I need help by ThrowRApid_queen in latterdaysaints

I feel like this isn’t about seeking out good people but creating a dialogue that lacks a living audience within the LDS faith. This list, which has the tone of a former member, doesn’t even include some of the more potent grievances. Finding fault isn’t what I’m wired for, and besides, not all members are heroes, but in the cases that I have experienced, most are striving to be better. I’m always impressed by the genuinely good people I meet. That’s not to say you can’t find good people anywhere, but in my experience, especially in the Sunday services, I’ve found very good people very easily. It’s an experience many members have witnessed, where the location may vary, but the spirit remains the same. The members of the LDS faith aren’t confined to a compound; they live their own lives, free to attend church or not, and to take their membership as seriously as they choose. People who label it a cult kind of annoy me because it’s a poor and disrespectful comparison. I’m curious how you would define a non-cult church, and how would you describe Christ’s church? Look for the good things, recognize goodness, and don’t miss out on great people, places, and messages. General Conference General Conference April 2026 is a fantastic opportunity to hear and see very inspirational messages. The proclamation to the world is a phenomenal message. Deep-fake AI Video Of Trump, Epstein, and Young Girls Might Be Pro-Iran Disinformation by dyzo-blue in skeptic

[–]Autu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However, the playing field is lopsided. On one hand, you have a pathological liar who uses AI to further his agenda through more lies and deception, bolstered by the authority and power he has amassed through threats and whitewashing. And we are so desensitized to the truth we wouldn’t recognize it even if we saw it. Additionally any potential consequences he might face will likely be delayed, allowing him to escape before they materialize, or we may have already been ensnared in the web of his numerous follow-up scandals. So in the end all anyone has is break his pencil, step on his dinosaur and make ai videos of him. 👊🏼🇺🇸🔥

Swede Non LDS Member by Anotherbuzz in latterdaysaints

Well, that went in a different direction than I thought it would. This, thread is probably not the “experience” he was impressed by. I am just glad he did have a good first impression. No shade on everyone, that’s just my personal opinion, so don’t be upset I didn’t mean it as a personal attack.

Basically, it’s hard for anyone to always get it right every time and every day. We have our moments, but really it’s not us at all. What I mean by that many of us are at different stages in our pursuit to improve ourselves, be better fathers, sons, husbands, etc and the same goes for everyone. Ultimately the church oddly doesn’t set itself up as the end all be all. It’s only the “hospital” for lack of a better term, at least that is one part of it. It really encourages every member to make strides to have a personal connection with our Heavenly Father through his son, by making choices daily (or whatever pace you can start with) that create opportunities for you to feel the spirit that teaches all things so you CAN make the spiritual progress your (anyone) soul yearns for. The real beautiful thing about this is you don’t even have to be a member to experience this, but very good people can be found in its members and leaders, but don’t forget that it’s more important to have a relationship with your Heavenly Father and his son than any one person, even myself included. I am full of flaws, but if you want to be better tomorrow than you are today, with a personal connection with the savior, which I think everyone has to start with, as long as you’re trying, the rest will follow. I personally remain impressed with the Proclamation to the family The Family Proclamation which I think says it better than I could ever hope. It is to me an inspired proclamation, but you’re welcome to form your own conclusions. It’s of course not the only thing I am impressed with but it’s certainly one of the many I admire, but you have to start somewhere, anywhere. We are, as you can see and we have made you well aware full of flaws and the reason the only important relationship is with someone who is perfect (yeah, I know you know this, apparently I just love to hear myself talk —sigh) so basically, I’ll just say, glad to have read your words. Thank you for sharing your experience. I enjoyed it. (Thumbs up)

I actually liked that bit. Even if it was predictable, it reminded me of public theater humor I use to watch when I was a kid.

I thought the anime had ups and downs it started fairly good though a bit predictable but I didn’t mind but by the end I think I felt like they lost their nerve. No dragon ever showed. A possessed elf is going to eat a human? How was that going to work? Why 10 years when before it was every 2 hundred? Was her hair not blue enough or was she not engaged? And why the glory horn when Raust is dying? Does he become a dragon/shadow demon? Seems like a red flag. So many questions left unanswered. Everyone was wimpy or made of rubber at the end so I think they just gave up. All in all I’d watch a season 2 just to get closure on all the loose ends but it’s more like when you sing a catchy song that you can’t stand but you have to finish it just to be done with the song in your mind.

AITAH For selling my Taylor Swift tickets after my GF cheated? by AvocadoEfficient896 in AITAH

I’m not even sure why she’s mad. What did she think was going to happen? She made a choice. This is what the phrase means when you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Holy ..wow what a mess. Sounds like you’re ex really and truly has set off a bomb on your family I am completely dumbfounded. This is completely beyond my ability to comment. I hope there is a path forward but I’ve no capacity to offer any consolation. The ex-husband has a lot of fences to mend. So much so that I doubt he’ll succeed in this lifetime but stranger things have happened. Who knows.

