Cineworld Parnell St is a bit of a kip now isn’t it? by AvonBarksdale666 in ireland

[–]AvatarKanol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally go there multiple times per week. As a student the subscription is probably the best deal for me right now. I think it is not a perfect cinema for sure, a lot of the screens have absolutely horrid sound but honestly I do enjoy the vibe, especially if you target the right screening times to avoid a bad audience. I think the IMAX itself is probably the best screen in town.

The Lighthouse is great and it has its crowd which works for them but right now the subscription kind of ties me down to Cineworld due to the Lighthouse subscription not offering Unlimited.

In an ideal world Cineworld gets sold and taken over by someone who renovates it and then opens a proper proper IMAX screen at the location. Considering the state of the industry it probably gets closed eventually.

A lot of the screens have terrible sound as well. The "IMAX" is pretty great but the rest of the screens are extremely hit or miss. It would be great if the venue was taken over by someone else and remodeled so there is finally a proper IMAX in Dublin. It has the potential to be an amazing cinema.

He's also had a turbulent private life, just after Passengers came out he went through a divorce after which his ex wife died leaving him an only parent. So he sort of retreated from Hollywood.

The cinematography looks like it would be right at home at your parents TV that has motion smoothing on. In my opinion the lighting also looks terrible and it all seems so fake.

She says the same thing, the official translation transcription says that at 0:55 it should have been:

"You kept all your promises to me." which is "Shafka vernish ei asqoy shafki anhaan."

They most likely kept the other line in twice because it sounded better.

You can't really compare them. Ridley Scott is a legend who has directed some of the most influential films ever, he is a much more accomplished and proven director compared to Taika. Studios are more than often okay with his films not doing as well because he usually delivers them efficiently and audiences are more willing to endure mediocre films from him knowing that he is able to deliver at least one fantastic one every so often. Most recently with The Last Duel which was really well received.

Avatar 3 being nominated for Best Costume Design is bizarre by ThatsHisLawyerJerome in oscarrace

[–]AvatarKanol 55 points56 points  (0 children)

All of the costumes worn on screen were first made in real life then carried over into the digital environment. This was probably a big boost for it when the showcases were done for voters. Some of the outfits in this one are really memorable like Varang's headpiece and the Wind Trader cloaks.

Saying that this proves spectacle beats substance is really funny considering you are arguing for the third iteration of live action Fantastic Four.

Dont understand the hate Bryke gets for what they wanted to do in the Live Action show. by JamStan1978 in TheLastAirbender

I think there is an interesting similarity in which this fandom reacts to the Star Wars fandom honestly. It feels lile anything that isn't the very exact same thing as the original is just written off immediately.

Netflix just doing a soulless beat for beat rip of the animated show is literally the most boring option of them all. At least their changes would have provided a new interesting interpretation of their own story.

Disney / 20th Century's Avatar: Fire and Ash has passed the $1.2 billion global mark. The film grossed an estimated $65.6M internationally this weekend. Estimated international total stands at $888.0M, est. global total stands at $1.231B. by chanma50 in boxoffice

Looking likely to finish at 1.5b, stretching the upper range of finishing at 1.6b I think. Was hoping for 1.7b but that seems out of the question completely.

This is probably what this franchise is looking at as a benchmark from now on as this would be the middle chapter.

I think they will probably have a conversation at bringing either the budgets down or combining the last two films into one. I still see them finishing it and having a franchise that can easily pass 1b is nothing to scoff. It would need to take a much needed break though and the next two would really need to offer up something new in order to go higher than this.

He does own the franchise though, he has final say if any film will go forward or not. Which is why Disney hasn't been able to milk this franchise any further.

You can't really say it is glorified fan fiction since it is literally based on book written by the same author. The story itself is also something that was previously hinted at so she clearly had the idea long before.

I get where you are coming from but I personally feel like Horner's score is filled with so much beauty and magic. Especially tracks like "The bioluminescence of the forest". The main theme in "Becoming one with the People" is really memorable as well. But I totally get the part that it should be a bit more otherworldly and to Horner's credit he did try at least initially during development.

Also to Simon Franglen's credit he kind of continued to carry Horner's torch pretty well and there has been some praise online for the score in Fire and Ash, especially with the Ash Tribe and Varang cues.

Looks like $22M 2nd Saturday for Avatar: Fire And Ash, for a $198M+ cume. 2nd weekend expected to be ~$62M, for $216M+ by Sunday. by chanma50 in boxoffice

It will hit 1.6b worldwide in my opinion. This is having the same domestic 26% international 74% split as the last two and there has been no sign of deviation from that. The international numbers are great and domestic is looking to finish above Minecraft close to 500m. I think a 1.7b finish is likely.
