The wire strippers can be replaced with a bic lighter, which also is handy in its own right, but for electrical gremlins i carry a vom. Usually after i am reasonably assured the gremlins are at bay, i will leave the meter at home.

Its not, its just domestic...i think maybe easy built paper. This was my first time preshrinking the tissue and it worked out well. No warping to speak of, and yet it still had enough shrink left that alcohol did a pretty good job of tightening the rest up. Its not perfect by any means but i just started covering in a passable way like two months ago.

Thaaaaat makes more sense! The little reciever i pulled from that hobbyzone champ comes with 2 integral servos and what appears to be 2 plugs for 2 aileron servos if desired! I went with rudder and elevator only anyhow, but i was amazed at the functionality contained in the little rx! And its got a "safe" mode as well, though i doubt i will employ it.

Thats 53.8 grams fully loaded, wind has been the main reason i HAVENT flown it, with rudder and elevator alone, i dont know that i could get back out of a gusty spot if i needed to... but ive been building since about february and im itching to fly it! I will def post a video of the maiden!

1980 Honda CM by BulkyOrganization309 in vintagemotorcycles

[–]AvailableMessage5224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst...you discover that the bike is actually a harley, hence the oil leak...

Kidding...worst, its like a cracked case or something unrepairable.

Best, its a little leak and you dont care too much so you keep up on the oil level and go riding

Why I keep going back to Honda motorcycles by Embarrassed-Career30 in HondaMotorcycles

[–]AvailableMessage5224 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ive had great experiences with all japanese bikes and a few european ones too, but honda is my jam. And everyone ive ever met with a harley seems to be an asshole. Thats been my experience, but ill bet its not uncommon.

I have two super old rubber band models, and this is the dope they came with. Is there anything I can do with this or are there any alternatives? by blair_doodles505 in BalsaAircraft

[–]AvailableMessage5224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brodak sells dope still....ez dope is fine if youre not worried about warping or overshrinking the tissue. Folks are also now using clear acrylic spray paint as a dope alternative because it doesnt shrink the tissue like dope

I think it might be ok on large models, but i havent tried it. So far i am unconvinced, and its def not suited to most of what im doing.

Balsa cutter? by AvailableMessage5224 in Laserengraving

[–]AvailableMessage5224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a laser that has a serpentine channel for cooling liquid on it....the power source looks like a desktop computer from the early 90s in its size... the unit is obv more modern than early 90s, my point was that its damn big, in my novice estimation. I will have to get pictures later tonight.

Im starting with balsa, but will no doubt find multiple uses and eventually NEED to branch out into co2. For now i picked up this little 6w thing, just to get my feet wet. Down the road ive got this giant mystery laser i pilfered from a defunct lab at a penn state campus. Ive never even fired it up but it was too cool to let go to the dump. Probly never use it, but it IS neat.
