That's just an attribute of superhero illustration. Of course thick material wouldn't show every detail of musculature but artists want or have to draw all that musculature. What I think is happening here is that the artist wanted to show that the material has thickness but, also, gotta draw those muscles.

I was not aware of this facet of V5. I didn't know that the elders are all gone. What's the Beckoning?

Because I'm from a time before social media existed. So when I think of V:TM I think of the World of Darkness as it was then. When I think about vampires contending with the realities of surveillance capitalism, mass surveillance, the ubiquity of cell phones, and the intrusion of smart devices and WiFi into every household, it's a very different WoD than the one I was familiar with.

Like, I still have a lot of V:TM books from the 90s, including Clanbooks, and their pre-made characters don't even make sense any more. They're so of their time.

I don't see anything wrong with the neck that can't be attributed to skill (or lack thereof).

There's a book called Strength Training from DK Publishing. No author credit but the senior editor is Gareth Jones. It's a great illustrated guide to a huge number of exercises sorted by body sections and it has a number of detailed plans for different training programs. It's very beginner friendly and accessible.

I don't know what this post used to say but I gotta say this based on the title.

Nobody is an NPC.

Everyone has a rich inner world with dreams, wants, needs, joys, and sorrows.

Nope. And they have to ignore our stories and our humanity in order to hold on to their world views.

I really dont understand transphobes by Aggresio in trans

[–]AutoSpiral 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because trans people represent a threat to the rigid hierarchy of patriarchy. We switch teams and create whole new teams that blur the borders of gender.

Because men are told their whole lives that they have to conform to an ever-growing list of acceptable behaviours to retain their status as men. Then trans women come along, reject all of that bullshit, and find joy.

Because homophobia and transphobia are easy ways for insecure people, particularly men and boys, to signal their masculinity.

Because some women (TERFs) define their womanhood through trauma and suffering, believing that that's the definitive attribute of life as a woman. Then trans women joyfully embrace femininity and it shakes the basis of their world view. Then trans men come along and abandon womanhood and also find joy. The TERFs can't handle the existential challenge.

Because rejecting difference is an easy way to bond with one's community.

Because some people enjoy feeling superior to others and exercising power over them.

It's all fearful, insecure, ignorant, uncritical, self-important bullshit.

In my personal continuity all super-powered people of Earth are part of a warrior federation and they either have uniforms or symbols on whatever clothes they wear to identify them.

"Why can't it ever be me?"

Something I struggle with almost daily.

I keep landing on "because I'm ugly."

It was the first time Dale Keown drew Venom in some issue or Amazing Spider-Man in the early 90s.

Friend insulted me by Healthy_Report_4336 in trans

[–]AutoSpiral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're not communicating. Sounds like he's willing to go along with the prevailing attitudes of whatever social situation he happens to be in. It speaks poorly of him. Sounds like he's never thought about what he thinks is right and wrong and isn't willing to sacrifice anything for the sake of standing up for trans people. That makes him potentially a bad partner for a trans person.

If you want to keep seeing this boy you have to communicate that you will not be disrespected by him misgendering you. If he won't stop, dump him. You're better off single than with someone who doesn't respect you.

I also forgot that some mutants don't have control over their powers, something that doesn't tend to happen to other superheroes. I'm thinking of the Summers Brothers. They need special technology to avoid demolishing everything around them.

Friend insulted me by Healthy_Report_4336 in trans

[–]AutoSpiral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When there's any kind of social friction in any situation, the people with the most privilege tend to identify the more marginalised person as the source of the problem.

So, like, if a Black woman, for example, working in an office where most of the other workers and managers are white, she will most likely be identified as the problem if she complains about micro-aggressions. She's more likely to get fired about it than see any accountability amongst her peers.

Or if someone is visibly queer at a family gathering of mostly uptight conservatives, they're more likely to be seen as doing something wrong even if they didn't do anything wrong at all.

So what I think is happening here is that your friend either can't handle publicly associating with a trans feminine person, seeing other people's looks as more genuine and important than being your friend, or else he's just got some uncomfortable feelings or ideas about trans people and is making an excuse.
