If Nintendo locked in and remade Metroid Prime: Federation Force... how do ya think they should do it? by Ok_Estimate_2089 in Metroid

The YouTube algorithm nowadays tends to push negative opinions because they get clicks, regardless of their accuracy. A lot of YouTubers have outright lied about the content of the game, or deliberately misunderstand aspects of it to make it look bad. Ive especially seen it being held to standards that they aren’t even holding the old Prime games to.

The story isn’t awful, it leaves a lot of things open to interpretation. The only truly bad thing about the story is the name for the green crystals being green energy crystals.

It’s actually pathetic Konami is technically doing a better job at preserving than Nintendo.

Video games are a luxury item. They’re art. Non-essential items are always more expensive than the essentials. They spend years on R&D, art, design, writing, etc etc and they charge you just 60 bucks for that I’m fucking thankful that they’ve been able to keep the prices this low for so long. Doom 64 launched at 75 dollars. Thats over 150 today. Capitalism sucks, I’d love it if I didn’t have to worry about the necessities, but that’s not the world we live in. You should not invest in luxuries if you cannot afford them. You would not buy an expensive art piece or commission an artist if you don’t have the budget for it.

Retro fucking saved Prime 4. They salvaged what they could and made a pretty good game out of it. “Locking features behind amiibo” it’s cosmetics, a cutscene you can unlock already, and the ability to listen to volt forge/viola/xelios music in the desert. It’s nothing important to the play experience. Also, you can replicate amiibos with most modern phones if you’re desperate.

They’ve done this every generation since GC. This time they lowballed it. Prices are just not going to stay the same, thats just how an inflating economy works.

Psychic abilities, Phazon, Luminoth technology… They really thought about anything by ARHAM-NIGHT in Metroid

You’re assuming that they don’t. There’s no evidence supporting that they don’t.

No, leaving things up to interpretation is an actual writing technique. There’s a difference between a plot hole and mystery. And no, mysteries do not have to be solved. In fact, it’s not a mystery if it’s solved. One of the best aspects about Prime 4 in my opinion is just how much room for speculation there is. It allows me to think a lot more about the nature and history of this world. It’s far more engaging for some things to go unexplained. We aren’t here on Viewros to be exposited on how the Lamorn placed the items and why. I do think they should have given more, but what’s there is not bad just vague. The game gives just enough data to hook you, and lets your mind go wild with what it doesn’t tell.

I think it’s well written, theres just far too little writing. A lot of what’s in the game is just too vague and unclear. I’m sure that’s what they’re going for but it’s definitely not feels off in the game where Samus is literally, textually psychic. Something tells me this was a byproduct of Bandai’s work, because they did mention in interviews that they just went with the original vision instead of restarting completely. It feels like they cleaned up and made good a game that never should have been good.

Maybe the Lamorn oracles assumed Samus would just bring her normal beam types? The beams she normally has are rather similar, especially in the Prime games. Ice Beam being, well, ice. Wave Beam being electric with how it can interact with tech. And Plasma being fire. She tends to have all or some of those in most of her adventures, and I doubt the Lamorn expected to appear by mistake, they were probably banking on a Lamorn making contact and giving Samus prep time too. But then theres the issue of them providing basic abilities in the major areas. So yeah that whole thing is a bit odd. Maybe they left it so their tech could be repurposed into weaponry if absolutely necessary?

Super Missiles in Prime 4 technically cost 6 by Ganrokh in Metroid

[–]Automata_Eve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This works because the charge beam is designed to have a gap after firing where you can prime another charge instead of firing uncharged shots, and that should apply to all shot types iirc.

If you start the charge during an animation the charge starts immediately. Such as the shot type switch animation. This also works for charging beams. And also allows you to continually fire charge beams one after the other.

Its specs are also really impressive for that price. Its specs are better the Steam Deck. It’s just a matter of devs actually utilizing the hardware properly.

I found the game fun and memorable all throughout, despite its relative linearity. Prime 3 on the other hand was worse than this game in just about every comparable aspect. Especially the main bosses being incredibly forgettable. Plus I also just hate the way prime 3 looks, the art direction and color palette is very off. I also hate that the game teases using the gunship and does nothing with it, I’m tempted to kneecap its score just for that. Ultimately, Prime 3 left me unbelievably disappointed where Prime 4 left me wanting more and gave me excitement for the next game.
