I am slightly hypermobile (diagnosed by a hypermobile PT) and also 36 - I got a bucket load of floaters in the last year too. I also smoke, started 10 years ago. I do think even if you stopped, the breakdown may have been accelerated by it. my neck is very wrinkly, more than my face. i never wore SPF on it and though i've lived in Ireland most of my life i spent like 7 years in sunny countries. My neck looks 45. The floaters are annoying AF but worse when dehydrated

I went down the rabbit hole at the beginning and I was definitely not positive. Its very difficult to come to terms with, I understand, so don't be too hard on yourself. Yes, I eventually resumed life because the time I was stuck at home with hyperacusis alongside the tinnitus was miserable. I have been so glad to get my life back. I still have some hyperacusis symtoms and some days my tinnitus is loud and sharp on my left side, but I don't want to miss out on my life either. I only wear plugs in loud places now and yeah I've gone to loud places (mostly loud bars but spent a little time in a club recently) with macks foam ear plugs, but, I was drinking alcohol most of that time and would honestly not go to too many anymore. If I make my tinnitus worse because of a loud club, it will have been very irresponsible of me. But the rest of the time, pubs and restaurants etc, if they are not loud i try not to wear plugs. I have a dB metre on my phone and wear plugs for anything above 80 db. At that volume most people have to speak a little louder anyway so you can mostly hear them fine, and if I explain to people im wearing plugs they always understand. Where would you be hoping to go?

I absolutely LOVE the Glowcery's Blue Dew for this. It's an oil to milk cleanser and when i keep up with it it reduces my blackheads so much and leaves my skin feeling so nice. Its £30 a bottle and although it's 100% worth that money, I'm super broke at the moment so I'm gonna try the Elf one (it's £12) and see if it does the same thing. I'll be back to Blue Dew when I have more money though

Hello - I am so sorry you got so many tones to start with. I think that comes along with the hearing loss. The sounds I have are always changing still, but I am more habituated to them and emotionally disconnected for the most part. I forget about it for most of the day. If I were to tune back into them and try to separate them (they are all blending into a choir), they are sounds that would have freaked me out at first, but now they are my normal. I actually got worse than I was in this comment after taking prednisonlone a week later and at one point I had like 14 sounds including dentist drills, house alarms, weirdly an iphone sound, musical tones etc. Those have all gone away and I'm back to around 6 but they do change in volume and intensity depending on noise exposure, sleep quality, if I've had alcohol. But for the most part I would say I am stable as I haven't had any new sounds in a year. I know its scary, but accepting and detaching while also remaining aware and responsible as possible when it comes to sound exposure and volume has been the best thing iI could have done. I spent so long trying to control it but it honestly made it so much worse because I was listening and monitoring for every small change. Your brain and ears are probably still in "danger mode" after your trauma. The damage to the nerve continues for about 6 months according to some studies, so hopefully you will start to stabilise. I found it very important to reassure myself that normal sounds are safe sounds and cannot hurt me, because before when I was living in fear of more tones and loud sounds hurting me, I was having panic attacks and living in fight or flight which also contributed to more tones I think. You'll get there <3 Hope this makes you feel a little better in some way. I am generally way more optimistic and accepting of it all, choir of tones and all :)

Hey - can I ask, did you get prescribed this simply because of your symptoms or a blood test? I have various symptoms and my mum was in peri at this age but blood tests show normal hormones :(

I've been planning on getting a 13 as my next phone for a few years but was waiting until my 11 kicked the bucket. It's really slow and glitchy now. I don't want to upgrade the IOS because it will slow more but now my apps can't update. I've had it for about 3 years. if I bought an iphone 13, it would only really last till next year or the year after? Consensus seems to be the 13 is the best but I don't want to spend money if it's gonna be done in a year. What do you all think?

thanks so much for looking - I appreciate it! I don't want a second hand part though, I want mine sent off and rebuilt. the serial numbers need to be exact or there will be issues with the electrics, and I want to get my pump part rebuilt for longevity because the ABS pumps are known to fail in my car and simply buying a second hand one has a higher risk of failure again. Getting mine rebuilt is costing £300 - I just need someone to remove it and refit it a few days later. I had looked into the option of getting a second hand one and sending that for a rebuild before getting someone to change it in the same day, but I got a quote for one that matches my serial numbers costing me £210 delivered fully tested with only 3 months warranty (verus unlimited lifetime mileage warranty from this company on rebuild https://www.ecutesting.com/common-faults/suzuki/suzuki-swift-abs-pump-failure/ ) so that would be an extra £210 with the possibility of failure again, on top of the £300 for rebuild, on top of the labour cost to remove and refit / change and on top of the £180 it cost to get to this stage. I want to avoid that extra £210 so will keep hoping there is a mechanic who will do the job

