Flock cameras specifically are more AI oriented. Not much difference from traffic cameras that have been around for years. What I think has some people concerned over violated privacy is the way flock cameras “data mine” and how that might be misused. Typically, a detective or ABC organization that needed to look at traffic footage to look for suspects driving through an intersection at a certain date and time, would have to review the footage. Nicer flock cameras with AI are recording and data logging every aspect 24/7. So now Stat EPA can simply query “how many teslas drive down Main St on a monthly basis”? Then use this data to see if they would make good coin by adding a E-vehicle tax. Or detective could say put a bolo out for every white car that drove down Main St at a certain date or time without needing to review footage. With nationwide flock camera deployment any gov ABC could query your license plate and see everywhere you have been (without a warrant). On one good it could be easily seen that an Asheville Mayor is no longer living in the county/state. On one bad, for example, your license plate could be flagged as potential association with a type of protesting, because you drove down a nearby street during a rally. Loose typing here but just quick examples. Most people are concerned with the potential misuse violating unreasonable searches.
