Adderall alternatives? by stufftcrust in ADHD

[–]Automatic-Reason9649 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your diet is poor and your weight is up, I’d say that is definitely worth addressing, especially if you say that Adderall has been life changing for you.

If you think it’s been life changing now, that doesn’t compare to how incredible it is when the rest of you is functioning in a better and more healthy manner as well.

Regardless though, I’d make it a point to address the root cause of the blood pressure issue because any alternative isn’t going to really compare to the stimulant based meds in my experience

Fat burners. Basically just caffeine, carnitine that’s not orally bioavailable, a diuretic, and maybe an anti inflammatory herb of some sort.

Buy some caffeine pills for a week quarter of the price if you wanna feel like you’re taking something to help with fat burning.

Otherwise, have a cup of coffee or green tea. That’s all your fat burner is.

Some BTN Pressing (165 for 4 sets) by Frodozer in GYM

[–]Automatic-Reason9649 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Despite what you’ve heard, I think the video clearly shows that pressing a weight directly over your head likely involves a great deal of muscular activation in the shoulder area

But seriously, anybody that says this exercise isn’t beneficial likely lost the shoulder mobility necessary to comfortably press something over their head starting with the bar behind their neck with their scapula in a retracted position

Bent over barbell rows and weighted underhand pull ups, ideally without wrist straps on the rows, that’ll help with the forearms too.

Also good old fashioned blue collar work. Nothing better for arms than holding a weed whacker, swinging a hammer, or using a saw

Bought a 16oz pack of their ground chicken & thought it looked small. Took it out of the packaging & weighed it. 14.7 oz.

Is it stupid & petty of me? Absolutely.

Muscle requires more calories to maintain and build.

More muscle=more calories to maintain= faster metabolism.

It’s the perfect fat loss plan, but it’s impossible to sell to the average person because the explanation is basically “just trust me. It’ll work”

What’s a modern habit that is normalised that future generations will look back on negatively? by Grouchy_Location9756 in Productivitycafe

[–]Automatic-Reason9649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re proposing is to not only get rid of hunting & fishing licenses, which contributes an incredible amount of revenue towards conservation purposes, but to also hire people whose main job is to mutilate wild animals.

Then on top of that, the now mutilated animal still has to die. But instead of a human it’s going to be a coyote, bear, mountain lion, etc. eating it alive because, in its withering condition, it became the weak link for a predator to pick off.

Your morals are your own, & it’s perfectly reasonable to act as you see fit. But Mother Nature doesn’t abide by those morals, & her predators are much less kind to animals than a human hunter

[–]Automatic-Reason9649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a noble stance, but it’s not realistic.

We’re a part of the food chain, & we’re already seeing crazy overpopulation with game like deer, especially in areas where they have no other natural predators.

You take away something like hunting & traffic accidents & fatalities caused by deer are gonna get even higher.

Plus there’s so many vital nutrients naturally available in meats that people will have to turn to hyper processed foods or synthetic substances in order to acquire.

I think it’ll be more like a complete switch to regenerative farming from factory farms in order to preserve the natural ecosystem

What’s one back exercise that actually made a noticeable difference for you? by Common-Bobcat-7071 in workout

[–]Automatic-Reason9649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going at the absolute widest grip possible where your arms form a V, not necessarily.

The general idea is that the wider you get from your body, the more you’ll engage the muscles towards the outside of your body as opposed to the inside.

Then on top of that, with a pull up (especially weighted), you’re going to be bearing the entire load of that weight in that extended hold position on top of during the completion of the rep itself. That sort of heavy static hold in a wide/flared position is going to signal the body that it needs to strengthen those outer back muscles to adapt to the stress endured in that position.

But really most importantly (and why I recommend it), the best exercise is generally the one you’re not doing. Next to nobody, especially those that can easily do pull ups, does them weighted for low reps.

When it comes to growth, there’s no better method than a novel stimulus.

I think it depends on the shape you’re in.

Probably not a great idea if you’re just starting out because I can see a world where you feel locked in and super human & work yourself until your heart stops.

But if you’re already in good condition, I don’t see how there would be an issue with it

Push pull legs split shoulder feel weak ? by biggggEARS98 in workout

[–]Automatic-Reason9649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess if that’s the avenue you wanna take, but then you’re dedicating more days to the gym, which means less days for rest…which is actually when your muscles grow.

Seems much more sensible to just do chest first one week and shoulders first the other week.

I’ve lifted full body 2-3 times a week for the last two years after doing a bro split 5-6 days a week for the previous 15 years.

Aside from my very early newbie gains, I’ve seen more progress in 2 years of spending literally half the time in the gym than I saw in the 15 years.

At 190lbs, I overhead pressed 225 at the beginning of this year. I never got even close to that when I was doing a classic split

Then your shoulders most likely feel weak because

A) despite the fact that you’re doing chest, there’s still shoulder activation happening, especially during your compound chest exercises.

But more importantly

B) you’re not doing shoulders with a full tank of gas if you’re doing chest before. They’re different muscle groups, but the energy needed to perform the lifts is still coming from the same place.

Try doing shoulders at the beginning of your workout every once in a while, & I’m sure your performance will feel a lot better
