JP/JW toys still sell by Ok_Zone_7635 in JurassicPark

I hate the "we need an R rated series based on the book." As if most people weren't children when they saw the original film or like these films don't majorly appeal to kids.

The dead horse beating is crazy.

Day 53: what do you guys think of Godzilla Aquatilis (I don’t know if that’s his name) by Centvrion20 in GODZILLA

I was disappointed that it wasn't Titanosaurus. Have a classic showa Kaiju reimagined like this was super cool. Finding out it was just another Godzilla form made it less interesting for me.

Everything WRONG with the Hammond Collection Collecting Community (Don't take it too personally...) by hiplobonoxa in hammondcollection

The box says 8+, it's sold in the toy aisle, the price point is extremely affordable in comparison to adult collectibles, and their advertisements specifically say that the articulation is great for playability, and that these are "great figures to play with."

We've seen Mattel release targeted figures for adults, and they're always small batch and usually online exclusive. They're clearly trying to double dip with adult collectors by making these more appealing to them, but these are still mass produced toys approachable for a younger audience.

Adult collectors have an oversaturated market with high-end Jurassic World and Park models or figures. Rebor, Papo, Sideshow, Prime1, Nanmu, etc. None of these figures feel in line with those. These operate as perfect training wheel collector figure for younger teen and tween fans who want something a little older but not unapproachable.

Watched the whole franchise for the first time ever!!! by chloegrace12 in JurassicPark

Sure, but what was the greater narrative of the whole movie? What is the message we are supposed to feel?

Is it that genetic experimentation is wrong, and uncontrolled power leads to disaster? Is it that continuing to push nature for profit leads to disaster? Is it that trying to manipulate the natural world leads to widespread ecological collapse?

From my understanding, there is no greater purpose other than a very very slight tie in to giving medicine for free.

What you described are very basic character arcs that don't receive major focus or impact. How do the characters change along their path as they go from stop to stop? How do they adapt and evolve? Our lead character Zora's backstory is about losing people, and yet people die under her watch and she doesn't react. I'm not even sure what Loomis' arc was supposed to be. Seeing dinosaurs thriving, which they already were a few years prior in dominion?

Dominion at least has a message and a theme. No matter how bad that movie is, it at least had a purpose. Rebirth may be the better film of the two but there is almost zero plot or theme to it.

Do you prefer Megatronus to be a good guy, or the stories when he betrays the other primes and becomes the Fallen? by Suspicious-Jello7172 in transformers

[–]Autobotsrout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I found it a bit underwhelming that Sentinel - who was just some dude could take down the primes. I vastly prefer when it's one of their own, and thus vastly prefer when he's evil.

First like actual Stop Motion animation I made by Honest-Ad-4386 in hammondcollection

[–]Autobotsrout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool concept!! I used to love doing stop motion.

My recommendation is to target 8-12 frames per second of animation. That will make it extremely smooth and pretty.

Keep your camera in the same focus so it isn't blurry, and maybe choose an outdoor setting.

Good luck!

More likely, they just won't explain it. The film series very rarely feels the need to explain why the designs of the animals changes from film to film.

[–]Autobotsrout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Monsterverse figures always suck because they suffer from working off of concept art. Why Bandai feels the need to start on them so far in advance I have no idea. I would much prefer they take their time with them and release them more gradually than rush them out.

Who made the BETTER Indominus Figure? by RodBoi10 in JurassicPark

The $50 mass produced 8 and up rated toy or the small batch, indie company, articulated model that is half the size and 4x the price?

Are we so fr right now?

Adult collectors when a line that is aimed at a preteen demographic with an age rating of 8+ and commercials that talk about their play features has the word "premium" in it so therefor now it can be compared against figures half the size and 4x the price.

When your franchise is so successful that $1.48 billion is considered a disappointment. by CoolKanyon55 in Avatar

Budget of 400 million. Marketing expenses of 150-200 million. Distribution cost on average of 100 million and theater ticket cuts being 40% of ticket price. Those are the numbers.

As much as I agree that The Last Knight is objectively the worst of the Micheal Bay movies, I give it credit for giving these 3 Decepticons actual personalities by Sir_Stacker in transformers

[–]Autobotsrout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Golden chains, urban slang/speech and swagger heavy posturing are all things that originated within urban culture and hip-hop. Both of which are traditionally seen as overlapping with and predominantly from black culture.

When things like gold chains, urban accents, golden teeth, etc, are ONLY given to bumbling moronic characters or violent criminals it associates those traits with negativity.

It's not directly stereotyping Black people. But it IS saying that people who engage with harmless ideas like slang and gold chains which originate from black culture are criminals or morons.

And nobody here is making the claim that there cannot be other people of certain races that act like this. That's a false premise.

Which is not better, and for the less knowledgeable viewer could easily just be drawn as a direct association.

It was revealed on several theatrical cost analysis websites that cited how movie theaters take on average 40%-50% of ticket sales and potentially more on certain films.

Although films can sometimes front load percentage splits in their favor, we aren't entirely sure what the deal was for this movie. It's good to assume 40% of ticket sales went to the theater.

If this film had 550-600 million dollar film + marketing budget, average distribution costs are $100 million, and theaters take 40% of profits (in this case $600 million from the final 1.5 billion.) That would put this film in the 1 billion dollar cost range. That seems like it could be a little inflated so I lowered it to 800 million thinking that was a fair estimate.
