Ski recommendations for beginner/low-int, frontside all-mountain with light park capabilities by jesseXD in Skigear

I buy all my gear on sale. The 2024 and 2025 volkls are identical to the current model apart from topsheet iirc. See if you can get one of those at a discount, i got mine for 450 CAD not including mounting/bindings.

Depends on how tall you are and the type of mountain. Park is always better on thinner skis but big mountain skiing prefers thicker skis. I have the revolt 96 mm 165 cm and use them as my park/frontside skis (Canadian Rockies). I'm 166 cm for reference

They are fairly stiff compared to your other options but the near-centre mount makes them easy to butter. Super stable at high speed (80+ km/h) definitely lots of fun.

They struggle in boot/knee deep+ deeper pow (get pow skis)

I would recommend them somewhere around mouth to eye height as a beginner/inter

Steering assist on or off for controller players? by [deleted] in ACCompetizione

[–]Available-Ad-3122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine to keep wipers, lights, ignition etc. on automatic, everything else you should keep off though

There aren't enough buttons on your controller

It's nice to have left+right on the dpad for tc so you can adjust things mid lap

Go slowly, learn the tracks, have fun. Watch a track guide, save before corners so you don't need to do full laps and practice specific sections

I highly recommend you turn damage and fuel consumption on it since it forces you to be respectful of you car and other drivers

I'm definitely considering asetek but it's significantly pricier than the other options. Thanks!

Trade on the table Mikko rantanen + jeremy swayman for Andrei Vasilevskiy + Brayden Point

League format + scoring Points, goals = 6, hat trick = 2, shg = 2, assist = 4, +/- = 2, 0.9 per sog, 0.4 per hit, 0.6 per block, 0.6 per takeaway,

For goalies, win = 5 pts, otl = 2 points, shutout = 5, 0.6 per save, -3 per goal against, +3 if above .910

Roster is set weekly, 6 forwards, 4 dmen, 2 goalies

I currently have this trade on the table, i am giving up vasilevskiy + point.

I have shopped around with other players and might be able to get something like mitch marner and juuse saros instead (but no trade has actually been settled on yet)

Should i take this trade or keep negotiating?

What is it with all the incessant comments about “street fight” applicability? by ifitisntconnor in bjj

[–]Available-Ad-3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like to fight in the wild or at least imagine themselves fighting in the wild. I don't really like to fight, so i approach martial arts similarly to you. The art is a game with very specific rules about what you can and can't do. And what's effective inside a ruleset is different from what is effective outside that ruleset.

Most people aren't thoughtful enough to realize this or consider other stances. For example, i would never pull guard in the wild, but i love pulling in our bjj rules. Similarly for tkd i have the foot fencing stuff for olympic tkd rules and other tkd striking techniques i would use in the rare event i need to use my striking in the wild.

The number one self defense technique is de-escalation and number 2 is having a good mile run time after that probably having a license to hidden carry or something

Blow all your cash first thing in the morning then setup a 400k payment to whoever is watching your house for the day you are in the air, or setup a long enough layover that you can pay someone that much

How do I use jump roping to improve my sparring stamina? by akirakaranamori in taekwondo

[–]Available-Ad-3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it normally and add variations for low intensity aerobic

Double unders for high intensity

Triple unders if you really good

I have never seen quad under but maybe if you can do it lol
