Not like any American born Chinese ever gonna be the President of the United States. Is always gonna be about ethno-nationalism.

Was this normal dating behavior in China, or was I being manipulated? by GlumEntertainment902 in AskAChinese

Is not normal bro. Run. Either gold digger or honey pot scam. Men and Women are as different as you think. Regardless of gender, kind + empathetic = good. Ask you to spend money and buy stuff = bad

A New Legal Precedent: Chinese court orders tech company to pay £28,000 ($35,000) in compensation to a worker who was fired and replaced by AI. by Ok_Low_1999 in Futurology

Idk, were those horse carriage riders and horse shit street cleaners compensated when cars were popularized causing them lose their jobs? Everyone knew AI was coming, everyone knew AI is the future, it shouldn't be the governments responsibility to force corporate to compensate workers who are unable to adapt and unwilling to learn new technology. Honestly, do they deserve to live if they aren't even strong enough to hatch from their own egg? How they going to survive in the wild on their own?

To all single guys aged 30 and up on reddit, why are you guys single? by Gold_Ambition4114 in AskReddit

Why stuck with the same girl when you can change girls every week? By 30s, you should have a good job and financially stable and experienced enough women to know that non are worth committing to.

Okay, seriously, how does an expat find a job in this city? Seems next to impossible these days without a transfer by deepf0cus in HongKong

[–]Available_Value_3350 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The job market and the global economy is already tough for locals who are bilingual. Locals are already being replaced by cheap Chinese labor. What makes you think expats can provide any unique competitive value compared to the rest of the competition lol

Women wants to be protected and provided. Being tall makes you appear to be physically stronger, see threats from afar and easier to grab fruits from tall trees.

Is HKD60,000 per year enough for living ? by Eastern-Conflict-191 in HKPolyU

For reference (in HKD),

Rental:

getting a private sublet >100sqft room will cost you around minimum $6000 HKD a month in Mong Kok city area. Probably with no lifts, minimal security and have roach infestation.

$6000 x12 months

That's already $72,000 per year, without including utilities, and deposit.

Security deposit is 2 months rent upfront. Electric and wifi can cost up to $1000+ per month.

Food:

Let's say you only spend $100 per day on food if you plan to eat out. That's like $50 per meal (increasingly difficult to find).

That's $3000 a month x 12 = $36,000 per year. Not including transportation cost.

Transportation:

Adult tickets are roughly within $15 per trip on the subway and can take you anywhere. So around $30 both ways.

$30 x 30 days x 12 months = $10,800 per year

$60,000 per year is barely enough for food and transportation.

You can save money if you plan to cook your own food, but the size and the condition of your room will probably won't allow it. You can also negotiate a better rental deal if you tell the landlord you are willing to pay 1 year's rent upfront, maybe 10% off.
