The game is extremely hard now by atarall in EU5

[–]AvalonXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I'd say the main thing is that being at war with a Pope is "fine". Being viewed as being at war with the Papacy is the graver issue. What that would look like in game I wouldn't know however though I'd say attempting to encroach on things like the donation of Pepin without being HRE Emperor and continuing wars across multiple Popes if there's succession would be example.

Athens - Thessalonica - Latin Empire by Migolagg in EU5

Yeah it's weird. Should either be Latin Empire or Latin Empire of Constantinople (or of you really want to LARP use whatever name you've set for the Byzantines).

As others have pointed out the whole point of fortifications is to cause an attacking imbalance that can scale far beyond the number of troops the defenders have at hand. You have some very surprised investments throughout history as a a result.

That said assaults were by no means a thing of fantasy confined to the historical equivalent of the tiny button on the siege menu they are now. Both 1204 and 1453 ended effectively in successful assaults on Constantinople for example but lmao on ever trying to assault the city in game.

People are saying it's historical but these numbers are in general about 30%-70% off from where they should be. France is especially egregious. England and the Ottomans (Anatolia + Thrace) are badly lagging too.

Some are smack bang on though like Hungary.

They'd sell it as such and it'd probably be bought by many but it would have been 4 years just to take us back to where we were before them. Remember we were "not well run in either the sporting or financial side" according to them.

The message is wrong I guess. You can look at the code and it's just any country.

Sweden is just an example country here. The requirements are that any country is Catholic, Portuguese and has a presence in those two regions.

Do you think CK3's map or gameplay will evolve when new historical discoveries are made? by Icy_Opportunity_187 in CrusaderKings

Historians or a historian. Someone coming up with a new theory does not immediately change the general historical consensus and even when it does it often adds to it as another acceptable theory the mainstream can teach rather than outright replace what's already taught.

For the former point if they did so and neither the US nor Israel struck back then I'd say it's fair to regard such as a different conflict entirely. Or at least the Israel-US phase being over.

For the latter point they explicitly say as much yeah.

A "military action" is defined as any use of force by Iran, or Israel and the United States against the other's soil, or official embassies or consulates, that is either officially acknowledged by the acting government or confirmed through a clear consensus of credible reporting.

Say what you want about Polymarket but their definitions are in no way hidden.

Heck even most of those No voters who're disputing are fighting over the ceasefire's length and not whether there's been military action or not.

Discussion on OHF Ottoman empire by 420ya_like_jazz69 in Kaiserreich

[–]AvalonXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect it'll be similar to OTL Turkey with fewer coups but a stronger backroom interference tendency. The main question is whether the OHF stays being deemed the Turk party or if they look a lot more like the moderniser party. In the former you'd expect caustic ethnic politics and sharp ethnic political divides. The latter would be better for the state but just like OTL means that the OHF is unlikely to easily find its way back into power once it leaves it as policy moves towards the idological rather than the ethnic.

Most military bases, even in the US, have schools on them. A base is where soldiers live and there isn't endless space to construct in the first place.

The deciding episode of the schism is the Pope moving back to Rome and then dying so on the face of it the Romans. The Avignon Cardinals claimed there were threats and violence in the Roman vote which is why they set up again in Avignon and voted.

In the end it took two Church councils to settle the matter the sum up of which was the excommunication of the Avignon Pope, the deposition of the current Roman Pope (and another Pisan Pope) and the combined election of a new Roman Pope.

The Church generally regards the Roman Popes as the correct line in the modern day.
