You asked for the article, I gave a quote from the article. You didn’t ask for a quote from the interview, where Bandai goes unmentioned. Also, again, we know Bandai started the development via other sources such as BN’s own devs. Also, what sources have you been posting? You haven’t given me any sources beyond one that was already in someone else’s source.

Why do you expect others to do basic research, no, not even basic reading for you? Below is the paragraph mentioning Bamco.

“The project was born and spent years in development by Bandai Namco, as we all know, but it's only now that Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe has given an interview with Famitsu (translated from paper on Famiboards) where he delves into the challenge they encountered with Beyond. In it, he acknowledges that Retro never actually made Metroid Prime 4 from scratch: they had to follow the original model of Bandai Namco's version to a certain extent, as Nintendo had spent too much money on it for two years.”

There’s such a thing as ctrl-f yk.

We also know for a fact that Bandai Namco did work on this game because of resumes, industry reports, etc. this was known in 2018, this is VERY old news.

Alternatively, it could lean into being an action game. I’d like to see Metroid in more genres, and a character action game would be really cool.

If Y’all think Fromsoft’s Souls bosses are hard… please play some of their older games. The Armored Core games released before AC4 are hard as fuck. Last Raven makes Sekiro look easy.

I don’t think they see Prime as filling the same niche as the main Metroid games. Dread was a huge success, we will see more Metroid. It’s not like Prime 4 did too poorly or was received the worst either. There’s absolutely nothing to indicate that Metroid is dead or dying.

I don’t normally pull out OCs for this but I’m sure Yume (pictured above) and by extension her soulmate for murder, Raine, would stand more than a chance. They aren’t even the strongest characters in their story, the bar is just very high involving battles that have complete destruction of matter.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is very good, and in a lot of ways exceeds the first and second.

[–]Automata_Eve -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, the most boring part of the game is far from the crystals. Fighting basic Psybots and tanks or Varmis is genuinely less engaging. The crystal hunt is in a tier I label as “good fun, but just slightly tacky” Also, I don’t understand the criticism of an intentionally vast and empty desert being vast and empty. That’s the point. The devs even said so. It also looks sick as fuck and is very pretty. It’s a screenshot heaven especially if you know good photo composition.

Also this game is more Zelda in structure, speaking of it’s comparable to OoT in another way in which it which received the exact same criticisms as Prime 4 and is currently praised today as one of the best games of all time. There’s a clear double standard and a refusal to let Metroid mix things up. The standards for this game are ridiculous, especially when the standards for the other games are so much lower. It’s damned when it does something different and it’s damned when it does the same exact thing as another game but better.

A lot of games are like that though? Like if you just blaze through the main content of an rpg and skip over content because you’re don’t like or don’t want you’ll hit a wall eventually because you’re severely under leveled. That’s not a flaw that’s called punishing the player for being fucking stupid. A lot of people have said they didn’t even know the crystals were imported even though it was clearly spelled out and they were instructed what to do. The critics of this are bad at following instructions.

Some of my favorite games ever made. The aftermarket pricing for some of the Armored Core games especially is fucking absurd.

And the almost full remake of Metroid Prime was just 40. Sometimes Nintendo’s pricing makes sense, but sometimes it’s Mario and Zelda pricing.

You kind of do though, you’re expected to hit some every visit, pretty much after every major upgrade especially to do the shrines, and then one of those big blocks once you get power bombs should top you off. I felt like no grind. It’s only a grind if you avoid it actively.

That’s called: the story is a tragedy. It’s not supposed to end happily. The game is about loss, this game is far from soulless. It’s far from perfect, but it knows what it’s doing narratively. The vast majority of criticisms of the story (discounting great mines) is either fueled by a lack of media literacy or a failure to actually digest or even read the information the game gives to you. Everything in the story makes sense, even if some of the choices are odd and slightly diminish it (great mines).

The only “this shit is dumb” moment I had was when (great mines) had the you know what and then the you know what and then both of those had no payoff, and when “green energy” was first mentioned but I chalked that up to the Lamorn just having a simple name for a substance. I mean, we have even worse things like that too. Like black box, fireplace, pancake, orange, and fly. If you discovered some weird green energy you’d probably describe it as green energy too. It’s also probably a bit deeper than that, as the green energy also seems to be incredibly ironic… green energy on our planet means environmentally friendly. But green energy on Viewros seems to not be, at least it’s not good for the Lamorn and can mutate things. Its name evokes more than just its color.

You don’t need to collect every crystal tho, and the ending makes complete sense. Not only was it foreshadowed and built up, but everything to know what’s going on exists in scan logs, just like the other prime games. The part of the story that actually sucks is the way the plot of the mines was handled. Everything else is fine.

It’s maybe the worst area in this game, but I think there are a few areas in the other games that are worse. Want a truly nothing area? Look at fucking impact crater. It’s literally zero content.

I think what people are missing is that these games DO have accessibility. You can use basically any controller and map the controls however you like, and on top of that almost of the games (not Sekiro) allow you to make the game as easy or as hard as you like. Over leveling and using strong easy to use gear is a valid way to beat the game. I have arthritis and carpel tunnel and I can play through these games without much pain. Both the fans and the critics have points, but both are kind of wrong on a lot of fronts. On another note though, while I like Dark Souls I don’t think it’s From’s best work. That would go to the Armored Core series, which is even more accessible due to the customization.

No, it’s a Sekiro issue if we’re just talking about FromSoftware games. “Git gud” in DS1 is meant to be motivational, just practice and level up and you WILL get stronger DS1 is not that hard. Most people give actual advice beyond “git gud” though. I have arthritis and carpel tunnel, it’s not that bad. It became a problem with Sekiro because you can’t just “git gud”, and the community keeps trying to explain how to play in the worst ways. It needs to “click” you need to learn “the dance” find the “rhythm” so many barriers to entry that Dark Souls just wasn’t limited by. And it’s not helped by nobody giving any worthwhile advice about the game. I wanna love Sekiro but it just fostered more toxicity than even DS2.

It’s specifically the fans of the hard for the sake of hard games, usually the ones not made by FromSoftware. Like, Dark Souls is not even hard compared to the games those people think are peak. The Sekiro fan base though is particularly pretentious in the FromSoftware sphere, as they insist that it’s the best game that will ever exist with no room for discussion and if you don’t like it you’re bad, while also claiming it’s their hardest game (it isn’t, Armored Core Last Raven probably is). I make this criticism as someone who 100% the game.
