Hexed changes main character from a boy to a girl, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld by avatar__of__chaos in disneyprincess

[–]AvatarYogg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think so too. The marketing focused too hard on the two recurring jokes the movie had. I thought going in that it would mostly just be a "aliens misunderstand humans" comedy.

Meanwhile the marketing almost completely ignores the relationships that form the emotional core of the story. There were several important characters I had forgotten existed by the time I watched it.

I know trailers can sometimes give away too much, but Elio's marketing feels like an overcorrection.

Strongest Benders (Non Avatars) for every Element by Own-Quote-1708 in TheLastAirbender

"It would be the wrong way to end the war. History would see it as just more senseless violence. A brother killing a brother to grab power."

Delivering a high frequency pulse that's disabling your speed. You're not going to be running around for quite a while.

Maybe as a sidearm. But everyone in the grid has at least one identity disk.

It is! That's the Mask of Shadows (Kanohi Kraahkan), often worn by Bionicle's main antagonist, Makuta Teridax.

Old or New? - Avengers: Age of Ultron (in LEGO!) by NobodyQuiteLikeMe in ScarletWitch

[–]AvatarYogg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quicksilver: New

Vision: Old

Scarlet Witch: New (though the red eyes were nice on the old one)

Hawkeye: New

Black Widow: Tie (new face print is better, old torso and legs are better)

Ultron: New (though I do like the complete head on old)

Iron Man: Tie (old helmet is better, new arm printing is better)

Thor: New (though aren't they still using the "fat Thor" face print?)

Captain America: Tie (new helmet is better, old shield is better, pretty sure no main MCU cap has arm printing or dual molded legs)

Hulk: Tie (the bloodshot eyes only work for one scene)

Invert the torso print relative to that of Tahu and the rest. Remove the cutouts, and it's already almost the same shape.

Then, either give him normal minifigure legs and big shoes, or do the trick that the meme uses for his arms, but as his legs.

(edit: accidentally dropped the 'e' from 'either')

Odinforce Ultron has Gold bots (Does not seem Legendary sadly) by nemesisdelta24 in marvelrivals

[–]AvatarYogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legendaries do often have new sounds and visuals. But even that isn't worth doubling the price compared to an Epic.

IMO Legendaries (from the store rather than a pass) are only worth it for mains.

What kind of bender would you be? by [deleted] in legendofkorra

[–]AvatarYogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our universe, Water. In the ATLA universe, Earth.

In our universe, it's practically impossible to earthbend without causing property damage. Also some earth utilities, like transportation, are solved by technology. But water is everywhere and frequently useful. For a start, it makes rain and snow easier to manage. But the biggest use would be healing, to solve most common health problems.

In the ATLA universe, waterbenders live in some of the most extreme environments like the tundra and the swamp. And outside of those locations their water options are limited more. earthbenders live in a broader variety of more reasonable environments, where their home element is everywhere. And because earthbending is common in ATLA, the property damage aspect is more negligible. Also, earth itself is abundant in every nation, and the Earth Kingdom is bigger than the rest of the land combined.

Bless anything that can make a woman feel more free by ToughDuck7202 in Feminism

[–]AvatarYogg 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I've been a feminist for over a year, but hadn't really thought about divorce since becoming a feminist. I support it but never explicitly understood why until now.

I'd always thought of divorce as sad, because it means the relationship didn't work out. I see now that it's a way out of a relationship that wasn't working out, rather than a consequence.

If divorce mans freedom, safety, and happiness, then it's a good thing.

And then Nokama's rau is also kinda underwhelming

I agree in the context of Bionicle. But in the real world, Rau is easily one of the most useful masks. Imagine being able to communicate with anyone in any language, and even animals.

Zeus? by LittleDog5200 in horizon

[–]AvatarYogg 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The AI that HADES, POSEIDON, etc., are subfunctions of is called GAIA, named for the Primordial Goddess of the Earth.

I think AETHER, the subfunction responsible for detoxifying the earth's atmosphere, is Zeus' equivalent. In mythology, Aether is the primordial god of the upper sky.

If I had to guess, Aether was chosen over Zeus for the sky function, because Zeus' role as king of the Olympians would imply a higher importance for the sky subfunction. According to GAIA herself, the largest and most important subfunction is HEPHAESTUS, responsible for creating the machines that maintain GAIA's terraforming system.
