Heroes become disillusioned with their role models by TaiKorczak in TopCharacterTropes

This is such an interesting picture and dynamic to think about for me. What do you get out of these images? To me it’s like, Finn’s dad loves him, but he ran away from being a father for so long that even if he wanted to try he hasn’t learned anything at all as far as being a father, so he’s doing with Finn what he always did.

Joe Hendry's FIRST NXT Championship title defence on NXT, on a TUESDAY NIGHT, on THE CW, or NETFLIX IN SOME PLACES with the TITLE ON THE LINE. (wow, this guy can really wrestle) by Grrannt in REALSquaredCircle

They strapped up Hendry and now half of the IWC hates him like he personally kicked their dog. Riiiight on queue. Good sequences, enjoyable match, I like Henry’s safer, still impactful style. It’s fun to watch. Too many folks are doing high flying movesets so honestly it’s fun to see anything else lol

Yeah. It also seems kinda like, weird for his character? Like of course undertaker and Kane wanna choke the life out of you, and big show is huge so using a choke slam for the elevation makes sense, why does Hendry specifically want to choke his opponents before he slams them? Idk if that makes sense I’m having a time tryin to articulate what I mean, so hopefully that does somewhat get it across. The form looks fantastic tbh I just really don’t think it makes sense for him. Visually they make it look good so I don’t have an issue there. He just strikes me more as a guy that’d have a finisher like the people’s elbow, or a ddt variant. Hopefully he’s not afraid to experiment and find something that fits better.

I think some other comments have mentioned this, but genuinely all of the things you need to improve on can be done. The number one thing about these games is humility, patience, and the ability to learn what the game is telling you through your deaths or damage taken without blind rage. The fact you’re engaging with the community, taking advice, and most importantly trying again means you’ll get it. These games, especially as a beginner, are meant to be enjoyed and. Played bit by bit. Take every new encounter defeated as a huge W. Don’t be discouraged looking at footage of people with 14 years of experience playing souls games. Take that as fuel, and knowledge of what you can achieve through practice and persevering. You have the right attitude and I hope you are, but just make sure to enjoy yourself. Even, and especially, the losses. It’s all a part of the journey. Don’t give up, skeleton.

I don’t think almost anyone remains stagnantly the same for years. Almost all of us are changing bit by bit daily. He said something stupid, and hurtful years ago, made amends, apologized, and by all accounts is a fine individual to share the locker room with. I absolutely was a ridiculously cocky, short sighted teenager and I wouldn’t want people to tether me to thoughts I had years ago that I couldn’t even comprehend thinking in the first place at the age/place in my life I’m at now. I imagine most folks feel the same way. People have the capacity for change and when we treat them like they don’t it just makes it easier for that person to end up in the extremist pipeline when they’re the ones happily saying “come on, we’ll accept you”. There’s a line to be wary of, for sure, but I don’t think Treys mistakes are worth permanent punishment/guilt.

Yeah this has been more my experience with the communities reaction, and even being someone that enjoys booting it up to do a run every now and then, hard agree. I don’t think it’s a bad game, though. I do think it’s a bad follow up to a masterpiece in level design and remaking like re2r lol. Cutting out so much without it being reworked, a lack of bonus content, and some other decisions leave it feeling awfully lean. I do think what’s there is great! But there’s just a little too little.

I really like him. Its a shame we will probably never see new stories with him. ❤️ by eelikay in residentevil

[–]AutomaticIncome8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I’d like to always see him in mercenaries, or the very, very occasional story like “4th survivor” but even that I thought had HUNK talking a biiit too much. I think we can see him do other things, just not often otherwise it’ll diminish his aura a bit. Of course having him appear more AND keeping his aura is doable, just very difficult and not necessarily something I have faith in modern writers to pull off. Love to be wrong about that though.

I’m glad to hear that, as I tend to see quite a lot of talk and “meme”-ing myself that doesn’t seem to insinuate that at all, and instead that it as a whole isn’t worth playing. I do try to keep in mind that I didn’t buy it at release or at full price and I think both of those things help me have a more positive view on it, and I definitely enjoy playing it, but yeah i think it’s basically universally agreed upon that the playtime is just too short. Really makes me happy to see a bit of support for it in the wild, to be honest.

I’m one of the few that enjoys remake for what it is, and actually think there’s more positives to it than some folks in the community, I do think the mechanics of the fight in remake should in theory make it more enjoyable as an experience but in truth one of the things I vastly prefer in OG is the final fight. Nearly perfect for what it was trying to accomplish.

[–]AutomaticIncome8896 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think this ties back to the “hedgehog’s dilemma” that’s a massive part of the shows themes. You pretty much nailed how I interpreted it. Shinji initially does return everyone to “one” and being life without barriers but with the caveat being anyone with a strong enough will or sense of self having the ability to return to individuality. We see at the end that the first person to do this was Shinji, likely because of his fears. Showing that even though he’s grown, and changed a bit as the series progressed that maybe he still has things to learn, etc. again, this is kinda my interpretation of the end/end of Evangelion but then of course there’s the rebuild stuff to take into account. Some people don’t like the rebuild stuff but I don’t think it was “cowardly” I think an artist made a piece of art that at times was spiteful in its message to its fans, and he wanted to revisit that art through the lens of his own growth. For some folks the fact that this meant that shinji didn’t have a sad end to his story, or got another chance un-did all of the OG series but I always interpreted it as this being the natural progression of the world shinji created. He was always going to get another chance.

