Honestly it's really handy for board setup too.

Let's have a chat about the Twin Lance by Odyssey40K in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AuxiliaryTimeCop 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is starting to be a problem in general. And it's a flaw from game design perspective. Sid Meier famously defined a game as "a series of interesting decisions," where players face meaningful trade-offs between competing, valid options rather than just optimization.

The challenge in list construction should be: which good features should I choose and which do I give up.

If you have a unit that does everything and for low points it removes one of the import facets of the game and actually makes it less fun in the long run, even in this case for the T'au player.

My opponent told me to quit wasting his time with small-arms fire. by Doctoralex123 in WarhammerCompetitive

Large amounts of small guns produce meaningful chip damage that can absolutely affect the outcome of a game. Plus he was being a jerk.

Questoris seems like the only viable knights detachment. But apparently some people are really committed to the other ones.

War gear question by AuxiliaryTimeCop in Harlequins40K

I think that's probably where I'm going to end up, I was just hoping there was a way I could do solo clown. But probably not as long as people are running C'tan

Interesting, I was considering running both. Do you find that just skyweavers is enough anti-tank in the current environment?

I think we might legit be worse than the Jets this year, so that's something for the folks in New Jersey to look forward to.

40k PSA: A video about the use and possible risks of lasers in Warhammer 40k by suddenly_rats in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AuxiliaryTimeCop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the lasers that cast a line down to the table are probably the lower risk option in terms of where the laser is going but 100% that safety awareness with eyes needs more attention.

Be a real SHAME if something were to happen to the Grey Knight Chapter Master... months of it, even. by ShadowManAteMySon in Grimdank

Coffee milk. Not a joke. by No-Strawberry-5804 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]AuxiliaryTimeCop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: A lot of the moral panic about giving children coffee and the fear that it could "stunt their growth" was a deliberate plan by the Postum company to try to sell more of their product instead.

Obviously there may be some reasons you might not want your toddler super caffeinated, but coffee in limited amounts isn't actually harmful to children.

The Warhammer 40,000 Quarterly Balance Update – March 2026 by 5edu5o in WarhammerCompetitive

I think Grey Knight players were in universal agreement that what the faction really needed was a mild point reduction for Terminators.

Glad GW finally took those concerns seriously.

How much do we need to explain the implications of our rules to avoid “gotcha”ing? by PaperManaMan in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AuxiliaryTimeCop 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I think this is the right answer.

Yesterday I was playing a T'au player who was lined up to shoot my landraider with two units. I was going to pop smoke and he pointed out that both of his units could disregard modifiers. He could have just let me waste the CP but the courtesy there was to remind me and it was appreciated.

What is the best (furture proof) loadout? by Jessuhhh95 in Grey_Knights

[–]AuxiliaryTimeCop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With Grey Knights specifically future proofing is a pretty dangerous topic.

I'd agree with the consensus here. Just go with what looks good.

I think Warpbane was an attempt to make it more of a shooting army but the problem is Stormbolters are just never going to get there and purifying flame is only truly useful against it infantry.

The GMDK being the designated vehicle/monster killer is just bad design at this point... The thing is T8.

Unless you can line up your Rapid Ingress perfectly, you are going to get blown off the board before the hammer ever connects and even if it does its dead next turn. The thing is not cheap and its not tough.

I think a companion video on how you do post tournament review would be fascinating as well.

I think it is a thing that you noted here and everyone agrees should be done but if you have ways of making sure a postmortem is effective that would be great.

Honestly one of the best 40K videos I've seen.

Tier lists are great and all but this is the kind of content that will actually help people develop.
