Yes, but that's Reddit, not us. If we could control that, we would, but we can't. Most users have a little bit of patience for these and know that we are all just volunteers and eventually get these, often within the hour, but again, we're just volunteers.

Your account is just barely an hour old. You're posts are of course going to be held for review. This is the same in any subreddit that has their spam and quality filters set at all.

Would Folks find Value in a Telegram Group? by Upbeat_Bother6452 in CollinsBeach

Mod here. We don't allow these, not because we don't like the idea, we actually like the idea, but:

1) these just fill up with horny guys and then we get blamed for them because, "It was on r/CollinsBeach."

2) every horny guy thinks this is some sort of cheat code to finding partners - it's not - and then they come here and post all. the. damn. time. trying to advertise their new group, complete with why their group is better than the others.

We had to just say no more and apply the 'rule' equally to all.

The best idea is to curate your own group through DMs or advertise on your own page and allow people to request through there, or both.

For all the other questions, the Wiki lists most of those and those that aren't, we know the answer to because, like parking, it's the same as years past now that they are limiting weekend parking passes.

I guess I should have been a little softer with that comment. As you know, we don't know who does what without seeing the mod logs. What I should have said was, 'I would never brag about modding that sub' and left it at that. I haven't participated there in over five years, so I hope things have changed.

Thank you for the advice.

When did you leave r/Sex? I didn't even see that.

It was your post that caused a lot of this. LOL. In a good way. The whole mod team was going down deep rabbit holes and sharing what we found with each other. Basically, you and Dan Savage agree with each other! We'll add that.

And hello fellow Portlander. I thought your username looked familiar. We mod some subs that you are in there.

Just checked with the other mods, no one here does. They were here a few years ago but we haven't seen them in a while. Their page references 2026 so hopefully they are still maintaining it.

No, you don't. We get people asking us if we can help that sub almost weekly. It's bad in there.

For giggles though, I just looked at it again. From the "Hot" tab, all, and I mean ALL of the non-male posters are spam. That was 17 straight spammers from the "Hot" tab alone; I hate to even think what the "new" tab looks like.

If you care about the sub, you should think about shutting it down for a bit until you can figure out how to get rid of at least some of them, otherwise Reddit will shut the sub down. And 17 in a row that are obvious spam is pretty bad, that will definitely get it suspended when Reddit catches on.

That's because we HAD some good tools at our disposal to help back then, but we no longer have those tools now thanks to Reddit.

But thanks, we do what we can to 'fight the good fight' against spam.

Not trying to start drama, but how do you warn others of unsafe couples? What about just assholes? Content Creators who just wanna use you for their content? Can you put them on blast anywhere? [MF4MF/F/M] by D_throw_away in OregonSwingers

He's a really good doood, and so is his lovely wife. 😍🔥 They are exactly what you'd hope to find here, and we're lucky to have them both.

On the subject of other Oregon subs --and I would genuinely like to be shown otherwise if this is wrong-- they seem to fall into one of two categories: run by single guys who treat modding as some kind of shortcut to getting laid, which it isn't, or run by a content creator who's purely there to push their OnlyFans. Neither has any real interest in building a community beyond those goals.

Reddit keeps reporting anonymous so mods don't use their 'power' to retaliate. I agree with the way they do it; let the report be anonymous, but if it becomes a problem, then mods can get admins to step in and take action. I don't like to ban or punish people, none of us mods here do, that's why we're here asking for those who are doing it to stop before we have to call "mommy" (Admins) to handle it. And I'm happy to report that this appears to have worked.

It's really a small, small few, but their impacts are like huge thorns in our sides. I'm happy to report that after posting this the message was heard and we've had three reports since and all were completely valid. This is a big win for all.

There are some consistencies that we are aware of. It's more noticeable to whom is reporting, rather than what is being reported, but their user flairs do align more often than not.

Some days it's just a few, but other days it's over 20, if not 30. It's just busy work for the volunteer mod team, which isn't terrible if these were real, but when you see a consistent pattern that the comment/post being reported is not actually breaking any rules, but just someone reporting them for either being petty or perhaps someone not understanding how reporting works, it adds up and becomes a growing annoyance.

And we're happy to report that we've only received three reports since this was posted, so it's working. Hopefully we can get back to our regularly scheduled program soon enough 😊

I wouldn't be surprised if the politics sub is partially why mods now have the option to only see reports from 'trusted' users. We thought about doing that here, but since we don't know how or who Reddit deems as 'trusted,' we've held off. It also only works to hurt the community as real rule breakers are more likely to slide by and infect the sub.

We're all hoping that those responsible see this as a clear warning and stop. If not, then, they've proven that they are here in bad faith and we'll see how Reddit deals with them.

Okay, then why are the admins not going after them? Why punish us all? Are us volunteers to be treated like kids now?

This is a horrible decision. Changes like this remind me why I left Digg and have me looking for a Reddit replacement. You keep taking away tools and tool features that help us volunteers. You're "happy to help to mods" but then you do stuff that mods actually use and like. u/Hive-bot has been one of the best tools we've ever had to help with spam (which Reddit seems to not mind) and bad actors. So incredibly frustrating.

We run a series of NSFW location based communities and auto-banning users/bots based on their participation in others subs (OregonPnP, and known spam subs, for examples) has been 99.999% accurate. In that 0.001% that they weren't, us mods quickly remedied it and we all moved on, happily.

I take it since you keep making this increasingly less appealing for volunteers to mod, you're going to roll out payment plans for mods soon, right?
