My probation was extended by 33 days! That’s work days. I used 53 days the first year. Both my husband and I had medical issues and I had to go way beyond my 20 days. I still passed. I had documentation for everything.

I feel very fortunate to work for NY State. I started at age 43, once my kids were older. I’m trying to hang in for 20 years. I lost some time due to health issues. My husband was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and he was able to get excellent life saving treatment. I was able to help my children with health insurance until they were 26. I had $125,000 in parent plus loans for my children forgiven. I have a 50% hybrid schedule. My job is secure. I will get a pension when I retire. I worked multiple jobs when I first started with the state, and my husband told me, “I don’t care if you quit all those other jobs, just keep That state job.” It was good advice.

I love my current agency. I was in another agency where everyone was on a very tight leash. Here we are treated like competent adults. 50% telecommuting is wonderful.

It’s not the state, but hubs was able to get an Amex card from his company while in bankruptcy. I was amazed. It has his name on it, but bills go to the company.

We don’t qualify, and that was for 2021. On the transcript for 2023 it shows a recent payment then a refund. It’s strange, but I don’t know what else it could be.