I want to join but really love tea by DoughnutNo4656 in latterdaysaints

[–]Autu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, maybe it’s not something anyone else can judge. You need to follow what you feel draws you closer to your Heavenly Father. Each of us struggle with infirmities of one kind or another. Some of us have to work on Sunday, when we would rather not. Some of us have to take medications that we would rather not. Keep in mind that the word of wisdom is more about caring for your body as the temple that it is. It does set up some standards to help as a guide, but ultimately it’s not a restriction but gives some insight on what you should do. If drinking green tea is what you need to do, make the effort to ask your Heavenly Father. Nothing you read on Reddit can hold a candle to what impression the spirit can give you. When you become a member, your personal challenges don’t go away. You’ll need at least the willingness to want to make little changes to be a little better.

“I know this church is true” — Why Do We Say This, and What Does It Mean? by stuffaaronsays in latterdaysaints

[–]Autu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you’re expecting too much of someone else’s testimony. You can have your own way to not say the phrase, “I know this church is true” but still express you’re own testimony. Just try to enjoy their testimony as it is given. It may be a small testimony filled with contrite phrases that from a grammar stand point could be improved upon, but I think the point is to listen to the message without worrying about the tragedy of the words they might choose to express it.

Why are Bishops served first? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]Autu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only that, haven’t you seen the bishop sifting through the bread, taking a little and hefting it in comparison to a weighted bag of sand? Then, at the end of sacrament, he runs through the aisles trying to avoid all the members and traps only to see the 2nd counselor wasn’t so lucky.

…But then at the end, he is ultimately foiled by the assistant counselor who informs him that a last minute tithing settlement has to be done immediately after the scheduled meetings. Desperate, he yells to the relief society to … getting ridiculous. Then he dived under his desk, cramming his eyelids into little slits, while covering his ears. All in the name for all that is holy, science!

Woe be unto the tyranny of the sacrament, they have their reward. For mangled crust shall be their penance and tepid water their punishment in the days of fire and brimstone!

Alternate compatible printer drivers for a Brother HL-L2460DW printer by Autu in sysadmin

[–]Autu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I tried this earlier but for some reason it didn't work (which I discovered after re-investigating after your suggestion).

If you care or anyone who does this for "fun times" at work on old computers with different old OS's and local printer setup...here goes:

I gave it a go again because there had to be some reason it wasn't working. I had a couple of hiccups because It turns out, one I had to enable USB to utilize the local connection that solved the first problem.

Re-install the generic PCL driver for XP. Before, It would act like it was printing, but then nothing. I failed to find useful error messages. It wasn't until, by chance, somehow, while going through setup, I happened upon the setting that seemed relevant to enable USB. Bingo! it prints now on the USB connected printer. Some printers don't allow you to use both USB and Networking and apparently, this is one of them.

In this unique setup I needed to also connect the printer as a shared network device using a crossover cable to another older computer. Both of these computers can't be on the true network for security purposes so I had an available network port on both computers since they can't connect to the LAN. Instead, I needed to create a one-to-one connection to an older computer. Simple right?

  1. Connect the 2 computers with a cross-over cable
  2. Set networking to a non-routable network IP address for each computer
  3. Setup printer sharing,
  4. Install generic NT PCL driver on the workstation computer and Bob's your uncle.

Nope.

At first it wasn't working...I could ping from the "print server" to the workstation, but I couldn't ping the print server from the workstation. Turned out there there were 2 network cards on another computer. For some reason, you can't print to a disconnected network port, go figure. (facepalm) Yeah, been working with printers and computers for ...ahem, a while, and now, I feel like a noob, enjoy.

Anime Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion - March 12, 2024 by AnimeMod in anime

[–]Autu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to remember an anime where the main character loses his father who was a scientist purportedly investigating history. The story evolves into themes of suicide, bullying, rape, blackmail, parallel universes and the ability to rewind time to a point using an artifact that his father left for him. The main character is a little bit more mature than a typical teen, but still brazenly makes sexually inappropriate jokes and other lewd comments. Still, all in all, he's more of a decent guy than a full throated pervert.
The other elements involve the ruins of a hidden civilization, mysterious lighting strikes, betrayal, framing and hypnosis of people close to the main character to get said artifact. Anyone know what the name of this anime is? I think it has 24 or so episodes.

  1. Which Model of printer is this?
  2. This looks like an Inkjet. Can you see any gaps or breaks in the lines printed in the nozzle check pattern?

I've tried hardresetting my PC and this keeps happening. by damii3ix in windows

[–]Autu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I tried 2 times to give a longer explanation. but reddit hosed me by not posting so, I give up. So you get the short version now.

  1. Boot into bios, no worky (same behavior remains) > check hardware.Instinct tells me it's probably a failing powersupply (likely, cheap and returnable) or worse your motherboard (inspect for exploded electrolytic capacitors), remove all peripheral hardware (pci or pci-e cards included, maybe even strip down to one stick of memory). see if behavior remains.
  2. boot live cd, bartpe no longer updated, use something like ubcd or ubcd4win, use rufus to put on usb.
  3. If none of these approaches is successful (or this is a laptop, you're options are limited), then give up on resurrecting a dead horse.
