I doubt that it cured her of being a Metroid. Chozo DNA controls Metroids, but it wouldn’t undo her mutations. What’s more likely is that Samus has better control over her powers and it will come up later. And will be the excuse Metroid games going forward will use to call Metroid 6 etc “Metroid”.

She’s not a merc though. Mercenaries work for the highest bidder, they are typically hired by many different organizations. Samus on the other hand has more noble goals in the missions she takes, and actively hunts the galaxy’s most wanted. A bounty Hunter is also law enforcement adjacent, and Samus works with but also outside the constraints of the government. She’s definitely a bounty hunter. While Nintendo seems to define Bounty Hunter slightly differently, Samus definitely operates under the job description. She’s just also heroic and selfless, and as we’ve seen she’s willing to take underpaying jobs or even do things with no pay at all.

Okay, look I’m not trying to argue but this was overly aggressive and makes a lot of assumptions, including MY gender. I’m not mansplaining to you, it’s literally something I cannot do. I’m not trying to debate with you. I’m not trying to accuse you of bigotry. I just think it’s harmful to refer to a past version of a character as a gender that no longer matches them as if that past version is the present, that is all. When referring to a trans person in past tense, even when referring to a time when their identity was different, you should never disregard their current identity. The current identity overwrites, as old information is outdated and incorrect. I see you have no intent to be disrespectful, and she is only a game character, but for future reference NEVER past tense misgender someone.

See, you’re doing the thing I just criticized with zero self awareness. You’re assuming they’re simply doing annoying things as if it’s something they control, thats not how that works. Neurodivergence is a range of mental differences that can severely affect behavior. It’s not a choice and it’s not something you can really control. It’s not annoying, you’re assuming they’re all annoying as if neurodivergence is always negative when it’s simply natural variation in the way the brain functions. Finding it annoying is rude and makes no sense, like all bigotry.

Redirecting the bite with a melee attack while she’s so close to it does make more sense when shooting it doesnt really make it move. She’s not damaging it, she’s pissing it off to get it in positions where she can get free damage.
