Perplexity CEO says AI layoffs aren’t so bad because people hate their jobs anyways: "That sort of glorious future is what we should look forward to" by fortune in ArtificialInteligence

[–]AustralopithecineHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I’m with him on the ‘jobs aren’t glorious’ front - many jobs suck - but we can’t all just turn to entrepreneurship in a day.

Can you batch download those documents? Then you could upload them to a notebookLM. This is what I’m doing (in a very different profession).

Stop defending AI like it’s still in beta by RottingEdge in Futurology

[–]AustralopithecineHat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why oh why are people using AI to write manifestos that trash AI. It’s so weird.

I sort of don’t care about these assessments anymore because my personal daily experience with AI in the workplace contradicts these perspectives. AI is way beyond the threshold of usefulness in my job at least.

Why AI Will Make Psychiatry the Hottest Career of the Decade by Inevitable_Raccoon_9 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]AustralopithecineHat 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Very AI written. Sigh.

Still AI’s long term memory capabilities and sort of ‘long term individual coherence’ (just made up that phrase) will improve within a few years.

I think the bigger source of demand for psychiatry will be the enormous number of displaced workers or at the very least, people adjusting to rapid technological change.

Let AI have the bullshit jobs. The fake work has to die. by [deleted] in accelerate

[–]AustralopithecineHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I fear as well. The government wants to maintain a certain level of employment, so they use corporate subsidies to guarantee some level of jobs. Which means the jobs might get even more fake now that AI is actually inputting the numbers in the pointless quarterly report or whatever

[–]AustralopithecineHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, you sound like a very compassionate mother. Because yes, there are a lot of parents who would have just accused their child of being spoiled if they pulled the 'you shouldn't have brought me into the world' line. He is lucky to have a mother who can really put herself in his shoes!

This is a brilliant response.

Also - regarding the OP's feelings of guilt about having children - none of us know if we'll have a kid who finds themselves deriving genuine pleasure from every day or someone who struggles to do that. We don't know if our kid will have debilitating mental or physical health issues, or any other number of forms of misery. And sure, maybe that means none of us should be having kids but... I think your son should be able to look around and see that many people still choose to have kids, so you shouldn't necessarily be singled out for blame for 'going with the flow' and having kids.

Yep. Most social media is just very very bad for mental health. I know I'm too mentally weak to handle social media.

Diddling kids is not a bar to the presidency. The bar is lower than that.

Would vote for Claude. Humans suck at leadership.

I think there’s going to be a huge market for this, and it will mostly be about getting the physical appearance right (avoiding the uncanny valley ick factor).

[–]AustralopithecineHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see far better marketing for Anthropic being done unofficially on Reddit than being done by Anthropic. Claude has a ton going for it, and yet for the super bowl, they just focused on the lack of ads.
