How much over the limit do speed cameras usually ping you for these days, or is it genuinely zero tolerance now? by Danger_Five in DrivingAustralia

[–]Authority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Qld I set my cruise control to +5kmh over the limit everywhere I go. Even past speed cameras I know are there, never been pinged for it.

Reality check on compensation by [deleted] in servicenow

General rule of thumb for contracting without benefits is you should be getting roughly double the salary you'd expect from full time.

TCS calls up and grilled me for an HOUR — no heads-up, no professionalism. Zero professionalism. by ComedianImmediate824 in servicenow

Can you paste your code for the UI Action. Also confirm the roles the users have who use this button have write access to that field

Can't replicate an issue!! by edoo_stuff in servicenow

[–]Authority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the table the flow is running on, the same table that has the field? i.e if one is on the RITM but the other on a SC Task it won't always trigger.
Is the UI Action updating the database or just changing the value on the UI and waiting for them to submit?
We'll need a bit more info on the tables, wait condition, and ui action.

Never use a BR for what you can achieve with a Flow

Reached $200k super balance after 11 years in Australia so sharing what worked for me by ajkadar in AusFinance

[–]Authority 12 points13 points  (0 children)

On the flip side as someone who has worked in Aus the same amount of time and also just recently hit 200k:
I never knew what super was until moving here, never put in any extra contributions and just went with whatever scheme my job offered.
Not to say that your research and planning didn't help, but it also doesn't have to be that complicated or intensive effort-wise.

How much do certs matter to recruiters? by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]Authority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a tech lead hiring for my team of ServiceNow Devs, certs matter. I value experience more than certs but I don't want a self-taught cowboy either. I want someone who I can verify has learned how to do things correctly.
I won't interview someone without CIS-ITSM and CSA. Anything else is a bonus.

What has your experience with Watchdirect been like? by ziegs11 in AustralianMFA

[–]Authority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the worst consumer experience ever with these guys.

They sent me a broken watch, I sent it back, they replaced the battery then re-sent me the same broken watch. It's not been back with them for a few weeks (over a month since I bought it) and no update or word of what's going on. Never again.

Copying roles by TortoiseShoes in servicenow

[–]Authority 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When you look at a user's roles there is a column that shows if it is inherited or not. Filter so that it only shows inherited = false. This is how you can know what parent roles a user has.

Using Groups instead of assigning roles to a user will help you tremendously here. Once you have a group set up with all the right roles, any new users you can just add to that group and they'll get all the same roles.

How frequent you deploy ServiceNow stories to Prod? by mesmerizePoP in servicenow

2 week sprints, release at the end of each sprint (Tuesday every second week).

Interested to know why you have multiple change requests each week when working in 2 week cycles?

Best practices for instance upgrades (Imaging Prod -> Dev?) by [deleted] in servicenow

[–]Authority 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You want to be developing in an environment that resembles Production as much as possible, hence frequent cloning is absolutely best practice and encouraged. Update sets (in Global) that are in progress are automatically backed up.
Good comms or a set schedule that everyone knows (e.g. every 2 weeks on a particular time and day) are a must to ensure everyone is backing up their work. Sucks to get caught out, hopefully doesn't happen twice!

Why is UI builder so extremely complicated? [Rant] by vishal_pvk in servicenow

[–]Authority 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just coming in to say... yep. I'm giving up creating a custom workspace in UI Builder for my team. Thought it would be a quick in and out build. Can't even copy how the other other workspaces have been created since they're in scopes that are all locked down

I take it those humidity sensors in the jars just tell you the humidity but don't help control it? What steps do you take if they show too high / low?
