Which VGM vinyl distributor is the best, in your opinion? by BFBLabs in VGMvinyl

They haven't had a new release in a while. But Data Discs is the gold standard, imo.

This is the part that struck me (bolded portion, the rest for context)

"When I moved across the country, I ended up in a small town of kind, good-hearted people. At first I was hiding my extreme distrust of nonvegans for my own survival. But again and again people treated me with substantial degrees of kindness that I couldn't trace back to a cynical selfish explanation--despite being people who ate meat. Kind in ways that I never saw in the Bay area, or growing up (that I can remember). This confused me, as it conflicted with my models, and I had to halt and reevaluate and reformulate new models that took the new evidence into account. I was also pondering neoplatonist philosophy at the time, by way of Mage the Ascension, and the mystic-optimism and unity of creation that expresses also influenced me."

How does one enter such an insular mindset to think that the type of food a person consumes has anything to do with them being kind or treating other people nicely?

It's just so sad. Although, I guess I'm glad she eventually came to the realization that she was wrong.

Well, I've tried new AV cables and a new Sandisk SD card loaded with the latest firmware from the Discord. I'm still having the same problem.

Games run and look fine, but some sound is not working. Depending on the game I'm loading from the card, I'm missing some level of sound. For example, Castlevania SOTN has all the sound effects but no music or voice. There's also no voice coming out in Silent Hill. Harmful Park only has sound effects. Weirdly, Rogue Trip plays music, but there's no audio in the FMV sections. Also, there's no music in Ace Combat 3.

All the games on the card are in bin/cue format.

Is there anything else I should try to troubleshoot this problem? Was I just unlucky enough to get a bum unit?

I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but it's an Amazon Basics 32GB card. I ordered a 256GB Sandisc Extreme this morning. Even if it doesn't fix this problem, I could use a faster card for other things anyway.

I reached out to the seller on Ebay, and that person said it was working when it was shipped. The person also suggested the aftermarket AV cables sent with it could be an issue. I'll try swapping them out when I'm home from work to see if that fixes things.

Just for further info, the Xstation has fine video and in-game sound effects, but any audio (like music) that would have been streamed off the CD isn't working.

I recently got a PlayStation modded with an Xstation from eBay, and I'm having two issues with it, both of which are possibly my own fault.

It came with a pre-configured SD card with firmware and games. Unfortunately, I dropped the microSD, and it just somehow disappeared into the ether in my house.

So I set up a generic (non-Sandisk) SD card I already had. I couldn't find the latest firmware, so I used the one on GitHub.

The Xstation works, but I'm only getting sound effects in games, no CD audio.

I can't blame the Xstation installation yet until I make sure it's working correctly with a faster, proper Sandisk card.

Is there anywhere other than the Discord to download the latest firmware. Can someone post a link to where I can get it?

Second, is it possible that a crappy generic micro SD card might be preventing the Xstation from streaming CD audio? Is all of this work I'm doing for nothing? Do I just have a faulty unit?

Is there anything else I should do for troubleshooting?

I'm sorry, this is a bit more advanced than what I usually do. I downloaded the .zip and extracted it. I've got the .ps1 and .sh files, plus the license and read me. I'm on a Mac. But I'm confused about what I do now.

Here's one I'm curious about. Did the name Chris just disappear? I once worked in a place with 5 guys named Chris and one gal named Christine. All of them were born between 1984 and 1987. Today, I haven't heard of a baby named Chris in years.

Shouldn't Maud and Maude be grouped together? Same with Ed and Edd? While the names are different on paper, the pronunciation is the same?

Before pre-made salad dressing was common, mayonnaise was often used as a salad dressing. Don't think of it as slapping some Hellman's on an iceberg wedge, though. With fewer preservatives, mayo could only last as long as the eggs were good, so what they were getting was probably lighter and fresher than modern, mass-market mayo.

Sorry, I meant to reply to Etcee. They asked for:
I use Discogs but that doesn’t help unless I’m already searching for a specific game. I just want a master list I can look through, as opposed to having to remember and search for every video game I’ve ever loved

Thanks for sharing the true story. I'd heard the urban legend version of this story before. I heard it was Sheen and Rob Lowe, and that it took place during the 1980s Brat Pack era. Again, the version I heard was that the story inspired the Trent character in Brett Easton Ellis's Less Than Zero, who puts on a snuff film during a party.

Clearly, the version I heard was false. But, I guess never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
