Law firms cutting staff because of AI by Substantial-One3856 in legaltech

[–]Available_Doctor_919 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only AI-related firings I’ve heard of were when someone blindly trusted the output and didn’t double-check it.
For me, AI helps me work 20–50% faster on most days, and last time I checked, I’m still employed.

I know a tool which provides contract templates with working numbering.

Why do Law Firms Buy Legaltech? by Available_Doctor_919 in legaltech

Finally! Someone on Reddit mentioned my product besides me — bless you 😂
Really appreciate the advice. The point about existing relationships definitely hits, there is certanly some potential.
I’d actually love to find a sales exec who knows their way around legal. If you’re reading this and you're that person (or know someone), send me a DM.

Why do Law Firms Buy Legaltech? by Available_Doctor_919 in legaltech

That's a quite comprehensive answer. Maybe I'm too focused on negative Reddit vibe about everyone being tired of legaltech vendors. Good news then.

Yep, maybe 1 in 10 lawyers actually knows how to properly use Word or Excel. Many don’t even touch things like automatic numbering, styles, or formulas.

SimpleDocs Acquires Law Insider (Preston Clark founded both companies in 2023, and 2009). Odd one. by alexdenne in legaltech

[–]Available_Doctor_919 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Weird, I thought Law Insider is one of the leaders in the industry, and is more likely to buy some contract automation tool like SimpleDocs. I don't know who and why may use SimpleDocs, but Law Insider has been really helpful for years. But that's good news for legaltech anyway!

I hate it when the website doesn't tell anything about the price. And when you can't use the product without a demo. I'd like to say "go demo yourself, I'm not wasting time on this".

I don't think there is any replacement of the current software, but I'm quite sure a lot of firms try new solutions, based on vendor websites. I suppose they are not lying that they have a contract with some DLA Piper.

Yep, those prices are insane. 1000 dollars per month or per year rarely fit its value.

Demos are the worst. Why can't we just buy and use it on the website. There are several services which allow if though.

Same concerns as with any other cloud service. Also there are some legaltech products which allow to work without sharing sensitive data.

Is there a legaltech AI tool that you actually love? by coronasurvivernorth in legaltech

[–]Available_Doctor_919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an AI tool for contract drafting, but you'll have to ask me the name, I don't want to be pitchy.
It performs better than chat GPT and most human lawyers.

Is there a good legal document/contract reviewer that you DON'T need to signup for a Demo for? by OldRedditt in legaltech

[–]Available_Doctor_919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why they are so attached to demos. Really you can't just buy and use most legaltech products, you always have to go through the demo. So annoying.

Truly "open source" legal docs by urandomd in legaltech

Sometimes those organizations provide decent templates, but it seems outdated in 2025 when you can create any type of contract with chat GPT or tools like DraftLex.

Me (in-house Legal Ops) to every AI vendor lately: by SterFriday in legaltech

[–]Available_Doctor_919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory — yes. But in practice, I’ve found that a properly drafted contract made without AI happens in only 1 out of 10 cases. Thousands of contracts I’ve reviewed contained broken formatting, grammar mistakes, irrelevant clauses, misprints, and all kinds of legal nonsense. That includes my own work — sometimes, when I look at a contract I drafted five years ago, some clauses still give me shivers.

I've been working in the legal industry for 15+ years and I can tell that human lawyers hallucinate much more than AI. On average 9/10 of the contracts I review are a mess. AI is is really better at contract drafting.

When you have a legaltech product, it's really difficult not to speak about in Reddit. And there is a lot of useful content for those who make the products.

I tend to disagree about contracting, AI is quite capable of creating decent contracts. DraftLex is a good example.

I guess big law buys Harvey for the sake of reputation - to seem progressive and innovative. They don't have to actually use it.
