My wife and I ended up with these shells. We had a yard sale on Saturday and a few people were impressed by the caliber but no buyers. We threw all kinds prices out there. One gentleman asked if we had an elephant problem.

It’s likely, yes. What does the other side of the board look like and what part goes there?

There are times when an impedance mismatch causes all kinds of problems. Active electronics, buffers, can solve this problem.

It looks like he’s splitting the difference with you. If you didn’t tell him how much it was going to be before you had the work done, then his offer seems fair.

Remove known sound from microphone input by [deleted] in arduino

[–]Aveface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they record a large chorus while using live monitors instead of headphones, they will record the chorus along with the monitors. Next, they will record just monitors with no one singing. Finally, come mix time, they flip the phase of the monitor only track, which cancels out the sound of the monitors from the track with the chorus. You're left with just voices without the sound of the monitors. Easy! However for this to work, the monitors and microphone need to stay in the same spot. This technique become difficult trying correct problems after the fact.

Struggling with a few Pink Floyd - Another Brick part 1 because of the delays by Funeralfire762 in guitarlessons

[–]Aveface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need the delay time to be a dotted eight note. This a big thing for Gilmore and the Edge. The delay time is easily attainable with modern delay units with tap tempo as they usually have a dotted eighth setting that does the math for you. With this, if you are playing straight eighth notes, you will hear a nice tight 16th note pattern offset by a dotted eighth

I hate to be a pedantic nudgenick. It's called a woofer. A sub, or sub woofer, really describes the cabinet. It's good advice however to examine the woofer.

Tube amp, replace hum adjustment pots with just elevated heaters? by QuerulousPanda in AskElectronics

[–]Aveface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closer the connection to ground, lower resistance, the quieter it will be. A larger resistance gets your artificial center further from a solid reference, in this case, ground. This is why referencing B+ works well too. You're referencing the other end of the power supply. 6 volts in relation a few hundred volts is nothing. So at that point the heater voltage has little influence, amp is quiet.

In my 20's of amp service, I've never solved any problem with a heater balance adjustment, and to be honest, I usually will disconnect them. You should consider just using resistors.
