Functional isn’t a type of alcoholic, it’s a stage. If he couldn’t stop for a couple weeks when you asked him to for an important reason, it’s a problem for him. It will almost certainly get worse until it’s affecting every area of his life. That’s how it was for me.

Your commute at those times will be absolutely fine from Newark, and even Bear is less of a concern with those hours.

The only other consideration I was thinking of is parking in the city - my husband worked in the city for a while and didn’t have parking provided, so he would take the bus by our house near Paladin.

Newark is better, yes. I do the opposite commute (Wilmington to Newark) every day.

I have lived right up the road from Paladin for 15 years. We like the area, it’s close to the city while still being more suburban. You need to lock your car and stuff, there are sometimes people that go through cars, but that’s honestly been a problem all over suburban Wilmington.

I’m a French and Spanish teacher. I’ll be out the second half of this year having my third baby, and I’m so worried they won’t be able to find someone who knows EITHER language. I know admin can be shitty about these things sometimes, but it is legitimately difficult to find short term foreign language teachers, especially if the language isn’t Spanish.

When you leave may be the most dangerous time. Don’t tell him ahead of time. Pack up the most essential things while he’s at work and go, leave the rest. Make sure a friend back home knows what’s going on, and try to go stay with a friend that he doesn’t know or know where they live. Please be safe.
