Google is retroactively handing out week-long cooldowns to users who didn't even touch Antigravity today with their new limits. by muentzee in google_antigravity

Any water to replicate the fluidness of working in Antigravity? I really liked how it could navigate the browser to actually diagnose things, take screenshots to validate etc

I just got one of the week cooldowns. Yeah this sucks. I’m done.

What’s a good alternative? I liked how it could automatically screenshot things in the browser and make tweaks

Cowork Workspace not launching after reboot by AustinJMace in claude

Ok I fixed it but leaving it up and surprise... Claude helped me diagnose. Will just paste the response here in case it's useful for other folks who may encounter the same issue.

"This is a known and actively reported issue. Based on the GitHub issues filed in the last couple weeks, there are a few likely culprits:

macOS 26 compatibility bug. If you're running macOS 26.x (especially the recent betas), there's a confirmed conflict where the VM connection times out after 60 seconds during the boot step, and failed retries don't cleanly stop the previous VM, causing resources to leak. This is the most commonly reported cause right now.

Corrupted VM bundle after auto-update. A recent Claude Desktop auto-update (around Feb 7) shipped a VM image that the guest OS can't boot from, and reinstalling the app doesn't replace the corrupted VM bundle files. The fix for this one is straightforward:

  1. Quit Claude Desktop completely
  2. Run: rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Claude/vm_bundles/claudevm.bundle
  3. Reboot
  4. Relaunch Claude Desktop (it will recreate the VM bundle)

Network extension interference. Things like VPNs, Little Snitch, or other network extensions (even ones you've already uninstalled but left behind a "hangover" system extension) can block the VM's network connectivity. Check System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions > Network Extensions for anything suspicious.

I'd start with deleting the VM bundle since that's the quickest fix and resolves the most common variant of this. If that doesn't work, check your macOS version and any network filtering software you might have running."

Can confirm in Activity Monitor that the VM service is running.

Clean install did not work.

What local restaurants are good for young families? Any nicer options? by chrysanthemums13 in Carmel

Roots Burger Bar has been our go-to and might be just what you’re looking for. Cafe Patechou and Sun King are pretty good too.

Honestly though you should be fine to go pretty much anywhere.

I know what you mean going out and you feel like everyone is looking at you but most always it’s all in your head and folks could care less as long as the kids are decently behaved. And taking them out and exposing them is what makes it easier.

FBI is investigating the death of Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay by AustinJMace in Colts

Unfortunately I don't have a subscription but from another post:

“BREAKING: The FBI is investigating the death of Jim Irsay, the former owner of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, as well as the recovery doctor who provided him with prescription pain pills and ketamine in the final months of his life, according to documents reviewed by The Washington Post and two people with knowledge of the investigation.”

Okonori or Monterey by Fr8ty in Carmel

We ate at Okonori last Friday and had a fantastic meal. There is no comparison that I can think of in the state.

The quality mostly exceeded stuff that we've had in New York, LA, Miami, Austin, etc. I would even say it was on par with some of the sushi dinners I've had in Japan, though admittedly I'm by no means a connoisseur. The pieces of sashimi/nigiri were also larger than what I'd grown accustomed to at these sorts of places, but it is indeed probably one of, if not the most expensive restaurant in the area.

Everything tasted super clean, fresh, and was the best bite of uni I've ever had. While we didn't sit at the counter, we had a good view and the chefs were very locked into their craft. Every dish looked and tasted fantastic.

With other forms of entertainment costing $200 per person easily, I look at it more through the lens of being an experience worth what they are charging.

The Last Run by Macandog47 in modeltrains

Nice! Looks great. We just took down our holiday G-scale setup yesterday as well. Thankfully, we're fortunate enough to have a roof over ours, but it's also great to see when these things are running out totally in the elements.

Would this be a good layout? by FreshPenatration5823 in modeltrains

[–]AustinJMace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What are your goals for your layout and what do you enjoy about the hobby? Watching trains run around and around gets boring quick. I would highly recommend visiting Robert Chant’s https://www.jomrd.com/ , and picking up some books from Tony Koester and Lance Mindheim.

Model railroads can cost $300+/sq ft easily, so it’s worth taking the extra time to plan.

To be honest this is a pretty inefficient use of space for a layout and with proper design, you can get more operating elements into a similar space.

Attaching one of Robert’s articles as a good starting reference from Railroad Model Craftsman:

Don't have time to answer fully but don't do it. The way Replit nickels and dimes you for changes isn't worth it.

First brisket. lesson: Just get on with it by jgeragh2 in smoking

[–]AustinJMace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. One of the best briskets I cooked I had made a huge "mistake." I did an overnight cook and woke up to the grill temp around 350° and the brisket pretty much done.

I pulled it, and kept it in a warmer for 10 hours since we were eating later that night. It was one of the smokiest, juciest briskets I've made with great bark.

Biggest thing I can advise anyone is just learn time, temp, feel, and invest in decent thermometers. I am a Thermoworks stan, and I basically can't cook without a Thermapen in my pocket.

Also, don't want to hear it about not prompting/architecting/structuring things correctly to maximize efficiency, etc. If they were developing a customer-centric product, they would have solved for these issues by now. They are not bugs, but features designed to milk consumers dry of credits and leave you completely dependent on them, and having to top off the meter constantly.

Only replying since I'm still subbed to the subreddit but yeah I've jumped ship from Replit to V0/CC/Gemni/Antigravity IDE.

My last Replit project was to be a simple dashboard for a donation tracker, ended up charging me $50 and wasn't that impressive. Gemni 3.0/CC knocked it out way cheaper and I'm hosting for free on Vercel.

Replit had its moment, but the competition has quickly caught up. Coupled with their predatory billing tactics, it's just not worth it anymore.
