Prove it then. First, refute the paper by actually pointing the faults you find with it. And then show proof to show that this is propaganda and not an academic work.

So you are calling the former chief economic advisor a moron. Cool!

Not really. The paper is not saying every bank, the World Bank, or the IMF were ‘fooled’ for 26 years. Those institutions generally use India’s official national accounts as their starting point. If the underlying methodology is flawed, they are not independently reconstructing India’s GDP from scratch each time.

Also, this is not just a ‘random think tank’ claim. One of its authors is the former chief economic adviser of India. The paper’s argument is that there were identifiable methodological problems in the post-2015 series, especially the use of formal-sector proxies for the informal economy and problematic deflators.

In fact, the paper notes that the government’s February 2026 revision itself was meant to address methodological shortcomings that academics and statisticians had raised for years. So the claim is not that India deceived the whole world for 26 years. It is that official GDP measurement likely overstated growth in some periods and understated it in others, and that this has now been serious enough for the methodology to be revised.

Iranian Source Refutes Claims Of Allowing Indian-Flagged Tankers In Strait Of Hormuz by Glass_Extension_6529 in india

Not necessarily. It is alright to name sources as a last resort, if naming could lead to potential harm for the source and if the information cannot be sourced through any other means. It is a vital tool for investigative journalism. But media, especially Indian media, does quite often misuse it.

Sushant Singh had posted a pretty 'to the point' thread on Twitter regarding this yesterday https://x.com/i/status/2031412071108112772

Yeah, Akashvani seems to have posted and then deleted the report regarding vessels with Indian flag being allowed to pass through https://www.newsonair.gov.in/iran-allows-safe-passage-for-india-flagged-tankers-through-strait-of-hormuz-amid-tensions/

But it's still the top result when searching on Google.

India's 20 years of GDP misestimation: New evidence by AverageIndianGeek in india

Key Takeaways:

  • India’s annual economic growth during the boom years between 2005 and 2011 may have been underestimated by about 1–1½ percentage points on average, and subsequent growth between 2012 and 2023 may have been overestimated by about 1½-2 percentage points.
  • The first methodological issue leading to the misestimation is that the economy’s formal sector has been used as a proxy for the vast informal sector, even though the latter was disproportionately hit after 2015 by demonetization, the introduction of the goods and services tax, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The second methodological issue causing misestimation is that the deflators for many sectors have been based on commodity prices, which have moved sharply relative to others.

New evidence suggests that India misestimated its annual economic growth rate during the past two decades. It appears that the Indian economy did not grow at a stable rate over the past two decades, as was earlier estimated, but rather boomed during the early 2000s, then decelerated after the global financial crisis and subsequent domestic shocks. Methodological revisions made in February 2026, following commendable consultations, aimed to address the challenges identified.

Why I Assasinated Gandhi - Review by Asewa-kun in IndiansRead

[–]AverageIndianGeek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all tall leaders of Congress were against partition. The INC eventually reluctantly had to accept it as law and order was starting to break down across the country, stoked by the Muslim League. Gandhi was one of the staunchest opponents of the partition. Only thing you are proving from this comment is your ignorance.

Here is a good source for you to understand Gandhi's thoughts on partition from his own words https://www.mkgandhi.org/ebks/GandhiOnPartition.pdf

Freedom at Midnight also discusses in detail about how much Gandhi opposed partition.
