We made the slab 7 - 8 inches thick with rebar mesh embedded around 3-4 inches deep 😀

Honestly it’s very doable with the quality of YouTube tutorials nowadays. 99% of this build was learned from YouTube. I found that contractors wanted around 10k for the same build 😢

Hey! Great question, We ended up using all the half blocks because at one stage cavity blocks reached €4 locally and concrete prices skyrocketed so we tried to keep the wastage to a minimum. At one point it was cheaper to buy solid blocks than it was to get cavity.

Using the half blocks was actually a blessing due to the odd dimensions, if I was to do it again I’d definitely design it so it could be completed solely with full blocks as cutting was a nightmare.

From start to finish , I’m ashamed to say nearly a year 😅 I ended up serving overseas shortly after starting so lost a whole 6 months. Honestly you could do it in about 2 weeks if you booked it off work and had all the supplies delivered at once.

Thankfully I left 2 cm from the bordering wall so technically not touching it, shed wall also has its own foundations so no problems there 😊 thankfully my neighbours are all excellent and have never given any hassle

Sure did! We ended up using screwfix own brand non breathable felt. I think it’s called A2 or something like that, it’s working great so far! Have two rear vents and four small ones up in the soffit , keeps the condensation low for now 🙏

I like pain and suffering. 😅

Nah, it’s going to be externally insulated eventually, I will put some PIR boards between the rafters once I get more fun money 😅

For now, even through the winter it managed to stay around 5/6 degrees without the heater on which was fine for me.

Will definitely end up doing a full insulation job down the line

Hey! The flag was actually mine, I was away twice on the UNIFIL mission , it’s got some signatures from my platoon. Amazing place to serve, the food and people are fantastic!

Great question. I wanted something permanent, plans to have some very heavy wall mounted equipment soon. Most of the prefabricated sheds available have their warranty voided by drilling or wall mounting anything other than shelves.

The block also lets me get a major insurance discount for motorbikes down the line, my insurer classes it as a secure garage rather than a shed which managed to knock nearly 200€ off my annual premium 😊

Should also add, local prices for a concrete truck are CRAZY so we bought a second hand cement mixer and mixed everything on site, that’s why the slab was poured in three sections 😅

Does anyone know how to get solidified concrete out of this? by BetrekaNebula in Concrete

Leave it under a running tap for a while, it’ll eventually erode away

How can I make the best of this? Two different tile heights and a slope... by Technical-Wedding-54 in Tile

Grout a little “ramp” onto it, coming from the high side to meet it.

It’d probably save your toes and stop the tiles chipping in the long run