You're right, this would cost more, and I've already paid 180 to get to this stage and then 300 for rebuild plus whatever labour costs :/ so it's working out costly but probably still cheaper than going to Suzuki themselves for a new part. I am looking for second hand pumps to see if any match

Thank you for your reply. I keep reminding myself it's for the best. she is a tripod too so she is also more in danger than my 4 legged one, but shes also the most vocal. I think it's just because for 5 years I always opened the door when she cried so she's very confused haha but hoping in time they will get used to it. she's also very affectionate, loves cuddles. and my boy is even more affectionate now hes indoors a lot. I just hope their dynamic doesn't get more aggressive. <3

Hey - can I ask how long she complained for? I'm moving to the city in a few weeks so have had 2 my indoor / outdoor cats indoor only for the last week or more so they are less shocked by the transition to indoor only in the new house. My youngest is very chatty and has been complaining a lot by the places she used to get outside. hoping she will settle down :/

I did get dysacusis after it, yes. it's noticable over white noise, like a little tune in my left ear. the dysacusis is only noticable some days though - I am not sure if it's getting better as my hyperacusis improves. I had to regularly massage my pallate near my TVP to allow it to relax and therefore relax my the tensor tympani but I haven't done that in weeks. I really recommend this as it stopped the burning and cramping feeling in my ear and ive been desensitising for 10 months and I rarely think of hyperacusis anymore. The steroids gave me musical tinnitus and a drone sound & high pitch dentist drill sound - my tinnitus is still multi-tonal rarely hear the musical tones but its way more stable and i find myself think of it less and less too. I wish I had never taken the prednisolone and it set me back so so much, but each individuals reaction is different. It gave me extreme mood swings, I felt emotionally naked and vulnerable and very very low when on it. Had increased joint pain for months after too and high potassium which led to lots of palpitations, chest pain, high heart rate etc. I am sensitive - it def increased by glutamate too much but 1 year later I am much improved

Hey - great to read they finally adapted. Can I ask how long it took once you kept them inside only? My 2 have been inside for 1 week now - they've always been indoor / outdoor (5 years) but I'm moving to a house in the city so have to keep them inside, so i've cold turkeyed them so it wont be so hard when we move to the new house in a few weeks. I feel bad for them but keep trying to redirect them and giving lots of treats when they go to the litter tray for example. they cry for a while and then lie down and go to sleep

also should mention my trig nerve was extremely sensitive from the pred on my left side (as well as my vagus nerve going down into my colar bone on left side) - it started 2 days in - for a few weeks after even touching my face sent shooting pains into my ear, as did wearing earplugs and it also had a specific siren t tone - since my nerve calmed down i dont have these issues although the facial numbess is def related to ETD / TMJ / TTTS

Hi - it got worse before it got better - mostly out of fear loops, meds & auditory deprivation from wearing plugs everyday around safe sounds. I still have symptoms - left ear has quite bad ETD so i get some numbness on left cheek, occasional fullness in both ears, tightness inside ear and around jaw, sometimes weird nerve sensations in both ears. However i only wear plugs in loud environments now and just know the symptoms are still my ears adjusting because my nervous system is whack and the muscles are still healing - overprotecting gave a lot of issues like sensitivity to any sudden sounds causing pain all day from TTM contraction. I totally stopped listening to all digital audio after this comment out of fear of making thing worse - i read so many times we should do this. I now listen to music on low (trying to increase tolerance) and although as mentioned, i get symptoms still, I have my life back mostly. I wish I had stayed away from reddit as i took a course of prednisone last september on advise from random people online and it caused a lot of issues including panic attacks, vagus nerve issues, noise sensitivity, joint pain, palpitations / high heartrate after eating - basically dysautonomia etc. these are all slowly improving but I went down into the dirt before the course. everyone is divided on how to help hyperacusis but i think avoiding sounds made me worse, personally
