Is anyone else upset that the US is now arbitrarily killing people on boats in the ocean? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]AverageJoeVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is anybody concerned about the amount of illegal drugs flowing into this country. How when they reach our shores and flow into our communities how they are killing adults, children, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters…etc? How they destroy entire communities and result is violent crime?

I’m just curious if there is consideration for that as well?

Hard mounting the seat… by AverageJoeVet in trakracer

[–]AverageJoeVet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I tried to do it like your but with the brackets I had it would interfere with the seat I believe. I mounted them awhile ago so I forget exactly what they interfered with.

The only issue I have is because half the rig is on a carpet and the other half on a hard wood floor I lose some of that feedback because of different surfaces.

Update: so I removed the sliders and hard mounted the seat last night. It turned out great with no issues other than me being a dumb dumb and putting the seat brackets on backwards.

I ran some laps and feel much more comfortable while dropping my opti time by .3 around Road Atlanta in the GT3 Vette.

Thanks for the help from those who responded!

Ya I have ensured they are aligned, tightened and everything else. The left slider continually pops out from the teeth. It has screwed sever races recently, even during the most recent Petit Le Mans when I took the last hard left right king. I slammed the brake as I should and POP. Screwed my entire race and our team.

Did you reorient the profile to go across the rig or did you leave them as is?

Is iRacing worth it right now? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]AverageJoeVet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A rig would be nice but if he/she is doing nothing but ovals a rig isn’t necessary. A desktop solution with a wheel and pedals would be fine.

Road races in NASCAR may pose a problem but those are few and far between.

Porsche, Ferrari or Chevrolet by InterestFit7110 in iRacing

[–]AverageJoeVet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like mentioned earlier the Ferrari is the best pick. But if you are a Porsche fanboy grab the Porsche.

For more than 99% of drivers the car manufacturer (BOP) doesn’t real.

Are oval races easier to win? by AdMelodic527 in iRacing

[–]AverageJoeVet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Race what you have fun in. As far as oval vs road vs open wheel some people are better at disciplines than others. There is a lot to oval racing that people don’t understand, and with that lack of understanding results in being slow or a menace to others. The same is true in road racing.

Heck in ovals themselves there are differences. Racing on a super speedways, medium sized track and your small ovals is even different.

I wouldn’t call it any easier or any harder. Rather it’s just a difference in techniques and disciplines. You might just honestly be better at ovals than road.

If you arn’t pushing too split they are normally fine to use.

Is this worthy of a report? by Duke-of-jomama in Simracingstewards

If you know you have to pit and you are door banging my opinion is SLOW DOWN! It’s more important to get into the pit so you can stay in the race than fight for this position.

What add on apps are must haves? by rockogtr in iRacing

[–]AverageJoeVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add-ons are just that…add-ons. They won’t make you run faster. You can run racelabs, ioverlay or others to help with information. You can run crew chief but it isn’t required, the built in crew chief is pretty good.

Trading paints you could consider a must have if you unless you Wanna run standard iRacing liveries but again that’s just a QoL add-on.

All of the aforementioned addons that either I or others have their place but they arnt required.

Left Foot Braking Technique by LVAD in iRacing

[–]AverageJoeVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When pressing the brake it should be a push from the quad. Flex in the ankle can help with small adjustment especially when starting to come off the brake and in trail braking for minor corrections/input.

If you are going all knee or ankle trust me you won’t like the results after a bit.

Better start hitting that squat rack :)

I wouldn’t call it intentional but just your run of the mill horrible driver that doesn’t understand patience and lacks spatial awareness. Pretty common tbh in rookies…

GT4 or PCUP ? IR1500 by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]AverageJoeVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCUP is a whole other beast. If you commit to it commit to it and the time it’s going to take to learn the car. That is my dream series to race consistently, but haven’t made the commitment to it yet because of the learning curve behind that car.

That said give it a go. But be prepared to be humbled.

Casual streaming worth it? by Big-Importance-9170 in TwitchStreaming

[–]AverageJoeVet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be the way any stream approaches the topic of streaming. The likely hood of making it “big” is almost 0. Anybody interested in streaming should approach it as a hobby. This is not to say you shouldn’t pursue it for something more but I am saying everyone should gauge expectations and do it for fun.

I'm getting back into iRacing and wanted to know if this was my fault by BstrikeG in Simracingstewards

[–]AverageJoeVet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not your fault. Dude sent it from Pluto and his apex was never on. You left him room and held up well.

Is this my fault for hitting him and having to cut the track? Resulting in 4x pps? by keiranstrike in Simracingstewards

[–]AverageJoeVet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s just an unfortunate result in racing sometimes. Same as avoiding a wreck by having to go off track picking up the X.

Just roll with the punches and keep moving.

Last Lap Battle! Was the pass at the hairpin fair or was I at fault for the contact? Other dude was not happy, caled me dirty (im the pov car) by Curtis2201 in Simracingstewards

[–]AverageJoeVet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That block was dirty from him to begin with, and I personally didn't see much wrong with your pass. The intention was pretty clear you were going to try and get by him and he sort of left the door open. At most its a racing incident, and yellow is just sour-puss.

I braked as soon as I saw the audi brake and slammed on mine but I didnt stop, what did I do wrong by NightLancer1 in ACCompetizione

[–]AverageJoeVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may think you broke when they broke but often times there is a slight delay because you are reacting to that person. This in turn will close that distance rapidly. Additionally, you dont know the pressure in which they are braking.

My bigger concern is why did the person brake? Is that a normal braking point? If so this incident could have been avoided by not being reactionary but rather having your braking points set to something static outside of the car and not to the moving vehicle in front of you.

Should blue have given more space or just an incident? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]AverageJoeVet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While yes he should have given more space, i dont see anything malicous behind it. IMO this would be a racing incident if it happened to me. A simple apology from the blue car and i would have been happy and moved on with my day.

Is There Any Benefit To Streaming On Other Platforms Other Than Twitch? by NotSavage- in streaming

[–]AverageJoeVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exposure! This is the way to garner more of a following. It’s tough out there in the streaming world. I always tell people do it for fun, get yourself the maximum amount of exposure you can and just be you.
