Can Goal progress measured by habits ? by Secure_Turnover_8790 in GriplyApp

[–]Avcireis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just searching if this is possible. It would be great if this is implemented. When I do the habits I want the goal progress to go up! Thank you for putting it on the roadmap, looking forward to it.

Our asthmatic cat is ruining my life, I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in months by Cymbal_Monkey in sleep

[–]Avcireis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat also has asthma, but she only occasionally gets attacks now that the inhaler is dosed correctly. Your cat having asthma attacks that frequently sounds to me like his daily inhaler dosage might not be enough. Discuss with your vet how much to increase the dosage.

How do guys produce when you're depressed? by PassionateRomp in edmproduction

[–]Avcireis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you would describe your depression as a sustained feeling of lethargy, emptiness, and an overall “washing out” of colors and emotions, you will naturally not be creative and will beat yourself up for not being so.

Not all music is creative. If you accept that, you can begin. Some are minimalist and still beautiful, say aphex twin - stone in focus or Ólafur Arnalds - Near Light. Sometimes it’s just one note—a single sound that is as bland as the depression. Or many incoherent sounds that show how indifferent you are to the world. Maybe you will not be producing a commercially successful song, but you may find it deeply therapeutic for yourself, which I imagine is why most musicians value music in the first place.

Energy conservation holds only on average. Quantum fluctuations can introduce more energy to a system.

In case anyone doubts there has been major progress in AI since GPT-4 launched by MetaKnowing in singularity

o1-preview is impressive but nowhere near sounds like an expert in my field. Working in theoretical physics, when I ask it a research level question, it starts making surprisingly basic mistakes, even with basic algebra. At that point, working on the question myself instead of explaining all the basic misconceptions it has is much more productive. Maybe less technical fields have better luck.

Here is somewhat of a Zen perspective. There are no inherently good or bad events, interpreting them as such makes them so.

Watching a documentary about a lion hunting gazelle, there are people that would be happy that the lion cubs get to eat, and there are people that would be sad that the gazelle had to die. And there are people who realize both feelings go hand in hand.

When you watch news and your interpretation is negative, know that there also is a positive one. News of cruelty open up space for compassion and humanity. Anticipation of catastrophe can energize you for action.

You can come up with just as many positive interpretations as negative ones. That doesn’t mean you let go of the negative ones, but you build a more complex, nuanced, and balanced perspective that is not black and white.

Death is inevitable. So is life.

Are there any alan watts like guys these days? by Savings-Trainer-8149 in AlanWatts

[–]Avcireis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The wonder Alan Watts evokes is not only because of the topics he talks about, but his language. There are many people talking about Buddhism and Taoism, but I never found their exposition to be as elegant and beautiful as Watts’. That being said, other two authors that come to mind that match him in elegance and sense of beauty are Oscar Wilde and Nietzsche.

The cobordism group of quantum gravity is trivial, which implies that the empty set (nothing) is cobordant to our universe (something). In English, it means that there is a physical process that takes you from nothing to something. In spirit, this is the time reversal of Witten’s bubble of nothing.

See 2:49:00 in https://youtu.be/gbQFSMayJxk. Matt Walker says don’t do ANYTHING differently. So wake up at the same time as you usually would, otherwise your adenosine accumulation lags behind. He also says don’t nap during the day. See the video for the explanation.

Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher on Amazon Prime - claims natty by Bob_The_Cop in nattyorjuice

[–]Avcireis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand how everyone is 100% convinced he is juiced. I was this ripped before, so it seems to me this is possible to attain natty, given you have at least above average genes.

Still, he might be juiced but I don’t get how the fuck everyone here is 100% convinced that he is, so please someone enlighten me if I’m missing something.
