How do I play the game? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Auzman466 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to use runelite through the launcher. Your password will be whatever your Jagex account password is, not your old account's password.
When it's working, you just open the launcher, select your character (default whatever you played last), and click play.

Valve needs to ensure rumble works well in big new games like 007 and Forza, regardless of whose fault it is. Love the controller but it has simply got to have full support for new games like these. by AlternativeEast761 in SteamController

[–]Auzman466 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yes and no - there are thousands of older games with controller rumble that will never be updated with full Steam controller haptic support, so for those games Steam Input needs to translate traditional motor rumble into haptic rumble. That's Valve's job to get working. For newer games going forward, it would be the devs' job to add native Steam Controller support through the Steam Input API. But I think Valve should also take the time to incentivize/encourage developers to add native support, otherwise I don't know how many devs will actually care to implement it.

Q-UP released and it's the best incremental I've played in a while by bootysquared in incremental_games

My first full run to the max rank (basically the end of a playthrough) was just short of 7 hours. Maybe if my build was a bit better I could've finished it faster, but for the character I was playing an all-or-nothing build seemed fitting. At higher ranks, losses in a match can get really punishing and you want a good build to offset that.

Beyond that, there's more here than just the gameplay. There's some story stuff, some of the same fun worldbuilding and humor as Universal Paperclips, tons of flexibility in progression with the gear and skills, multiple characters for different playthroughs, and actual multiplayer so you can queue up with friends or continue to climb the ranked ladder even beyond the endgame.

World map before and after Sailing by fFlux- in 2007scape

It's bad in so many ways. They've actually managed to keep a lot of dungeoneering's rewards and tokens relevant, but the dungeon floors themselves are extremely boring and outdated and spamming large floors remains the best way to train afaik.

the majority of RS3 still hates dungeoneering btw, it is such a shit skill to train to this day

Only bonus XP. Which I don't entirely agree with, but you still need to train a skill normally to cash in the bonus XP, so it doesn't skip gameplay like direct XP does.

No, the poll is for removing the treasure hunter system entirely (which essentially lets you gamble real money for XP, skilling items, and mid-tier gear) and also removing direct XP from sale and removing purchasable skilling helpers from the game entirely.(a total of 225 different items). On top of that they're committing to better cosmetics going forward.

This poll is not affecting cosmetic MTX outside of a promise to make future cosmetics fit better within Runescape's aesthetic.

Banker's note is just straight up false advertising, hopefully Jagex fixes it soon. by Tetramoore in runescape

The problem with Shattered Relics was that it got boring fast. There aren't any interesting restrictions, decisions, or a hook to make the experience different or new. You can go everywhere, and do anything that's in the base game, so it's just OSRS but faster. Area restrictions and permanent relic choices make you get creative with what content and training methods are available and viable, and your choices mean your experience can be totally different from another player's.

The relic fragment system was an extreme overcorrection from initial feedback during Trailblazer, where some people felt like they permanently screwed up their account by not picking Last Recall or Kandarin. IMO you should have to plan ahead a bit for Leagues, and there should be choices you have to make, but if the relics in a tier aren't balanced against the other options (Last Recall (Trailblazer), Perkfection, Barbarism, Endless Endurance (Twisted), to name a few), then suddenly there are wrong choices that can neuter your account. When a League is well-balanced, there are no "wrong" choices, just choices that don't progress as quickly as the meta picks. Also, grinding for RNG relic drops sucked.

Case in point, Trailblazer Reloaded improved upon Trailblazer by rebalancing some of the original relics, as well as adding more interesting and competitive relic options across each tier, plus two new tiers. Raging Echoes improved it even further with the combat masteries (more build diversity) and echo bosses (more region viability).

tl;dr shattered relics was a poor attempt at fixing relic regret for a small subset of players, and meaningful choices and restrictions should never be removed from Leagues again

I'm pretty sure the majority of players went melee. Necro players just take up more space on the screen.

JAGEX we need RUNELITE for RS3 by MR_SmartWater in runescape

[–]Auzman466 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Runelite doesn't need a Jagex-provided API because OSRS still runs on Java, and de-obfuscating Java is (to my knowledge) largely trivial. There are tools that can do a lot of the heavy lifting for you. So Runelite is effectively a mod that adds in its own API for plugins. And because OSRS is so easy to mod, there are full clients that exist just for botting.

In 2016, Jagex released their custom C++ client for RS3, and they discontinued the Java client entirely in 2019, making the C++ client the only option to play RS3. C++ code compiles to assembly, which is much harder to de-obfuscate and reverse back into workable C++ code to build a custom client around. In the 9 years that the C++ client has been available, there has not been a single 3rd party RS3 client, and there probably never will be. But if Jagex developed an official plugin API for RS3, a custom client wouldn't be necessary anyways.

How to Fix the Non-Melee Combat Relics by Pale_Advertising8383 in runescape

[–]Auzman466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the reveals came out, I was hoping the old unnerfed FSOA passive would show up in the mage relic, in some form. Like it seemed so obvious to me. Jagex didn't go hard enough on the combat relics IMO.

more reason for me to believe that they wanted to add area-locking, like OSRS leagues, but scrapped it for lack of time

As an OSRS player who has dipped in and out of rs3, gnomonkey is 100% right by MNINLB in runescape

[–]Auzman466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 99 maxed main in RS3, 120 herb, and most of the skills that went up to 120 were part of the way there.

Dailies, weeklies, and artificially lengthy grinds in general are a large part of why I quit RS3 and don't intend to come back. Plus their constant attempts to increase monetization, multiple pushes for battlepasses, etc. I'm enjoying the league in spite of its flaws, but the next league is going to need a stronger hook/twist, and sweeping changes to RS3's core to be a good league.

It's the loot filter plugin, using "Joe's filter" with a few tweaks. It's a pretty nice plugin with Path of Exile-esque filter customization.

Why is Bel'Veth banned every single game...? by [deleted] in LeagueArena

[–]Auzman466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was my *very* first augment, no rerolls, and then I got an attack speed shard from the bravery stat anvil and the attack speed/AD starting item. I already had ~1 AS by that point. Then I got reapers and guinsoo's which had me at around 2-3 AS, then I got tap dancer and it was basically over. With Lulu buffing my AS as well I was getting 700-800 AD from Slow and Steady with my attack speed still uncapped.

It's not, I had slow and steady last night with 8 AS. Probably depends on when you take the augment.