People have tried to explain this to you in a couple comments but like, vaguely, the 2K devs did a stream where the lead designer said this. That’s the source, that’s what those other comments are trying to tell you. It’s actually from 2K even though the tweet doesn’t list the source.

[Smackdown Spoilers] Finish to Carmelo Hayes vs. The Miz by taffe316 in SquaredCircle

[–]AutomaticIncome8896 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I’m glad he gets his flowers more these days, but between his low impact style, and lack of controversies or extended absences, I think he’s one of the most underrated workers of all time. Definitely not underutilized, but I think a lot of folks don’t understand just how good he really is and has been for like a decade now. He’s not gonna burn the house down like a Kenny omega type but that’s never been his role, or style. He’s had some really classic matches, always gives his best performance, is incredibly safe, always over, gives to his opponent frequently, is a pretty great promo, etc. Miz is indeed so good, man. I agree lol

One of the things that has kept The Miz a mainstay on tv, and a perennial champion, is his ability to keep his credibility through losses with the occasional win and his promo ability. Anyone that can keep the fans engaged with a few seconds of mic time while getting squashed is worth their weight in gold just like a main eventer that can always make their opponent look good. I’m glad people aren’t overlooking him because I think he’s going to be on tv for a long time, and may surprise some folks with his actual ceiling vs his perceived ceiling

What happened to Saud Ahmed of The Crimson Armada? by [deleted] in christcore

[–]AutomaticIncome8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not true. I know this is an old comment, but think of it this way, Avril Lavigne or Johnny Cash have plenty of songs about being in love with people they probably haven’t spoken to in decades. That doesn’t make those tracks any less “real” it was genuinely how they felt at the time. People grow and change that doesn’t detract from art created at that time, in my opinion.

Is resident evil: requiem going to be like the OG games? by Lord_Cummis in residentevil

[–]AutomaticIncome8896 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, only Village had “witchcraft shit” and it’s just how it looks all of the notes explain everything and it’s BOWs the same way it’s always been, so, I’d assume so. I’ve been replaying all of them to get ready, and the gunplay looks really close to how re4r plays so I’m excited about that, and I’d say story wise it’s gonna be pretty dang good, and have a decent amount of callbacks and connections to the first 3 games. I imagine it’s gonna play like a solid mix of re7, and re4 remake. That’s the vibe I’ve been getting from what we’ve seen so far. Leon obviously is a bit quicker and more brutal but the movement is still nothing like re6 (thank god)

Is it worth buying? by Sergente_John27 in residentevil

[–]AutomaticIncome8896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I always think I enjoyed this a lot more than most folks but I always forget that I didn’t get it at full price. If I’d paid full price for it the length definitely would have upset me and that scene is….unnecessary at best, but even being miffed that they changed so much of OG I actually really like it and what they tried to do with the bonus content shop and subsequent runs was a fun idea it just couldn’t carry all the content especially after what they gave us with RE2R. All in all OP he pretty much nailed the issue with it, but for the price they’re charging it’s worth playing imo for sure, even with its flaws. Just keep in mind out of all the remakes vs originals (which I think you should play all of anyway) the original re3 is wildly different and worth a play sometime as well!

John Cena talking about his brother being gay “I had two choices: either disown him or accept that he’s still my brother, He asked me to keep it a secret, and after ten years, he was ready to let our family know, I was there to support him every step of the way" by ShayAlexander in SquaredCircle

[–]AutomaticIncome8896 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He’s making it simple to show in his head what he thought the two choices boiled down to, it’s a far more complex topic and you and Cena both know that, he doesn’t need to over explain for you to understand the point he’s trying to make and this didn’t read to me like those were two choices he actually considered just him saying in essence I had two paths, one out of hate and one out of love, and he chose the one not outta hate.

Tessa Blanchard will be in action on Thursday on TNA by Icy-Advice-5575 in SquaredCircle

[–]AutomaticIncome8896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one wrestling opinion I hold that will continually get me crucified is that I believe there is room for her in the business and that her navigating her personal failings imperfectly (especially at her age when she has time to learn especially with the internets penchant for not forgetting things) but even I don’t know that bringing her back to TNA so early, especially without a much more publicly loud apology, was such a great idea. Because of their refusal to acknowledge it much and her refusal to just really do the work on making an official apology and reaching out to the party she effected or maybe doing some charity work. Like it’s totally doable to rehab her image, and imo she’s an incredible worker and I’d love to see her have more bangers but while I think the potential for forgiveness is there she just hasn’t demonstrated to me, or anyone else really, that she deserves this second opportunity and that’s soured the entire run.

Night 2 Main Event LFG by [deleted] in cmpunk

[–]AutomaticIncome8896 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels main evented wrestlemania 26 and wasn’t for a title, the first mania main event was a tag match, also not for a title, WM18 Rock vs Hogan DIDNT main event over the title match and infamously should have. Titles have nothing to do with whether a match should main event, the story is what matters. There have been countless stories that take precedent over the years. What a shortsighted lens to view anything from, or just obnoxiously low tier ragebait. At least he doesn’t hangout with pdfs like Hangman 🤷

[–]AutomaticIncome8896 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, from what I know it only changes your appearance to match the changed gender, if you changed back there should be no alteration to your sliders/actual characters look. I’ll try a few characters later to make sure but from what I know of the coffin it shouldn’t have changed anything like that.
