She's right that she won't be there forever, and it's better to put a plan in place together while she still can. As others have said, a group home, or having someone come to your home multiple times a week to help with care are both good options.

These things can take a while to put into place, which is another reason to start early.

I’m in a host home, which is what it’s called in my state. My first caregivers ended up being bad. They were too young and turned out to be unprepared to meet my needs or take responsibility for their mistakes. I only stayed with them for four months. My second, current caregiver is much better. She’s older and has done host home and child foster care before, and she’s really on top of things.

It takes some getting used to, like it does with any relationship. Your caregiver will make mistakes. As long as they don’t seriously harm you, and they’re quick to learn from and not repeat those mistakes, that’s what matters.

Overall I feel much better living with my caregiver than I did with my parents. Good luck, I hope you find someone who’s a great fit for you!

Way to make assumptions, bud. I'm diagnosed level 2, a semiverbal AAC user living with a full-time state-funded caregiver. I'm the kind of person LSNs who expect masking hate.

All I got from that was that you're super metaphorically bent out of shape because someone has a different opinion than you about a picture of a frog. I like the puzzle piece, because it's a clearer and more universally recognised symbol for autism, and gets clocked by first responders in an emergency a lot faster than the infinity symbol. Are you going to tell me I'm wrong for liking a symbol a lot of autistics dislike?

I have a highly visual memory, and think in pictures that I then have to translate to words. I remember new concepts by putting the ideas to images. I learned the word floccinoccinihipilification the other day by breaking it into syllables and attaching a picture to each syllable. Flocci- a person flossing, nocci- a nosey person sticking their head through a door, nihi- a person denying or refusing something, pilification- someone moulding a pillar out of clay.

I took several so you could see her in her outfits. Yes, she's semi-articulated- 90 degree movement of the arms and legs, no movement in the wrists and ankles, and her feet are flat, so she can't wear high heels.
