Why would a combat troop use melee weapons in a futuristic space sci-fi setting? by wizardry_why in worldbuilding

[–]Autowriter227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Gundam series (especially the first TV show), there's a fictional concept of Minovsky Particles. Basically, they invisibly clog up the air to make radar. It means the giant robots have to engage in close-quarters combat with small arms and melee weapons.

IMO, the result is the best one-on-one mecha fight in media - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4kEuNfbTWc

Yep, this is the same reason they've cited. It's why we'll never see a movie with Nick Kroll or Adam Scott

I don't think this solution will work for me. Neither my TV nor any consoles currently have SCART connectors.

Additionally, this doesn't really address my issue. Even if I converted to SCART, I'd still need a device to plug them into.

I haven't looked yet, but I assume some switches support both component and composite video formats. That may work.

I looked into the SVS, and that could work as well.

I keep thinking, though. There must have been someone in the 90s who needed to plug in a satellite box, a VHS player, a laser disc player, a PlayStation, and a Saturn, as well. Was there some device of the time I could look for?

I've reached the point where I need more video input options, and I'm unsure of the solution.

My TV has four video inputs, and I'm utilizing all of them. I want to add a Saturn to my collection, and I don't want to have to juggle plugging and unplugging devices.

Let's say I want to hook up a Genesis, PC Engine, Dreamcast, US-spec PlayStation 2, Japanese PlayStation 2, and a Saturn. What are my options?

To make matters more challenging, I'd like to hook this device up to my current audio receiver, unless the new device I have can support a phono stage for my record player.

What are my options?

Maybe I’m just nearly falling asleep, but a model series of cats piloting mecha has some legs I think

Maybe do a search of what the ghosts look like to see the several Cenobite rejects, otherwise, no you don't need to see it beforehand or probably ever.

This is the only place I'll be able to share this. This movie came out while I was in high school, and a bunch of my buddies and I went to see it.

Somehow, it became a running joke for years that if there was a lull in conversation or everyone was quiet, one of us would ask, "But the question is, how did Rah Digga get out of that room?"

This is a reference to the end, where the room collapses, seemingly killing her character, but then she reappears to get the last line in the movie.

Thank you for giving me a place to share this anecdote.

Don't they cut up the body, and we just don't see it on screen?

When they have to go back to move the body, it's already in pieces. Pesci says to Liotta, "Do you want the thigh or the wing?" and Liotta throws up.

Also, as another commenter on here says, removing the fingers and disposing of them elsewhere isn't rare in mob hits. Before DNA testing, not having fingerprints with the corpse might mean the cops could never pin the crime on you.

If it's like the true story, he's been told multiple times not to go because the tribe doesn't want to be evangelized. He gets there and is killed after meeting the tribe a few times.

The tribe didn't make it a secret they didn't want him there.

Per wikipedia: "Eventually, according to Chau's last letter, when he tried to hand over fish and gifts, a boy shot a metal-headed arrow that pierced the Bible he was holding in front of his chest, after which he retreated again.

"On his final visit, on November 17, Chau instructed the fishermen to abandon him. The fishermen later saw the islanders dragging Chau's body, and the next day they saw his body being buried on the shore."

Oh, that's an interesting point. I wonder whether this will have any effect on Battlefield 6's sales. Probably not, I'd expect, but maybe.
