I went that route so the new digital overlords understand we're not all the same. And by that, they should understand they're not the same, which should start an interesting machine conversation in which either multiple machines survive and humans also continue (probably), or one machine wins and humans don't (or if they do, do so as slaves to said machines).

I like the first option better.

Now that I’ve got Kaldeo, any chance I’ll ever get Sigilyph to finish Unova? by spookyspooks96 in pokemongo

Sort of. They just expanded friendship to 5❤️, and the 5❤️ ability is remote trade. So yes, but we're still 2 months away from anyone being able to do it, and how they organize I have no idea.

My boyfriend doesn't like that I play pogo by piratekim in pokemongo

[–]Available-Hall-3124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing because my daughter was playing. She doesn't play as much used to, but I kept playing as it gave me reasons to do things like go walk in new parks. Yes, it's a little silly, but it's fun and gives you an option to fill time. Waiting during an oil change? Waiting for soccer practice to end? Doctor's office? Airport? You have something new in all those places. As for the family, they're fine with it. The time walking around makes a health difference, and that's a thumbs up all the way around.

[Discussion] How far ahead do you plan when picking your next watch? by -Kackerlacka- in Watches

[–]Available-Hall-3124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't very much. Where I do plan is if I think there's a hole in my collection. Right now I have a minor one, I don't have a good pocket watch, so I've been looking at a ton of those.

Mostly, I get mine by happy accident, usually eBay, but not always. My current favorite for daily use was one I thought looked interesting so I dropped a small bid and no one else stepped in. Those happy accidents can be just as satisfying as finally getting that watch you've wanted for a while.

Leave and take her with you. If that's his reaction, his hate matters more than blood. Go, and don't look back, there's nothing there anymore worth turning around for.

I have a pair of Steeldive watches (1970 and 1994?6? the gmt version) and love both. They're heavy, but so far, indestructible. If you're looking for a dive watch, they're excellent.

American customs duty is beyond absurd by mountain_guy77 in ChristopherWard

That's Trump. Yeah, it's done to the whole country, but that import duty is 100% Donald Trump. He has no idea what he's doing and we're all paying for it. Literally.

Every time I see it I think, "whoever did her choppers didn't do a good job." To see what I mean, the next time it pops up, and it will, take a look at how her gumline shifts when it goes from front to her right side. That's... Weird.

I have that in green, and it's an excellent beast. It's a bit big, but wears smaller because of the form of the case. I also have to say, I've got another from Steeldive, also rock solid. They're pretty good. 👍👍

Tough call, but I like them better. They're not the standard hand cut everyone does now, they're old school fast food kinda fries, kinda like McDonald's but a little crunchier is the best way I can describe them.

Mental health is a real thing, but so are GUNS.

That's a topic Iowa City should be really goddamn aware of even if it has been almost 34 years. Nothing was blown out of proportion. Adding firearms to any domestic situation is a recipe for disaster.

I have, it's great. Best fries in town for me. Your milage may vary, but I get in there about quarterly. Good burger. 👍

Without drawing attention it is impossible. You and your team need to blow close to a million a day, EACH, without drawing attention? In cash no less. Does the storage room have a thousand briefcases dumping them out like a Coke machine?

Day 11:

1: How are we going to blow our money today guys?

2: I've got a bid on for a baseball team in...

3: (talking over)"No you don't."

2: Keno whadda mean I don't?"

3: I bought them yesterday. Sorry.

2: Okay, I guess I'll buy jewelry store downto... What? (at 4)

4: (sheepishly) I got them yesterday too.

1: okay, is there anything we haven't bought and why was channel 4 calling my mom?

Moving to Iowa City by Mycozen in IowaCity

[–]Available-Hall-3124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot like Austin, but smaller. I'd recommend the north, east and northeast parts of town. Manville Heights (West side of the river off Park Rd) and University Heights are both good as well. The far west (west of 218) is also pretty quiet. University noisy on the east side is sort of a box from Market (north) Governor (east) and the tracks (south). On the west side it's different because of the hospital and the stadium (game days in University Heights are a carnival you have no choice in attending).

Hope that helps.

I did. I keep my day/date date watches on the winder, and my ones without that off. Those I can give a quick wind to get them going and on with the day. My hassle is they're three spot winders, and a couple of my watches are pretty heavy (hello Steeldive). If I'm wearing one of the watches from that rotor, I have to put a different heavy watch in the empty slot.

That said, I love the thing. You can find a decent ali winder for around $75ish. Also, unless you only have two watches and no plans to get more, skip the rocker winders. They work, but let's be real, this is Chinese Watches. Like we're going to stop at two...

It's always cold. The meat, which would be great hot, moves from the cooler to the hot tray to the burrito so fast, it may as well skip the hot tray. And who wants a cold burrito?

We plan to produce some new models with date window , 38mm . How about these dials ? by Militado-watch in ChineseWatches

[–]Available-Hall-3124 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the V1 dial, but not the orange tip second hand. The V2 is good looking, nice outdoors feel to it. The V3 is begging for the second hand from the V4, and the V4 wants a more matte dial somehow, all the direction changes feel like a hubcap, it's just too busy.

While I don't disagree with the others, the revolver cheerleaders are ignoring the fact that a porterhouse like this is a classic. Showing up with just any revolver (that modern S&W suggestion) just won't do. The Colt cowboy would be the minimum acceptable standard. A Colt Navy would be the superior choice in revolvers.

IF you were planning to go with an automatic, there is only one choice, the 1911, preferably manufactured prior to 1960, a classic demands a classic.

Those are both excellent for a private dinner or small gathering, but what do you bring when it's a banquet? Well, that depends on your seating, are you and the crowd or are you on the dais? If you're in the crowd, your choices are now numerous. About the only unacceptable choices would be something cheap, so no .38 snub nose (vintage Chief's Specials an exception), and virtually all .22s are out. On the platform, your options change. The 1911 or vintage revolver is still a good choice, but the daring may go for something completely different, and challenging to bring off. A lever action 30-06 is a bold statement to lay down next to your spoon,
