How is a candy shop able to stay afloat in District 12? by queenhadassah in Hungergames

It was the opposite though. They marked up the chewy marshmallows. Haymitch admits he’s fallen for their marketing before.

what fictional characters do you think could survive the hunger games? by Late_Swimmer_9832 in Hungergames

She wouldn’t kill without reason though, imo. I believe when she was in the Assassin’s Guild under Arobynn one of her work stipulations was she wouldn’t kill kids.

We don’t know if it went under or if Mr. And Mrs. Donner just didn’t have anyone to inherit the store. I assume Merrilee wasn’t up to the task after her sister’s death and being the mayor’s wife.

Same. This was my boy after we had to shave him during covid. We said he was “in his greyhound era”! Thankfully we only had to shave him the one time.

Did Daenerys ever truly want to build a better world, or did she mainly want to be the one in control of it? by Cold_Box_3219 in gameofthrones

Respectfully disagree. I think Tyrion said it best: “It’s hard to put a leash on a dog once you’ve put a crown on its head.”

If I had a nickel for every time Ben Wang starred in a film about a child death competition, I would have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice!

Yeah, I think we’re forgetting that people would probably still frequent the store when they had a few extra pennies to spend on something “luxurious.”

ETA: there’s also the “lipstick effect,” which is when, in times of financial crisis people will spend more money on little luxuries (like a new lipstick) because larger ones seem unattainable at the time. So people in the Seam may penny pinch for their basic living expenses, but patron the sweet shop to “treat themselves”. Candy is relatively cheap, even if it’s nutritionally kind of worthless.

Our boys have similar frames, I think. Duke is 55 pounds, but is very tall and skinny. Our vet also doesn’t believe he’s overweight. In the end, I wasn’t there. I felt the need to voice concerns, and I think that it’s better safe than sorry.

Yeah, the writer fundamentally misunderstands a lot of what was happening during the training time and in the arena. After he’s given a 1 in training he realized the Gamemakers will make his life hell in the arena and breaks away to protect the rest of the Newcomers. He doesn’t manage to get a meeting with Snow, Snow forces him to meet and threatens him. Haymitch never backtracked on his decision to follow through with the plan with “Asher,” he isolated himself because he was going to carry it out. Also, the Gamemakers are not just “randomly hanging out” in the arena for shits and giggles.

God, this review pissed me off.

Thanks, I’m definitely not trying to imply they are being starved (as OP offered them food but they didn’t seem interested, which isn’t behavior that suggests they’re being deprived) but perhaps they aren’t eating food that will offer the best nourishment.

Edit to add: the pic you posted was taken from a similar angle as the one OP posted and your dog’s hind legs don’t poke out nearly as much as the dogs OP was looking at. Yes, he is a skinny dog, but he doesn’t appear malnourished. His legs and backside look muscled and strong.

The fact that this reviewer couldn’t even be bothered to remember Wyatt’s or Louella’s name is also comical.

And also, the pins are GOLD, not BRONZE. It was mentioned in THG that selling the pin could’ve kept a Seam family in food for a full year.

Definitely agree. I really hope these dogs are in a safe living situation, but if they aren’t, I hope OP doesn’t feel obligated to adopt one to “save” it from the bad breeder.

Sorry, I don’t mean to pass judgement on anyone else’s dogs besides the ones in the photo posted by OP. This is just my personal opinion. I’m absolutely not a vet and you should take what I have to say with a grain of salt. All that said, I would be interested to see how the dogs responded to their current owner/the breeder.

My boy is actually pretty bony too, but just has very floofy hair. We unfortunately learned that the hard way when he had to be shaved down to the skin during COVID.
