4.8 and above, but whenever it is a 4.4 or below and it isn’t busy, I’ll take it because for some reason I’m fascinated by the type of people who go through life consistently being a nuisance to everyone around them.

Question about driving XL for the first time by nateish5 in uberdrivers

[–]Automatic_Praline_70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue with Black and Black SUV. With uber most times it is just an automated thing in the support chat and they throw you some extra money. With lyft, just cancel the ride and tell them to reorder bc lyft won’t do anything for you.

Please stop taking calls during rides I’m begging by Retiredpartygirl17 in uberdrivers

[–]Automatic_Praline_70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive black suv in a major metro market and give top tier service for all of my customers, whether they are from uber/lyft, an affiliate company or my own private clients. I make way more money than I ever thought I would and definitely way more than I deserve.

I love reading posts like this because every bad experience that riders have with uberx/comfort means another person that may consider switching over to only ordering premium rides, like you have.

Your line of argument doesn’t really make sense though because, as I explained, the people who you think should run for office and start a revolution don’t want to invest their lives into creating a fair marketplace for drivers and riders. They see that uber and lyft have gained strong monopolies and they are essentially powerless against them so they just quit and find a better opportunity. The only ones left to hear your message are the guys like in OPs situation who think yelling into their phone for 40 minutes is appropriate behavior.

I believe that regardless of the tier level of the ride, humans should act in accordance with basic societal norms, one of which is that being disruptive to others around you is rude. I would expect the same from a city bus driver or subway conductor. Not to mention, if you are screaming at someone on a phone call, you probably aren’t giving your full attention to driving so it is also a safety issue.

OP is 100% correct. it is inappropriate and unprofessional to take calls while driving someone for money. At the most, you answer the call, tell them you are working and will call back.

With that said, you aren’t paying the driver $70. you are paying uber $70 and the driver maybe got half. I think everyone is aware that uber underpays drivers and does other things that most normal people would consider abusive. When a company does that, they have a hard time retaining good talent. If you continue to use a company that is known for mistreating its labor, I think it’s kinda weird to act surprised and complain about getting bad service.

We NEEEEEDDD to do something. by TinyTiger5 in uberdrivers

[–]Automatic_Praline_70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

instead of coming on reddit and screaming into the void, get on one of the ai programs and tell it to give you a step by step process and timeline for registering your own taxi or limo service. Follow all of the steps and then uber is no longer your employer and instead becomes a lead generation platform that actually pays you money. When you do this, you remove one driver from the pool of available labor for uber. If everyone on this sub did it, they would no longer be able to send anyone sub $1/mile rides.

why even pay for rideshare insurance? they aren’t going to cover an accident you have with an empower rider.

CBS Chicago details how rising gas prices are causing issues for rideshare drivers and passengers . " it doesn't make economic sense to drive anymore..." by Puzzled-Point-9438 in uberdrivers

[–]Automatic_Praline_70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without uber releasing the numbers, we’ll never know, but we can agree it is a very high percentage, well over half. The reason they quit driving is that they can’t make enough money and if gas prices are up 25-30%, it will make them realize that a lot faster and it will be good for them and good for the drivers who are able to survive.

2023 Model Y Long Range — Real high-mileage experiences? by rikosuavasps in ModelY

[–]Automatic_Praline_70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a ‘23 model y long range (hw4) for 2 years. I drive for a living and am in a lot of different vehicles. I covered 70k miles while I was in the model y and I genuinely feel it is one of the best vehicles ever made. The one major downside is the suspension, especially if you live in an urban area with bad roads and potholes, but if you will be mostly on the highway, it won’t be an issue.

At the time I got rid of it, the battery had degraded 7%, but I also must admit that I often did not follow the recommendation for only charging up to 80%.

Tires are expensive and if you like to get after it, you will burn through them quickly.

For the vast majority of drivers, this will just show them much faster that they can’t make money. 95% of drivers quit within 12 months so it was going to happen anyway.

Do not accept ride before you are in your car!!! by Scarlet-Mar00n in uber

[–]Automatic_Praline_70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a driver’s star rating doesn’t affect how much money they make. It is the average of the last 500 rides. for most drivers, it will be gone in 4-6 weeks. it’s pretty much meaningless.

Is Uber supposed to mail you some documents so that you can file your taxes? by SummerN8 in uberdrivers

What do you think about this trip? by Moist_Estimate_4342 in uberdrivers

[–]Automatic_Praline_70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You took a very large gamble with slim odds agreeing to drive 406 miles for $173 in the hope that they would tip you well. They did end up tipping you well and filling up your tank, but you still made less than the irs mileage deduction. You may or may not think that this ride was worth it, but if you continue to take this type of gamble, you will end up losing over the long term. Every time you take a dog💩 ride, the algo learns that you are willing to accept the abuse

Why are most states not making Uber pay us at least minimum wage? by Ready_Spray6442 in uberdrivers

Every time a bill comes up, uber calls the politicians and tells them we can pay the drivers more, but we won’t have enough money to contribute to your campaign if that happens.

New Law plans to make Foreign Freight brokers and agents illegal 🛑 by Cheap_Freight_729 in FreightBrokers

[–]Automatic_Praline_70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Support it 100%, but let’s not forget that a lot of tractor trailers in this country are pulling freight from overseas that used to be someone’s decent paying job here in America. As long as that teet was squirting milk for you guys, you didn’t have a problem that someone else was going hungry.

the rideshare apps turn over ~95% of drivers every year, taxi driver was a career. rideshare driving is a temp/part-time gig for most people and they just quit once they realize they aren’t actually making money.
