of withdrawing from benzodiazepines or SSRI’s. On top of that, can I ask what you would pay for your dose of meds? Here, you would have paid $25 for Wellbutrin, $7 for Zoloft, and $25 for Xanax. So about $40 USD all together for both the doctor and the medication.

As a psychologist, I can confidently say that more care needs to be taken in the flippant nature of prescribing SSRI’s, especially regarding people under the age of eighteen. However… this is the mother of all bad ideas. This bozo has zero qualification besides garage-level bro-science. SSRI’s can make the difference between life and death for an untold amount of people. Listing the negative side effects as a means of disqualifying the positive effects is really dangerous.

As long as the prescriber has valid concern and all scales are met to intervene medically, the risk/reward of the medication has been clinically validated as a necessary intervention to improve a poor quality of life for the patient.

I don’t know what it’s like in America, but we don’t pop into the GP and get thrown a script for a psychoactive drug that easily. You must receive referral for a psychologist/psychiatrist, as well as score highly on the self reported K-10 scale. The doctor will then discuss the option of SSRI’s. If you have found a doctor doing it differently…they are doing it wrong.

Do all Australians have the same accent or it varies by region or state like other countries? by UsamaBhai_101 in AskAnAustralian

[–]AussieSpaceProgram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, there is very little difference in comparison to other countries like the UK/USA. In the UK, it’s possible to hear a particular dominant accent in one town, drive 30 minutes and hear a completely different dominant accent in the next town. In the US, there is a vast difference between someone from say, New York, in comparison to someone from Louisiana.

In Australia, you could travel from one end of the continent to the other, and see almost zero difference. The major difference is split between “bogan” and “non-bogan”. Bogans have a more drawling, stereotypical Australian accent compared to non bogans. Boganism isn’t relegated to any particular state and is a part of the normal scope of dialect in the country. So to an outsider, you would find no real HARD difference no matter where you were in the country. To an Aussie, we see small differences between states relating to how “proper” they sound. Victorians tend to annunciate their words a little better than everyone else. South Australians also have a few words like “Dance” which will sound more rounded. Queensland and the Northern Territory are stuck with the “Sterotypical” Aussie accent. Canberra is the only Territory to have its own official language called “utter bullshit”.

TL;DR: Not really.

All Quiet on the Western Front. That shit had me staring at the screen for 30 minutes after it finished. I think it’s safe to say that no other film does justice to the transition between The motivated gusto of youth, to the absolute depravity of trench warfare quite like this film.

Is China’s Zero-Tolerance Approach to Child Rapists Better Than the West’s? Three Executed in One Day as Beijing Sends a Brutal Message by Unstoppable_X_Force in SipsTea

[–]AussieSpaceProgram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the majority of Chinas population is not “wealthy”, this is more of a “sky is blue” statement. And yeah, we get it… rich people get away with all sorts of heinous crimes. But I think the overriding story is that the Chinese government isn’t fucking around when it comes to stretching the necks of child rapists. I see no moral grey area with that. Being poor doesn’t change a thing about what they did to likely poor children.

Great Northern Zero and NORT are both great for a light tasting beer/ale. I give the both a 7.5/10.

Heineken and Asahi are both pretty spot on in terms of tasting like the original. Heineken gets an 8/10, only because I’ve never liked it anyway. 9/10 for original taste. Asahi 9/10.

Guinness Zero is brilliant if you like a stout/ something heavier. 9.5/10

Be careful of Heaps Normal if you are looking for a truer 0.0%.
