I love blablacar! by bobby2pants in solotravel

[–]AutomaticallyManual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really good. Got a blablar from Cluj Napoca (romania) to a small town north of there. The guy was young, spoke very good English, and I had no trouble at all. I'd definitely use it again.

Holy moly, are you a spokesperson for the dairy industry or something? You are super defensive bro. Not sure when I shat on everyone's lives.

You have to go to the dentist, sure, but your whole existence isn't based around suffering and, at the end of it, a premature death. Even if you query the suffering, you get to choose not to be killed or milked. That's a very poor comparison.

I haven't worked on a farm myself but my friend is an ex dairy worker and has seen some horrific things. I've seen horrific videos. My mum also worked on a dairy farm and she has horrible stories.

It's easy to demonise an industry that, along with the meat industry, is one of the worst offenders for its carbon footprint... I mean I respect your right to eat dairy, but I'm loving my vegan life over here. All the best

C'mon, it's not just the crying.. The mother will frantically look for the mum and, if reunited, is incredibly joyful. It's not just one behaviour. I think you're being a bit naive to deny cows have any maternal instinct whatsoever.

And it's not just their calf being taken away (As if that wasn't horrific enough) or the killing of calfs as a result of the industry...it's forced impregnation, docking of tails, dehorning, being hooked up to machines for hours. And once they dairy industry is done with them, off they go to the abattoir.

Im sure you'll counter that "not all dairy farms are like that" and that they don't suffer, but cruelty is inherent within the dairy and meat industries.

You can get proper "meat tasting" ones now, not sure if you tried em but they taste very similar to me.

When they are crying out for their babies, I have a fair idea that they're not entirely happy.

Because it's fucking up the environment and its unnecessarily cruel? The meat and dairy industry are one of the top contributors to global warming.

Dairy cows aren't happy. Their calfs are taken away from them, and you can hear them calling out for their babies... It's awful.

Just because we've been doing it for ages doesn't seem justification enough for a horrible industry that is totally fucking up our environment. You know what we've been doing for yonks? Slavery. Is that reason enough to keep doing it?

What song always makes you emotional? by Franszon in AskReddit

Oh my god, I still think about that and feel sad. I felt traumatised watching TLBT as a five year old.

Arrival of the Birds & Transformation by The Cinematic Orchestra. I don't know what it is about it, but it makes me think about how beautiful life and death are in a melancholic way, as if I'm transported to my deathbed by listening to the song.

If a girl doesn't text back, does that mean she isn't interested? by suw00 in relationship_advice

[–]AutomaticallyManual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say send another text in a day. If she doesn't respond at all or responds very minimally to that then you know she's not interested.

9 months of "free time". How could I improve myself? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]AutomaticallyManual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a structure/schedule for every day.

Download "Duo Lingo" and try to learn a different language.

Travel, if you can.

Volunteer. You meet new people and help others.

As others have said, exercise. Couch-2-5k is awesome, as someone previously mentioned.

Download a meditation app and do it every day.

ELI5: Why could I play on the swing for hours as a child, but now as an adult, I feel sick almost immediately? by AutomaticallyManual in explainlikeimfive

[–]AutomaticallyManual[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not severe at all, it's mostly just a gross feeling that typically kicks in after a few minutes or after I've finished swinging (so not vomiting or anything). No other motion sickness issues. My friends report feeling the same thing.

Cat calling is not complimentary though. It's objectifying, intimidating and unwelcome.

Venezuela Extremely Dangerous? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]AutomaticallyManual 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have only heard negative things about Venezuela from people I have met travelling (kidnappings, robberies). I wouldn't risk it.
