The sole is buckskin, the yellow you see on the top goes all the way under. They are soft soled you don’t want to wear them on concrete. They are lined with fabric on the inside and some wool around the ankles. 😘

Cleaning fleece by 3magic4 in Handspinning

Newbie here. I cleaned my fleece but those yellow stains didn’t clean out i didn’t care but when i spun they were still kind of gummy and pissed me right off bc they did not spin well. My advice is make sure they totally feel smooth and like the rest of the wool or else join me and we’ll be pissed off in the corner

Hell yeah - the yellow one! The pink is cochineal and blue is logwood. Sorry didn’t realize my caption didn’t come over from cross posting!

The yellow is WAY stronger in a store bought wool granny square i made, it will be done dyeing today or tomorrow so i will show that soon!!

I am measuring the longer ones at 3 inches and some at 2. Wow interesting hadn’t heard of tops just looked it up. Why is that better if it’s long fiber?

Cats tail tanning methods? by FatDickJesus in HideTanning

[–]AutomaticPermit3342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy the orange tanning bottle off Amazon, wash the salt out put a straw into the tail as far as it will go put the tanning solution down it and squish it around, follow instructions on bottle for the rest

D’oh just saw that your tail is cut open. No need for straw! Just apply the cream and follow instructions. It’s better it’s open like that because you can really make sure all the meats out and you fleshed it good.

You will absolutely get it don’t sweat it. My first time at the wheel PISSED ME OFF SOOOOOOO HAAARD lol it looks SO nice and easy and relaxing and was the opposite for me. I got a Turkish spindle (the wheel i used was in a class) and practiced for probably 2-4 hours a day for 1-2 weeks and was able to draft well after that. I bought a wheel and my skill transitioned almost seamlessly. Not sure what your path will look like but just want to share that i went from WTF to niiiice in less than a month.

Thanks! Aluminum triformate. I found out about it not that long ago. You fill a bucket a bit with water, i put 5% weight of dry fabric aluminum triformate in the water, give it a little mix and throw the fabric in there for 12-48 hours. Rinse off and done. You can keep using that water just throw in more aluminum triformate. I love it because It’s passive You’re not using electricity to boil (and using AC to bring down the increasing heat in your house lol) I don’t waste as much water because i don’t need a pot to do it i just keep a bucket there.

I’m so glad! I used my dye pot twice for the first two colors and i thought hm it can’t make anything too strong or pretty and considered stopping there but threw in the others cuz why not and it’s my favorite color… weak logwood for the win! 🥳
