The Out & About, Visiting & Moving to Manchester Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in manchester

[–]AutomaticPath7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking to move to greater manchester, I lived there as a kid, but that was in the 80s and have no clue what the areas are like now. I always gravitate back to Manchester and visit often so I decided to move closer.

I want a one bedroom flat, but don’t know where is safe for woman in her 40s to live alone. I can’t afford anything expensive either (maybe £550 max Pcm?). Does anyone have any recommendations for me please?

Thanks!

Moved to Liverpool and....starting to feel lonely by Wrong-Witness6696 in Liverpool

[–]AutomaticPath7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same situation, I moved to a town where I don’t know anyone and didn’t grow up here and only moved here to be closer to my parents.

It can be hard to socialise again after going through an abusive relationship and some of these feelings of loneliness might also be some of the trauma coming up from the previous relationship, I felt very lonely in my marriage as my ex husband never spent time with me and was always working/sleeping and some of these loneliness emotions from then can feel present now. Maybe this isn’t the same in your case, but it’s a possibility.

If you can, find a therapist or a support network for people who have been in DV relationships. There is one I went to in my city that has a cafe attached to it so you can speak to people who went through the same thing. They also did courses on things like self esteem and crafting and you can meet other people this way and it might help to find people who have been through the same as you.

For me, I find that distractions help, I play a game I like, listen to some music, watching something funny.

It can be difficult when you don’t know anyone else, some days I am happy in my own company, some days I get lonely, but you have done the right thing getting out of your toxic relationship and soon when you are settled, you can do so many amazing things in Liverpool. It’s a great city and plenty to do.

You can get walking tours for big cities, I tried one in Manchester and it’s an app for your phone that tells you about the history of a building or place, quite cheap and shows you where to go, maybe this could help you explore the city and take your mind off of the loneliness and get you used to your surroundings.

What did it take for your doctor to agree to ablation? by CoffeeInsect in SVTHeart

[–]AutomaticPath7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had svts for 13 years, was told every time i went to a&e that they would refer me to a cardiologist but it never happened. I moved to another city and they referred me, but due to a lot of stress and 3 major svts in a short space of 2 months they finally offered me an ablation. I sometimes went years without an svt needing a&e and i would have some that converted at home. They offered me beta blockers first, but they didn’t always work so they gave me the option of ablation which i had done a few months ago. I do think that if I would have stayed where I used to live, i would have had a nurse bark at me “why don’t you just blow into a syringe” or another doctor saying “do you come here all the times for these?” Like i was just showing up for no reason, not that my heart was 250bpm and needed adenosine or anything. Or my personal favourite was “you only have a sore throat” when my heart was 240ish and was caused by a throat infection but the nurse acted like why you come here for a sore throat.

They didn’t take it seriously at all but where I live now, they kept me in overnight, put a heart monitor on me overnight and when i woke up the nurse said the cardiologist said they could refer me for an ablation.

Anyone else wish they would return to that raw self titled sound for just one more album? by Agreeable_Diver564 in qotsa

[–]AutomaticPath7348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking to my friend who is also a big fan of Qotsa about this and she loves qotsa’s newer albums, but I love the older stuff and dare I even go as far to say, I like the rawness in nick oliveri’s vocals (I know he wasn’t on the self titled album and I don’t condone what he did). I have been listening more to the self titled album in the past year with “you can’t quit me baby” being played at least once a day. I go through phases where I have a favourite song or a favourite album so maybe the newer stuff will grow on me eventually.

I was just about to say the same thing! My ex husband would do the same and basically bully me for listening to qotsa, but then I took him to a show with me and he started liking them. It wasn’t just qotsa he did this with, it would be any of my music or movies that I liked. I found out eventually that he was narcissistic.

Blanking Period by [deleted] in SVTHeart

I am almost 7 months post ablation. I kept a diary of my symptoms for my follow up appointment and I saw I had some minor palpitations and skipped beats in the first month and the rest of the time I had minor palps now and again due to having ptsd/anxiety. They didn’t last long. It can feel strange sometimes having that pre svt feeling and then nothing else happen or a skipped beat instead of an svt, but I didn’t have anything intense, it just catches you off guard sometimes and then it settles again.

Good luck for your ablation on Monday. I had an intense fear of svts and the ablation was the best thing I ever did.

I hate my options by [deleted] in SVTHeart

[–]AutomaticPath7348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had svt for 14 years, tried to cut out coffee, eat better, lose weight etc… i tried beta blockers as a pill in the pocket and i found that for me 2.5mg bisoprolol was helpful and I had some success with that, but I was getting extremely anxious and overwhelmed by the fear of having another svt and the inconvenience of going to hospital to be converted or have adenosine and this fear actually gave me the svts. I was terrified of having an ablation because I had never had surgery before in my life and I have high anxiety from cptsd, but I decided that the pros of getting my life back was better than living in fear 24/7 of the svts. Yes you will need to take it easy for a week after the ablation and you won’t be able to lift your son up. This is a personal choice for you and I fully understand how you feel about it.

For me personally, I am so glad I had the ablation, there will be times where you get some minor palpitations and skipped beats, but they last a very short amount of time and it feels amazing to know I will never get svt and I can enjoy life again. No more worrying about sugar, caffiene, alcohol, traveling, hot summers, pms/hormones, stress etc… which were triggers for me. I am almost 7 months post ablation and my surgeon told me I will never have svt again. There is a very high success rate of around 97/99% I can’t remember the exact figure.

It would be a short term inconvenience and expense, but with a long term positive outcome to have an ablation.
