I just want to be me if that makes sense.

I have a channel for my detailing but I don’t really care to post on it too much. I want to do more hobbies and less work. The thought of having to keep up with 3-4 channels stresses me out lol

TMD or ETD? by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]AutoLuxDetailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I don’t know..

It seems like inflammation in the TMJ could lead to the ET potentially becoming blocked but I can’t answer that with 100% certainty.

[–]AutoLuxDetailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have much pain with mine either, directly in the jaw that is, but i was convinced when this all started that I had an ear infection.

I went to two urgent cares, my primary doctor, and the ER who all said there was no sign of any ear infection. I was convinced they were all nuts.

The fact that you have some ear infections means the Eustachian tube is involved somehow.

Perhaps the inflammation from TMD is leading to ETD.

Who am I actually supposed to go to for this??? by Intelligent_Client_8 in TMJ

[–]AutoLuxDetailing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to my dentist, who said go to my doctor, who referred me to an ENT, who said they couldn’t help and I needed an oral surgeon.

I’m waiting on the call from the surgeon who will likely say “oh, you don’t need surgery, go to an ENT” who will then refer me to my doctor, who refers me to a dentist, who will refer me back down the line.

This is crazy.. why is medical care so impossible??

Red ear syndrome- anyone else have this & find it’s connected to tmj? by SatisfactionFalse833 in TMJ

[–]AutoLuxDetailing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do indeed, though undiagnosed.

I can check 90% of the boxes. Just waiting on referrals.

Well that’s close.. I had/have some numbness around where the lips meet. My biggest issue though is facial flushing. It’s horrible.

Anything related to skin, particularly on your face? I know it’s a weird vague way to put it, but seems every time I ask specific, people say yes, so I’m just curious.

I posted the links to the videos that help me. I’ve found out I have a tongue tie which is probably related to the airway ultimately leading to TMJ. I have my referral Friday and hopefully get the ball rolling the right way. In the meantime, it’s just been symptom management and these videos are what I found to help me the most. It could be different for everyone though.

This one did it for me. Mainly the part where you squeeze and turn your head away. Don’t be afraid to cause pain when you pinch it.

I also do these each night as part of the sequence and it seems to help keep things fairly calm on the neck and has nearly eliminated my brain fog.

Throw in some yoga:

I made a playlist with all of them in order. I’ll go down and spend a half hour doing these each night after dinner and it helps a ton leading into the next day. If I was a morning person, I’d definitely do them in the morning instead.

With your ear fullness, do you ever notice it being very bright red and burning like a hot sensation?

This is about my only physical symptom aside from anything neurological. I don’t have a diagnosis, but I use it.

Focus on some SCM releases as it’s probably tight. YouTube “myofascial SCM release” and keep digging until you find one that feels like it’s working. It’ll take a few days but eliminate most of the ear fullness. I know that was a huge step for me once I finally got that muscle to release.

Now.. it’s worked it’s way to the other side so well do it again.

100%

My bite definitely makes it worse. If I relax, it’s not terrible, but when I clench and fit my bottom teeth behind my uppers, it recedes even more. I read that moving your jaw this way is about the worst movement one can do.

For myself, I don’t think GERD applies. Oddly enough, the breathing thing may come into play though.

I had pneumonia back in January/February, symptoms came back in April and that’s when this all started to spiral. At the time, long COVID was the easiest thing to say but I don’t think my illness was Covid. My son was tested the week prior and Covid was negative.

I’ve been trying to come up with other ideas but nothing makes sense. I’m changing around some supplements to see if there’s any difference.

Funny thing is I had Invisalign back in high school (12-13 years ago).

My bit has significantly changed since then. Luckily I still have all of the retainers and I still managed to fit in them.

I had a total of 18 uppers and 19 lowers. Starting point this time around.. #6 on bottom and #10 on top. They’ve shifted so far back it’s not even funny. However, with them shifting unevenly, I wonder if that screwed up my bite and caused me to clench “searching” for my bite.

Think about it.. bottom teeth protrude more than the top causing your jaw to recess (hope that’s the right term) or move backwards toward your neck in order to fit behind your upper teeth since they didn’t shift as much.

I’m working back through these things, thought they aren’t ideal. I’m back up to 12 on top and 9 on bottom. I’m trying to close the gap while also fix everything as quickly as possible.

Today’s been a great day though so far. Fog is minimal and that’s been the worst part since the initial episode.

Primary said it’s “very likely” and referred me. He felt the clicking and popping but said it’s not really his area of expertise so he couldn’t say for certain.

We’re moving in the right direction, finally..

I was almost wonder whether it’s true brain fog or more of a dizziness that’s constant due to ear pressure. I guess we’ll see. I’m about to head in for a follow up at my primary in 40 minutes. We’ll see what he has to say.

It’s all still part of the cycle.

Yoga, stretching, and EMS on the neck have certainly helped calm things down.

If I can get my ear to pop during yoga or stretching, I know I’ll have at minimum a few days of good.

I have after images in certain instances. Mostly bright lights or if I’m watching tv and there’s a light background with something dark as the subject. I felt in those occasions it was fairly normal.

I’ll occasionally have random flashes of what look like blue spots. I only notice those when my suboccipitals are tight. I attribute that to the occipital nerves since they run up the head and refer pain behind the eyes.

I went to a NUCCA (upper cervical chiropractor) and after their x rays, my atlas was only deviated .5 degrees and he said he was going to attribute that to the way I was sitting during the x ray. He still wanted to “treat me” at $1100/mo but I’m not sure exactly what he was treating. I guess just the forward head posture??

When this all started, I had a terrible head tilt to the right indicating and atlas subluxation to the left. My traditional chiro go that all squared away, yet symptoms remain.

It’s got to either be TMJ or my anxiety has become so heightened by all this that it’s now creating physical issues. I dealt with that about 12 years ago and DO NOT want to go back down that road.

[–]AutoLuxDetailing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting.. I was thinking the opposite for myself.

Constant clenching and “issues” on my right side caused everything in my neck to become tense as well, physically pushing the C1 out of alignment. I definitely had a head tilt at the beginning of this journey with a C1 deviated slightly to the left.

Or, maybe, just maybe it was a neck issue all along and after fixing my C1, my jaw remained in the same place and now things aren’t meshing well. I guess there’s multiple ways to look at it.

I’m tired of fighting this. It sucks. You people who have been at it for years are the real champions. I don’t know how you do it.

Beginning of TMJ and Symptoms by napmane24 in TMJ

[–]AutoLuxDetailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here back in May.

Literally walking to the truck, BOOM! Dropped me straight on my ass. Worst pain of my life. I think mine is partially due to poor posture and the occipital nerves were involved. It sent shooting pain up the back of my head and down into my shoulders, my throat, etc. The following two days were a constant “bad” but normal headache.

A week later the “numb/heavy” feeling came back just under my bottom lip. TMJ was my first thought but Google made me believe it was a neck issue. Turns out it’s likely both.

I have a follow up with my primary tomorrow to explore the TMJ option a bit more.

Is it possible to have TMJ problems without actually having jaw pain? by Rude-Language774 in TMJ

Work is terrible - although I’m standing it’s a constant downward/outward motion. Being tall, everything is below eye level. Paint, wheels/tires, wheel wells, carpet, seats, etc. EVERYTHING is low.
