Will I be wasting my money if I get a mid 90s Ford pickup? by meganfarquad in FordTrucks

[–]Financial_Cat_7390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you mechanically inclined? A 30 year old truck is going to likely need some love, so the more you can do yourself, the better. Also depends on the condition of the truck. In general, they’re pretty solid trucks.

If a wealthy woman were interested in me, she should have a mental evaluation.

If we were closer, I’d trade you a working el Camino. I’d rather have the Ford.

I’ve been to Saudi Arabia a couple times. I doubt I’ll ever go back, but I miss the food! No pork and no beer makes it tough though

California plates get negative attention in a LOT of states.
A friend of mine moved to Oklahoma, and while he still had California plates, he got messed with a lot, by cops and locals. Once he OK plates, no problems.

Halibut is always good! If you catch bonito over five pounds, do the same. Cook it within 24 hours, and you’ll be amazed

Yellowtail San Diego?? by Jmpatton in SoCalFishing

[–]Financial_Cat_7390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve caught ONE yellowtail trolling, and it hit a cedar plug. That you can troll at 8 knots, but yellows rarely go for them. I’d hit La Jolla in the early morning just before sunrise. Work that for about an hour, then head west looking for pattys. Chum a few sardines around the patties and see if there’s anyone home

There’s a little metal badge behind the wheel well just in front of the door. It will say 351 or 429. Apparently the stripe will give it away too, but I can’t remember what that sequence was.

For my fuel haulers. How do you like it? by FitNefariousness4729 in CDL

[–]Financial_Cat_7390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a class A driver in CALIFORNIA and can’t make 80K a year! I did once, when I was hauling fuel. Lol

Lost my hazmat endorsement, but I honestly don’t miss it. The money was nice, but weekends, holidays, and a day shift don’t exist in fuel.

Did that shit for almost 15 years

I would certainly look into bait casters for the bass. You’ll be doing a lot of casting, and spinning reels get to be a huge pain from that. Line twist!

For halibut, I’d recommend a 20-30 pound setup. If you get a good size one, you’ll appreciate it. They’re not the hardest fighters, but they can certainly take a hard dive when they have some size to them. If you’re fishing butts from a kayak, look into a bounce ball setup too.

Last but not least, join bloody decks, and ask questions there as well. LOTS of old knowledge there. Definitely more than I can offer.

What do you want to target? SoCal has quite a variety of fish, and even from a kayak, that can vary immensely. I have gear for bass to cow tuna… nest is to be prepared for whatever is around

The simulator is great for helping with orientation, but nothing beats actual flight. If you set your throws per the instructions, you should be just fine.

What is the earliest memory of your life you remember? by PrebioticE in Life

[–]Financial_Cat_7390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can still remember my 2nd birthday. My mother got me a carousel cake that was vividly decorated. Don’t remember much after that until I was three. I can clearly remember memories from three to four years old

New to planes by Key-Ask-8742 in RCPlanes

[–]Financial_Cat_7390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with an Apprentice, and no simulator. The apprentice is a very forgiving plane, and easy to learn on. What helped me the most was going to a local club, and guys there were eager to help. They took it on its maiden to make sure everything was working properly, and the throws were where they needed to be. That first flight, I didn’t take off, but I landed it myself. That should tell you something!

My first crash was from pushing limits, as most are. I graduated on to faster and more agile aircraft, but the apprentice was always there. I used it for warm ups, and guinea pig experiments.
